Grace we need more "mom's" like u when it comes to homeschooling!I have found u 2 be the most logical and sensible when it comes to scheduling and doing classwork!
Same! This is our second “legal” year, but my first year being more “formal.” Second grade (oldest) seems more “legit” and we’re all ready for more structure around here!
This is our first year with The Good and The Beautiful and we are loving it! Thank you for sharing this great curriculum and other homeschool tips and tricks with us! 🙂
Thank you! I think it’s so helpful to hear rhythms and tips from a seasoned homeschool mama! I appreciate the chore list - it gives me some good ideas! Learning to work in the home is so key for life! 💪🏻
Thanks for sharing Ashlee! We have done the 4 day week as well and when we hit middle school, we added math and science only on a 5th day. It made it much easier on us to keep up our schedule even through high school. I love the flexibility that homeschool gives us to do what is best for each of our families. Have a great year!
Loved hearing how you use your planner. Love how you have a plan but are also flexible. Thanks for explaining all this because it gives me ideas of how to run my homeschool.
I love year-round homeschooling! We like taking September off as our biggest break because the summer is too hot here to go outside and play anyways. We do 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off. I love your channel 😍
awsome ! we moved to missouri from california :) and we do online in the morning with core subjects , than unschooling the rest of the day! they go to sunday school too and bible study , plus chores :) we have a small homestead :)
I just found your channel a few minutes ago while I am preparing for my first year of homeschooling a kindergartener. I'm trying to figure out what our schedule is going to look like and then this video popped up just in time! Just wanted to say, "Hi, I'm Morgan. Nice to meet you!" And thanks for putting this information out there because it's so so helpful!
I appreciate that you share Middle School Homeschooling Material, Resoirces, Ideas, & Schedules! I have started Homeschooling my 3rd Grader and 7th Grader this year and haven’t been able to find a lot of information for Middle Schoolers. 😔 I came across your channel today and this is 4th vídeo I am watching! 😃 I can’t thank you enough!!!! 🙏🏼
Always love to see how other homeschoolers do it. We are moving to a Sabbath schooling schedule this year. I am horrible about not allowing us take a break.
We have done Sabbath schedule for the past two years and it's my favorite. Six weeks on and then one week off seems to be just the perfect amount of time to work before getting a breather.
So thankful for you and your channel! It is something that has been a constant for me through all these crazy times. I always feel refreshed after listening. We will be starting back homeschooling August 3rd. Blessings to you!
HAHAHA!!! you had me laughing when you talked about the public school lunch of 15 minutes and the kids inhaling their food. It is so true. I brought my kids home Dec 2018 so I have a year and a half of homeschooling memories and I love it.
This was so helpful to watch! This will be our first year homeschooling, and your videos are so encouraging. Thank you for putting in the time to share!
I haven't even watched the video yet but I'm so excited to! I've been trying to come up with a routine and schedule for this next school year and I'm getting so overwhelmed! Can't wait to watch!
Love this so much! We have a “daily flow” here too. Love the flexibility of homeschooling and also the stability of being home to accomplish what we need to. Thank you for sharing ❤️
This will be y 2nd year, I have a middle & high school student, looking for a better routine now that I know how this really works ! Just remember to not rush- this isn’t a traditional school system, and if things don’t go as planned start over tomorrow!
Commented on your chore chart lists from video four years ago, and am just now seeing this one! Is there an updated one since this one? LOL! I know you'll see this comment on your YT Studio comment list as my hubby is a FarmTuber (YT Farm guy in Montana). Thanks for all you do for this community!
🏖 I love how you plan, totally made me reconsider planning every lesson to do on my calendar, much easier to mark that school was done and move on... this leaves that flexibility in the schedule!
Thank you for this! I've been wanting to rework our school schedule too, so this was really helpful. We're also doing a 5-day week, with the 5th day including our morning basket (something new for us this year) but then field trips, nature walks, bigger projects than can fit in a normal school day, etc. We also have a "flow" rather than timed schedule--- I think it helps so much because then you don't feel behind all of the time, and still get everything done.
Just found your channel! I have one going in to third year and this will be our first year! I also have a 13 month old and another on the way 👏👏 we will have a busy year but very excited at the same time! Any tips on multitasking, time management, breakfast and lunch simplicities are greatly appreciated!!!!
I never thought of us as year rounders, but we go from Aug-June to allow for more breaks throughout the year. So maybe we are! I count out 36wks w/ several breaks penciled in but allow to take more as needed. - We are so similar w/ routines, chores, all printed out in their binders. I enjoyed this video!! Here's to a great year!!😍
Thank you so much for sharing all of this and explaining it so well. This has been our first year of homeschool and we think we want to continue with it!! But I know I need to up my game and do my research to make the most of it and fit it to our family. This was incredibly helpful!!
I love this video! This year will be our first full year homeschooling and I’m so excited! I did a schedule as well and didn’t set it on stone per say do we can move things around. Ps. You inspired me to start my own channel & I’m loving every moment of it!
🏖 I watched your fitness video from going on YT, but came back today when I saw your IG story about your schedule. I am super excited to see how you do things even though I have also homeschooled for a number of years. I am always open to tweaking my schedule based on the experience of all the wonderful, seasoned hs mamas out there, including you! Thank you for all your hard work! Enjoy your time off before the new year begins!
Love this video!!!! Thank you for doing this!!!! 🥰 This really helps me with planning our first upcoming homeschool year! Gave me the push I needed to get ready for the next year! Much love!!
I LOVE EC Planners!! This is my third year using them! I use a self made "planner" to record what lessons we did that day, as we did them. Like back logging, but I do like to use my Life Planner to plan out events and and things coming up ...
I use Frixion pens because I cannot commit to permanent ink in my planner. 😆 We also don’t follow set times for subjects and stuff like that. We do a routine/flow similar to yours. It works well for us.
Loved this video...😘 I also have four children and share many commonalities with you and your family...& similarities for our upcoming homeschool year & schedule! 💕Loved, loved your chore charts as I have been wanting to update mine! Yay! 👍🏻📚✨Please keep up the great content...
Stopped by to say that my wife watches you almost every night on our TV 😁 I am a fellow content creator like you so I have to admit I do like listening in and enjoy your videos as well 🤭 But I don't tell my wife that hahah! Have an awesome day and thanks for helping my wife out as we get ready to do homeschool for the first time for our three kids 👍 - Riff
Love this video! We have very similar schedules. But I'd love to know how you motivate your kids to get their chores done on time for school. Lately mine have just been messing around and not getting done on time and it's driving me nuts! We've tried rewards, giving them extra chores if they're caught messing around, taking away privileges, nothing seems to work!
Love this video!! Great info and tips! I am thinking we may need to move to a 5 day school week this year too. Blessings and thank you!!! Always so helpful!!
Starting Sonlight next year and homeschooling for the first time. Thanks for all the tips! I was glad to find your channel. I also like those cross earrings :) Any chance you remember where you got those? Thanks!
I requested to follow on IG, of that's alright. I'd love to see a screen shot of your kids chore lists. I am kind of a control freak when it comes to housework so I've never given my kids chores. They are 8 and almost 11 and I'm SOOO regretting that! I just like to see what other mama's have their kids do to get an idea for mine. I definitely know to take into account their capabilities. This is my 2nd year homeschooling my daughter (10 yrs old) and this will be my first full year distance learning/homeschooling my son (8 yrs old). I'm really trying to get myself organized and set up for a good year because homeschooling 2 kids is new to me! Thank you so much for this video ~ it helped a lot!
Hi Ashlee thank you for being on You Tube to share and inspire us. I notice you do history on Tue and Thu and science on Wed and Fri, what do you do on Monday? I would like to try TGTB drawing and was wondering where you fit that in to your flow? Thank you. xxx
Hi there! When do you typically work out or work on your business? I am considering homeschooling but I am also trying to be intentional with my health and I’m in school myself for my master’s degree which takes a lot of time and effort. Just trying to understand how the schedule might work or if it’s doable. I’ll have a preschooler, kindergartner and second grader. Thanks! I love watching your videos 🤍
Lol I'm totally going to be a stickler on start time too. I've been so loosey goosey in past years. We have a middle schooler who has a lot more work this year and I don't want to be doing school until 5pm, because we didn't start until 11am. We start school tomorrow 🤸♀️
I love the idea of an EC for a school planner but maybe you can make a video of how you use it and set it up?? We also use TGTB and with it being open and go and laid out perfectly for you, how do you use a planner if there’s nothing to really plan as far as lessons go? Thanks!
Great video. Thx for the overview. This year I'm schooling grades 3, 2 and bringing in my kindergartener. How to you balance them all? I find all three grades need my attention most of the time. Tips?
Love the video! Question, though: So do y'all get all of your cleaning done before 9am? Or are there chores you, or the kids, do in the back-half of the day? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your all this great info! What do you use for cleaning your shower? I would love to have my kids start cleaning their own bathroom but the shower is always a little daunting.
Is your oldest doing every subject every day, or switching up electives or non-core subjects on different days? My oldest is grade 9 this year, and in still working out for to schedule her without it being too burdensome. On her more "un motivated" days getting anything other than core subjects done can be a real challenge. I'm still working out our school schedule with grades 9 7 6 and 5, but we are very excited to get going again in August! I'm so thankful that our homeschool is not one of those big question marks so many others are finding themselves dealing with in these uncertain days.. My heart goes out to them!
We are starting with everything just because I’m not sure how long things will take etc. I plan to adjust what’s necessary after we get familiar with some new things we are using!
Hello Ashley. This is my first year homeschooling and you have been a huge asset to help me organize and feel like I am not screwing up my kids lol I used an online platform this year but after finding you I'm leaning towards using Good and the Beautiful. But I'm not sure how to grade his work. Will it seem like I'm being impartial. Any guidance is appreciated.
Do you incentivize your kids to do chores? Pay an allowance at all? My kids are much younger. My oldest is the same age as your youngest, but I struggle with getting them to do things just because I tell them to do it...is that an age thing and it will get better with time? 😂 Even starting school at 9. I can say we will do that, but it takes major muscle movement by me and not a lot of work on their part. I want to make sure I’m cultivating responsibility and self-motivation in my home. Any advice?
OK, I've found your channel and am watching your reviews with gratitude and appreciation. I did homeschooling last year out of necessity when Nevada schools shut down and the distance learning was not a good option. I fumbled my way through that while also being distracted with a divorce and other craziness. This year I'm continuing homeschooling but really hope to find a little more help with scheduling and structure. I've been considering The good and the beautiful for that reason. But I have to ask, how much time are you schooling each day with this system? I have 3 kids, My oldest may go back into a local charter school that uses online K-12 curriculum and supplements with tutoring and socializing. I see this as good for her but more work for me so I'm hesitant. My two younger boys want homeschool but I have to constantly be on them to actually do it. Additionally I work full time 12 hrs a night on graves. So the schooling I do leaves me getting about 3 hrs of sleep during the day when kids, dogs, and suns up. Please tell me that this program will help. I wish I could talk to you and get a little more insight but seeing your videos is giving me hope. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing Ashlee!! So inspired & encouraged by your videos all the time. I have to ask...how do you fit so much between 9am & lunch???! Do you usually have a timer that you set for your history or read aloud times to keep those activities from eating up too much time or taking away from other subjects? How do you pace your read alouds? My oldest kids are still little (2nd grade & 1st grade this year) so it feels like a major struggle to keep a steady routine with my 3yr old and 2yr old in the mix 😅... I always find our lit-based science or history (take about 30-40 min each. We don't do both on the same day) literally take our entire morning when I add in our Bible lesson and all the natural need-addressing/caring-for-the-littles. 😅🤪 Maybe it's just my phase right now...
I like the idea of only planning for our first break. Because our family situation requires lots of Flexibility. What is the Least amount of time you suggest to homeschool between breaks? Thank you.
I'm over here binge watching your last 5-6 videos as we were out of town for the last 2 weeks! I never miss one! I especially love homeschool chats. I SO desperately need to take a day or 2 to plan my year out in my planner. This is my 1st year using a planner. Thanks for the advice to use a pencil. When you go by the idea of "do the next thing the next day" do you find you do not finish books by the end of the year? I tend to do this as well but I also count out like page numbers to see roughly how many pgs per day we need to accomplish in order to finish in a years time. I hate not finishing a book unless it's a book that's meant to be done in a few yrs time or easily broken into more than a years time. But things like ETC, TT, HW I want to make sure we finish those in a years time. Am I right that they do those larger chores in the am before school?
Yes they do them before school, and we do finish all of our stuff in a years time. Books like ww I have them do more pages then just 1 or 2 so we usually finish those early!
When do you cook breakfast, lunch and dinner? Is it in the time allotted or do you do anything before hand? Ps I have four kids born in same years as yours :) your videos very inspirational. Thank you 😊
What does bedtime look like for your kids? Do you spend time with each kid tucking them, reading stories, in or do they just go to bed on their own? Mine are 5 and 9 and we read stories and my husband sits next to them and sings and touches their back for a few minutes. I’m curious what other families do at bedtime and how they handle it. Especially with your older ones.
Hi! Have you shared in a previous video what typing program you use? Thanks for this video! This is year 2 for us and I'm so excited to start this year! 😁
Yay! I love hearing how other mamas "flow" through their homeschool day! 😍
Grace we need more "mom's" like u when it comes to homeschooling!I have found u 2 be the most logical and sensible when it comes to scheduling and doing classwork!
I was absolutely giddy to see this video pop up! I'm currently overhauling our routine and am in need of inspiration!
Same here
So glad I could help!
Same!!
Same! This is our second “legal” year, but my first year being more “formal.” Second grade (oldest) seems more “legit” and we’re all ready for more structure around here!
I am praying about homeschool for my three kiddos next year and this was super helpful. Thank you for sharing ☺️

Same here. Brand new this year and struggling! 🥴
I just found your channel a few minutes ago while I am preparing for my first year of homeschooling a kindergartener. I'm trying to figure out what our schedule is going to look like and then this video popped up just in time! Just wanted to say, "Hi, I'm Morgan. Nice to meet you!" I appreciate that you share Middle School Homeschooling Material, Resoirces, Ideas, & Schedules! I have started Homeschooling my 3rd Grader and 7th Grader this year and haven’t been able to find a lot of information for Middle Schoolers. 😔
I came across your channel today and this is 4th vídeo I am watching! 😃
I can’t thank you enough!!!! 🙏🏼
Always love to see how other homeschoolers do it. We are moving to a Sabbath schooling schedule this year. I am horrible about not allowing us take a break.
What is a sabbath schooling schedule like?
We school approximately 6 weeks and then take a week off.
We have done Sabbath schedule for the past two years and it's my favorite. Six weeks on and then one week off seems to be just the perfect amount of time to work before getting a breather.
This is what I do for my own sanity! 😂
@@christinasheaff6097 Oh! We are doing Classical Conversations this year, and I believe the schedule is that way.. 6 weeks, then a break.
So thankful for you and your channel! It is something that has been a constant for me through all these crazy times. I always feel refreshed after listening. We will be starting back homeschooling August 3rd. Blessings to you!
So sweet thankyou!
We’re also starting August 3rd! ✨
You are gifted, friend. Keep goin'. I'm here for it!
Really helpful! I find it so interesting to see what other homeschool moms do for their school year.
your makeup is so pretty! I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel, I love working out, I homeschool and LOVE your channel!
HAHAHA!!! you had me laughing when you talked about the public school lunch of 15 minutes and the kids inhaling their food. It is so true. I brought my kids home Dec 2018 so I have a year and a half of homeschooling memories and I love it.
Love listening to all the wisdom you’ve obtained over the years! I currently have a 5 1/2 yr old and 18mo. Thanks for making these videos 😊
This was so helpful to watch! This will be our first year homeschooling, and your videos are so encouraging. Thank you for putting in the time to share!

Make me feel like I actually can do this. We share a similar flow. But u got it down I am still learning my flow.
Love this so much! We have a “daily flow” here too. Love the flexibility of homeschooling and also the stability of being home to accomplish what we need to. Thank you for sharing ❤️
This is sooo helpful! I am going to be a new homeschool mom this year and I’m so grateful for videos like this!
So thankful it was helpful! You can do it!

Thank you for this video! I'll be teaching kindergarten online and this helps me to help parents set up a good routine.
I love seeing how others schedule out their plans. It always remind me something I may have forgotten.
🏖 I love how you plan, totally made me reconsider planning every lesson to do on my calendar, much easier to mark that school was done and move on... this leaves that flexibility in the schedule!
Yes!
I am glad you touched on the flexibility so much. I just started the 2nd week of kindergarden and it is my first time homeschooling. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this wealth of homeschooling info, Ashlee! I’m with about structure, yet flexible.

That’s exactly what I hope to use it for!
What is a gratitude journal? It sounds like a really good idea.
Omg girl is the best thing you can do. I've been doing it for a long time. Is feeds your and your kids souls and lifts the spirits beautifully
Just found your channel! I have one going in to third year and this will be our first year! Praying many blessings over your new homeschool year. You all are going to rock it!
Really love the simplicity of your planner! So flexible!
I love the idea of planning by weeks rather than lessons. Seems like a much less stressful way to go. Btw, your makeup looks so pretty today!
So sweet thankyou, and yes, this works so well!

Very helpful Ashley! Thank you!! Your energy helps me get motivated for our upcoming year💕
Awe yay!
Always not only helpful but encouraging and motivating! Ty

We are starting with everything just because I’m not sure how long things will take etc. I plan to adjust what’s necessary after we get familiar with some new things we are using!
Hello Ashley. This is my first year homeschooling and you have been a huge asset to help me organize and feel like I am not screwing up my kids lol
I used an online platform this year but after finding you I'm leaning towards using Good and the Beautiful. But I'm not sure how to grade his work. Will it seem like I'm being impartial. Any guidance is appreciated.
I'm taking notes!
Love home school chats 😊
When you take a ‘break’ what do those weeks look like? I feel like I still want some structure, but not sure how. Thanks!!
This was awesome!! Thank you!!
Any advice?
This is so helpful!! Thank you
OK, I've found your channel and am watching your reviews with gratitude and appreciation.
Thanks.
Im just transitioning from public school to homeschool and i don't know where to start... i been watching your videos but i don't know where to begin
Great job...thx for sharing
Writing in pencil is key when it comes to planning!
I don’t have littles so we can focus for longer bits and I think that definitely helps!
I like the idea of only planning for our first break. Because our family situation requires lots of Flexibility. What is the Least amount of time you suggest to homeschool between breaks? Thank you.
I like minimum 6 weeks
We don’t do stories since I read to them all day. We tuck them in and pray with each and kiss goodnight
We are shifting from 4 to 5 days this year too.
Hi! Have you shared in a previous video what typing program you use? Thanks for this video! This is year 2 for us and I'm so excited to start this year! 😁
The good and the beautiful
@@GraceandGrit thank you!
Can you tell me what writing program you have for your 8 year old?
