So glad to see you are bouncing back and now better than ever! You're an inspiration to many of us who need it. I've seen you tackle many things that nobody else would ever try. Thanks so much Buzz. Only the best to you!
Sounds like Buzz is back in the saddle and sounding like your old self. Great to have you back and what a good idea for a series. Going to be especially helpful for the newer guys to see how a radio is built from scratch. Two thumbs up. Carry on.
Very Nice Buzz.. Fine workmanship. I remember once you fully rebuild a Radio Cabinet from scratch and Now you are building a Chassis from scratch. Thanks for sharing.
That's how I punch a chassis too, Buzz. Every attempt is a new adventure. Great idea for a series. I have no idea how you do these videos, but I'm dang glad you do. Thanks.
Missed seeing you Buzz. Great to see you again with what looks like a great project !! A build project from the floor up for an existing cabinet, a real interesting project !!!!
Glad to see you back Buzz! Going to be a great series, I'm looking forward to it. I made a guitar amp from scratch one time - very satisfying. Hope Dickel made it through the night OK. Best, Bill.
I heard someone screeam in the beginning as if his balls were being bit by a toothless dog. OK, I started freakin out, the Buzzmaster is making his own chassis. You're a flipping genius . I'm freakin out. Amazingly kick ass!!!
I think it is a great idea, thank you for making this series. I have never seen a twist drill bend like that before. Harbor Freight bits are crap, but they are not that bad.
Hi Buzz. Very happy to see another video buddy : ) Great to see you are going to build a radio from scratch. Hope to see you more here on RUclips, Miss you buddy. I had to laugh when I watched that drill bit flopping around like it did : ) Well Dickel is in another mess I see. All my very best Buzz. Bobby
@@Buzz1151 Thank you for asking buddy. Going pretty good, we have moved back in. still some small things to do but, very happy it was fixable . Smoke alarms in every room both ac and battery backup.,Etc. All electronics on metal and glass stands No power/surge strips.,has that was ruled the cause. Arc fault outlets where electronics are plugged in. Ah poor Dickel may never learn. : ) All my best Buzz and looking forward to more. Bobby
I had sort of a reverse of that idea...Take an existing chassis that has no wood case and build a case to house it. The idea's been in my head for several years now...sort of aged in the wood, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! Yours looks like a much more difficult job though. I got a spring loaded awl/punch for Christmas that looks like it would have been good for your job. Center it where you want to drill a hole and release the spring mechanism and it makes a small indentation so the drill bit has a guide and doesn't try slipping around :) Will be looking forward to your progress on this radio. Take care, Gary
Great job, Buzz. Too bad you didn't have some chassis punches to help you out. I have a complete set in case I ever need them, which has been seldom. Never buy Chinese drill bits, only buy the best made. I am looking forward to more in this series. Don't finish it too quickly! Glad to see you back at it!
Great job! Doing a little home brewing, huh? And I don’t mean alcohol! Can’t wait to see your homemade radio work. Very attractive cabinet, it deserves to have some innards.
I'm Talking Tina...one of my favorite Twilight Zones with Telly Savalas (with hair!) . Only thing creepier than talking dolls are clowns! Great looking project Buzz...look forward to more. Give Peanut a scratch from me!
Oh, brother, Buzz, this is great, making a brand new vintage radio! Next, I hope you'll make a brand new vintage tape recorder. How hard could that possibly be?
OH BROTHER...when I we were kids, my brother built a wooden cabinet , and we put the guts ( well mostly my brother) of a cheap battery recorder inside it!!....glad to see you!
@@Buzz1151 LOL. Actually, I have a Panasonic RQ705 recorder with a plastic cabinet. For some reason, the cabinet is disintegrating. I though about building a wooden box for the recorder. Then I thought, too much work, and ate a bag of chips instead.
So you think the world needs another AA5 . At least you can use a bunch of them spare parts that you probably have amassed . I'll admit it's a pretty novel idea, building a chassis to fit a case, I have built a case to fit a chassis before. Good to see you're still going strong . Nice video, thanks!
Greetings: I enjoyed watching you building the chassis from scratch. I was wondering if you gave consideration to the orientation of the sockets before mounting them. Even if they were mounted so the positioning matched from tube to tube, the consistency might ease the wiring because you know the pins will be where you expect them. I am surprised that you did not cut the IF holes yet. As the cans have consistent wire colors, I would mount them matching with orientation dictated by their source and destination locations.
Glad to see you're back and doing well. Love the video! Maybe for your next series, you can build a cabinet also! Hah! Tell Dickel to contact Hillary's lawyers; perhaps they can help him out.
Very nice Buzz. Always enjoy your videos. Please stretch this series out as long as possible! See if you can beat John in Arkansas’ jukebox series record. (Well, maybe not that long....)
This is different...I like it! Of course, when I first read the subtitles of “Experimenting with Buzz”, the first thing that came to mind is episode two will feature Buzz mixing chlorine and bleach in a confined space...
If I were building this I would probably use all octal type tubes for practical reasons. In this case the 6A7 would be replaced by a 6A8, the 78 by a 6K7, the 75 by a 6B6 and the 41 by a 6K6. BTW you're gonna end up dulling your HSS hole saw cutting like that at such a high speed and without oil. Also, try center punching before drilling; it will keep the drill from walking.
I mean really ! It's his channel and I don't remember him asking ,people how they would build it ! Or everything they think he did wrong ! Best to mind your own business, if you can't say anything nice !!
What a great idea! Buzz, love your videos! after you drilled the socket holes, did you have to file down the edges? How will the chassis be attached to the wooden frame? Will the tuner have to be insulated from the chassis?
Buzz, great to see another video. A very ambitious project! Awesome. I have two questions. Can you turn your dial mounting plate around so the black faces forward? There is no flange along the bottom edges. How will you mount the chassis to the cabinet? Beautiful cabinet. Good luck. You are inspiring me to get off my arse and get busy. Cheers
Very good video! Creating a radio chassis is a good change of pace. I like it!! Did I detect a sound bite at 15:12 from a "Christmas Carol" movie? Dickel looks like he is in big trouble now! He'll have to contend with the doll from a Twilight Zone episode staring Telle Savalis. Looking forward to the next video.
What a great idea for a series of videos Buzz.
