I have the Alfano 6 for a year now, I like it so much, I just order another one for another kart. Fantastic data logger! Nothing against MyChron, they are great too. But I love my Alfano!
I used to have a Mychron 5 , now I have an Alfano 6, which is a lot better, it has everything and you can customize the screen the way you like it. But I wouldn’t recommend downloading the data into a smartphone, the screen is just too small to be able to analyze your lap times, but if you download the data on a tablet or a laptop, then it’s perfect! 👌
you hanging for the next installment?? yeah we havent used our kart since covid hit last year, most parts got sold off. as soon as i get some time to get our shop kart together ill hit the track and get some data for ya
See a lot of teams here in Spain and Italy running Unipro chronos... Any experience with those? Apparently you can sync them with gopro footage and also some other interesting features.
I Just Ordered The Alfano 6 And Looking Forward To Its Arrival, What App Did You Use To Pair To Your Iphone, I Looked At The App Store And There Appears To Be A Few Different Ones,,,,Thanks In Advance!
hey Craig, sure have. it was awesome. very similar to Mycrom with the added benefit of being able to fully customise the screen display and placement of your chosen parameters. Killer system, get one if you like them as you won't be disappointed
Hey man, I analyse my data over a laptop, go to Alfano website, and then find data analytics page, then install the software, then read the guide how to use it, happy karting!
yeah, I have mychron5 and... only way to transfer data from device is to use PC with Windows... currently I have macbook, iphone and android tablet, and I must bring to circut another laptop with windows to transfer data (or use parallel desktops or VirtualBox on OS X)!! Using Alfano or UniPro is possible to transfer data to OS X.
planning to get this over the mychron because of the mobile app (mychron doesnt have an app) 1) is it possible to compare lap times with other drivers using mychron? 2) would you recommend getting the steering and non-contact brake and gas pedal sensors? mainly for a beginner cadet.
1- not sure but I doubt it. I reckon you would only be able to compare laps from others with Alfano. 2 - might be a bit of over kill, especially if you don't have any data from anyone else to compare yourself too. but if you have the resources then go for it. probably best thing is to use a GoPro 7 or 8 and analyse your driving using the video
@@PowerRepublic Thanks Derek! I'm considering the Alfano but everyone uses a Mychron. Do you think the ability to do faster in-between-sessions analysis via the alfano app trumps the ability to compare data with Mychron users?
@@Fh77469 the best thing you could do to find the best is try them both yourself. The rotax has a powerband which makes it harder to predict, the x30 power is more linear through the revs. Top speed is similar as is power, Both will get 30hp. If your racing, the x30 is considered the best. If you want fun, the rotax will probably make you smile more. If your feeling difficult, the PRD fireball has a good reputation but they are quite rare.
Power Republic Honda gx390 is low power engine (~13HP) so using KZ chassis with front brakes are probably unnessecery - I drove gx390 couple of times (rental) and always it didn’t have front brakes. I think senior frame is enough, ofc 32 as you said, becouse honda is very havy 4 stroke engine
@@KKarczmarczyk oops, I was thinking it was a 390cc 2 stroke hahaha. then if it is low powered 4 stroke they used to sell karts called 'SL' karts which was a reference to the type of tyre used. what type of tyres do you use on a 390 GX?
Power Republic nope, gx390 is very popular in europe, besides gx270 (less powerfull, ~9HP) - in Poland that I live, EVERY indoor rental gokarts has gx270 or gx390 on it. In Czech Republic (Czechia) gx390 is also a “professional” series, besides rotax, easy60, vortex ROK, etc. Honda GX390 has least power of all series in europe. @@KKarczmarczyk got it. yeah the hire karts here probably use something very similar. They are on the sodi kart platform and seem to handle pretty nice when I have been in them. are you going to buy your own chassis for the GX390?
I haven't used this one yet personally on my kart, only seen it on customers karts. once I have used it in the next few weeks I will have some feedback for you guys. I think the main difference is that it can viewed on a mobile device instead of a laptop
@@miltiadiscolivas5060 hey mate, no our demo kart got sold 2 weeks ago and a replacement chassis only turned up today. give one a go, especially if like iOS or tablets
I've been watching several of these videos and am impressed with how easy they are to follow! Sign me up!!
I was waiting for a video about the alfano, not many big youtubers do videos about it, cheers mate
Yeah we have had a few requests. going to hit the track soon with it to test it out

Nice whannahave thing. surtenly will be one off the choise i will make with that BT.
yeah it isn't necessary to have one to go go-karting, but it is a nice addition to your racing set up

Great intro
Thanks bro
G'day Derek, did you end getting to give this a run yet? Have you compared it to the Mychron 5?

Awesome, thanks for responding so quickly mate. Great feedback👍
Why don’t you have gps signal ?
Does it matter which port you use to charge the battery?
use the black cable and the black charge port in the middle
Is there a follow up to this video? The data you collected and how you analyse it? Thanks
not yet my friend, we havent been to the track much this year with the covid firstly then with the work load.
Power Republic fair enough guys, I just got my alfano 6 so looking forward to using it

yes, see the manual

Thats a pretty fair analysis Chris. very similar power and overall lap times. good drivers win in either at our local track in TAG light
Little question: On which chassis can you put an Honda GX 390 engine?
Nice Video!
Probably a KZ frame in 32mm chassis rails. and even then you might have to stiffen up the chassis to handle the torque of a 390
