Yeah observe, watch, and learn.

its not a bug its a feature

If your character gets stuck and doesn’t fall if you jump into a wall, you have to create a new physic material and then go to the inspector of it and turn friction to zero, then apply that physic material to the collider component of that wall, you should use it on all of your walls in your game

Pls playtest my life it seems to have many bugs and glitches.
Maybe turn off and on again
I'm sure we are all being run through a looping playtest. Every time you wake up, the level restarts. The game dev just thinks all the glitches are just fun little quirks.

At the beginning of every video I used to said that with him. Great times!
I feel like when I’m working on my game I test it after any change to see it it works and then more thoroughly after any significant change to see how it feels and it also helps with coming up with new ideas as you see how things feel/find weird gameplay gimmicks

"Durrburrbrh"
- Brackeys, 2020 (7:04)
YES
He speaks the language of gods.
In one of my games I had a bug that enemies could walk through walls and even stop inside of them.
So I repainted their sprites and made them ghosts instead of regular knights.
Lol dope
Thats some 400 IQ
IQ 9000
Should of made them "walk through walls, disappear and fly" 😏
I had to present a project for a Unity course I've been working on. It was a horizontal scrolling space shooter, and quickly realized that the best strategy was to not move because the enemies would rarely spawn directly in front of you. I solved by implementing two changes:
- once in a while an enemy would spawn that would want to chase the player in the Y axis while moving at a constant pace. So the player had to actively try to move away until the enemy would go past the player
- and a set of enemies that spawned in threes, which were really vulnerable but every a couple seconds they would get the player's position and shoot at it, the bullet going faster the further the player was from the enemies, so it woulf enourage players to destroy them or fly close to them to make the bullets slower.
It solved a lot of problems in the long run, and all went quite well.
Thanks for the shout out, and great points! The game sim tool really helped us out when we were really scratching our heads on how to balance our giant weapons system.

Brackeys: What was your favorite part and what was hard?
Also Brackeys: *YES*
"brutally honest"
you can see the hurt in his eyes as he is transported back to the days of the playtesting
3:17 - A rare clip of Asbjorn dying inside as he ceases his existence in this world
These are phenomenal tips! Also, for anyone who is a fan/used to be a fan of Halo, they had vidocs around the time of the release of Halo 3 where they test.
They literally do all these things in any game(well debatably these days in some AAA games, as we see multiple pages of bug lists on some releases), clicking menus, testing weapons.
Something that struck me is they said when they got external playtesters, they too would get the urge to defend their work.
But remember, you can easily just say, "this game is in Alpha. may be VERY buggy"
And sometimes, you can't plan for EVERYTHING either. In that very same vidoc, they said they tested this jump hundreds of times to see if someone could get to these crazy ledge that would be unfair and unreachable easily. They said they tested it hundreds of times and no one internally could make it, but on the launch day, someone gets up EFFORTLESSLY.
So yea, lots of funny shit can go down :)
Thanks Asbjorn for all your awesome tutorials, am a Cameroonian and I decided to start with the development of my first game tomorrow and I'm sure that with the help of your videos it's going to be epic

I love it when my friends playtest my game and beat it one minute even though it's supposed to take three hours.
The intro made my day! Also, nice video about playtesting, I was actually playtesting a game for my friend when I got the notif for this video too!
Yo Brackeys, I'm that guy! Love your content. I've spent most of my game development working on surf maps, but I am going to start my first full game in unity soon. I will be referencing a lot of your videos on my journey. Keep up the great work!

Petition for Brackeys to Give a tutorial about 3d Enemy AI with Guns and Shooting. Pow Pow!!!
That was the best intro I've seen in a long, long time.😂😂
Really useful video, thanks! It's super important to get playtesting done right and often! :)
think this is best channel i found!!! both very funny and educative!!!! but yes ,best part (for me) of making a game is that u can always try it and of course best thing is to test it very offten from start even it will slow down ur time making a game
THE BEGINNING IS SOOOO NICE!
the intros get spicier by the day 🔥
Thanks for showing us some tips! Will remember them and use them in the brackeys game jam 2020.2!!!

the tutorial no one knew they wanted but the tutorial we all needed
I just love the meme style of this video. Makes it more fun to watch while not decreasing in informativity. Would like Brackeys to keep that editing.
I agree with what you said at 5:53, I actually worked in the past as a game-tester, and I would like to add that it is really valuable NOT to help the players you are observing figure stuff out in your game (including how to navigate the games stages and menus) because you can take note of what players might have trouble with or what can be improved in your game or it's mechanics. Like he said, just step back and observe, see what they like and don't like.
I already published my first game and made most of the testing for my second game and you just made this video.
Edit: Nice tips
Just needed that! By the way, I'm planning to do Playtesting soon of a Metroidvania. If anyone is reading this and can help me, please reply this comment and I'll be in touch when the time come. :)
I Love Your Vids! Good Work!
tnx men u the best ....all time.
Thank you very much team brackeys you've been my inspiration its just fun and educational watching you I wish creating more games as you do but in our country programming people like me and my friends call them nerds and don't support them .... So THANK YOU very much especially Asbjørn Thirslund .

Such a funny way to open the video🤣

funniest intro I have seen ! nice.
So much yes for that opening XD
The intro was soo good
Well done.
Brackeys, you guys honestly inspired me to start developing games and start up old yet channel to make game dev videos! I even made my own itch.io page (bot-Studio.itch.io) to release my game there! Thanks for the needed inspiration and keep up the good work!
Dude I love you man..
When a unity yt gets sponsored by unity: "so free money for nothing"
Could you make a tutorial, how to make pathfinding for enemy’s (including shooting) in unity 2D ?
By the way: I really like your videos. They're helpful and I learn more and more!
the part about kids being brutally honest is so true i let my other siblings play the game I'm currently working in( which so far is about a circle'ish round being in a world full of cubes) and when I told that to my brother he looked at me and said "you just described yourself"
On one hand he makes really helpful tutorials that improve my game dev skills, on the other hand he uses dead memes in a way that makes me a little more dead inside...
Take it easy
He is so kind :c
@@isaacgaleao I know 🥺 but it's just so hard to forgive😞
As a professional software engineer I support the idea that test test test test test and test is the correct answer.
And your video is awesome
I decided to record the playtesters facial reactions and eye focus, as so many people go um and yes or no when answering questions. You just can't get details out of a lot of people.
That's some good humor right there.

Cool video😍 and what an intro😱 is it a top 1 of ....😦
"They are very BRUTALITY honest..." lol
This guy is so adorable. Great video a always.
I thought, "Oh, interesting. A video about playtesting." But Brackeys proved me wrong.
i feel like some people dont understand that having someone playtest your game isnt "i dont wanna do it, i'll pay someone else to do it" (this applies to all medias) its alot easier for you to notice flaws where there are none when your looking at it for so long
you are a genius
Bro I like watching Brackeys Its kinda fun your awesome !
I love your videos so much. Thanks a lot. 9:36 just for me

His cat looks exactly the same as mine. That's scary xD

Totally agreed.... made the same mistake in our last 2 games (one Jam and one Demo release), leaving playtest to last... WRONG!
