Brilliant Mahmood. Told me exactly what to do for a low-cost DIY fix (with bulbs - EB286 12 volt 1.2 watt - sourced via ebay). Quite fiddly getting the left-most bulb holder removed - cos of the electrical connector in the way. Easier once I figured out how to temporarily disconnect the wiring connector (press down on the top and hinge back the top retaining arm). V. pleased to now have a fully illuminated display once again!
Many thanks, very helpful indeed. i will try to fix the display after i order the bolts. yesterday i tried to unplug the cabel but couldnt do it and now i can see you can change the bulbs with out unpluging the cabel. please add this tag to the vedio "peugeot 307 multifunction display"
Many thanks very helpful. One question, When you put the bulbs back in do you turn them about the same amount but the other way as to when you take them out. Sorry prob a silly question but I don't want to damage them when putting them back in? Cheers :-)
Hello, push the bulbs into the caps and then turn the caps back on in the opposite direction, clockwise by about 1 cm. You will feel it when turned enough. Just going by memory as it has been a while. Glad video is helping people out.
Wesley Cowpar I am a software and not electronics engineer and fix things in the car as I enjoy it and save money! So, with that out of the way, I would suggest you try switching on the lights during the day while the radio is on. If the display dims with lights on and brighten up with lights off then it may be a problem with the battery and possibly with the alternator (I would bet on the battery). Again, I am not an expert.
Will it help with my problem? My screen is not readable in the day light. It is readable at night. So the bulbs are worn out and need to be treplaced? Or the screen just is like that? I bought a car like two weeks ago so i don’t know how it is supposed to be. Sorry for my english. Hope so you can understand my issue with the screen.
You are either saying that you can see the writing at night when your car light shines on the display or you get faint light from the bulbs so you can read it in the dark. It may be that a small amount of light is getting to the display from the dashboard so you can see it at night. During the day, use a torch on the display and if you can see the writing change then it is the same problem. Either way, the bulbs are so cheap and easy to change, just do it and see.
Mahmood Miah i ment that in the day light screen is too dim what makes it unreadable. When there isnt that much light from outside, so there is a night or Dark garage screen is readable. So i think i can change the bulbs becouse these i have are probaly worn out and don’t give that much light to light up the screen durning the day.
Thank you for your help with this video. However, i dropped one of the bulb Holders down the Gap. Any idea what that part is called. Or a link for a replacement
+Charlotte Elrick Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. I am not sure if you managed to find a cap for this. If you look for the bulbs (12v 1.2w wedge bulbs) in Amazon, for example, you will see images of other related products. If one of the others with caps look like yours then it should be OK to use on yours.
Mr. Mahmood, thank you for your helpful video. By any chance, do you have a video of how your display looked before the fix. My multifunction display is hard to read when the sun hits the dashboard and at night is not all great but it is easier to read. I would like to know if you had the same problem as me or is it different. Thank you. Rich
I don't, unfortunately. You may not be able to see in direct sunlight. But if you use light from a torch and use the radio and can see things changing then it would be the same. If you cannot see things changing then it could be a problem with the LCD panel. But these bulbs are so cheap and easy to change, you should try replacing them anyway.
That is correct. I was able to pull them out just like Mr. Mahmood said. They were a little bit stuck but moving slightly form side to side made it possible.
All displays have bulbs, the only difference would be in the type of bulbs. But for this, I'm pretty sure it would be the same. If it's not working, take it off and see.
Hi! Great video! I want ask you someting. I have a peugeot 206 , but the lcd display is the same of yours (type B). My prlobei is to add external sensor on LCD display B. I've bought the sensor. I see in the video the two wire of external temperature sensor is in another connector. Do you know the connection between the BSI computer/external sensor/LCD Display? I whould have the Pin out. Many thanks fabio
If you search with "12v 1.2w" or, more specifically, "12v 1.2w capless wedge", you will get many hits on Ebay or Amazon. I hope you get to cure that display!
i used pliers to grip them and pull them out. of course, try not to apply too much pressure as this would smash the bulb. if it does smash (and one did smash for me), then try to use the pliers to grip the insides of the bulb which would now be exposed and pull the remains of the bulb out. worked for me.
Mohammed Pervez I don't think you need another video just to show that. If you reverse the very last action of putting the display back on in the video then you can do it - you just need confidence. Hold the top-front side of the display with the thumbs underneath and give it a good jerk up. It will come out.

Hi my friend. I want to ask if i can replace these bulbs with led bulbs (EB286 12 volt 0.5 watt or less)..??? Thanks
David H in the previous comment confirmed that he used that bulb on his car. So, yes, you can. Good luck.
Many thanks very helpful. One question, When you put the bulbs back in do you turn them about the same amount but the other way as to when you take them out. Sorry prob a silly question but I don't want to damage them when putting them back in? Cheers :-)

Thank you so much, very helpful and saves paying silly amounts for someone else to do it :-D
thank you...that's very helpful. I didn't even know it had bulbs!
michael sharp how did you thought it makes light then?
I thought the display was the light...didn't know it had bulbs behind!
Valeu, muito obrigado por compartilhar.
Thank you , exactly what I needed. Ill let you know how I get on
Any idea why the display works perfectly during the day, but when i turn on the headlights the display dims so much it cant be seen, even at night.

Ricardo Vazquez how do i get bulbs out bulb holder
Just pull them out. If tight, just move side to side as you maintain the pull and they should come out.

@mahmood miah Do you have a Direct link to said bulbs either on amazon or eurocarparts ?
Hello. Thank you for the video. I just want to make sure, is it T5 bulbs? Or anyone can let me know what size the bulb is?
will it work then same in 407??

Hello. The bulbs must to be red or, are they white as normally??
As long as the bulbs are of the same type and wattage, it should be fine with red, blue or white. It will simply look different.
These??
