It's so sad that the present generation hardly know about such classics and can never value them not even half a million views. This masterpiece created in 80s but even today it feels magical when you listen to it.

Always knew Ashoke Kumar ji had formal classical music training and could sing really well. The movies of 30s and 40s had him singing for his character himself. But for people who have not seen movies of that era - this is a great song showcasing Ashoke Kumarji's excellence. Asha Bhosale ji is at her best
.. and for those people who relate RD Burman ji to westernised or light pop music, this is one of the so many of his pure classical based songs where he has shown his mastery in composing classical music. He really was an all- rounder. And Gulzarji.. his stamp is all over the movie- be it the screenplay, dialogues, lyrics. And of Hrishikesh Mukherjee sir.. no one can beat him in his direction, editing.. his movies have always been very clean, light hearted yet having deep meaning in it. No actor in those ages could ever say no to him... Just like Satyajit Rayji. Sad that so many of these people are not amongst us anymore. .
Hrishikeah M was a great director. But I am sad that he did not consider to give a single role in any of his movies to Mithun Chakraborty... And Mithun is not an ordinary actor by any standards.. Its HMs loss in any case. Only Shakti Samanta and Basu Chatterjee considered him for their movies..

Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmemdra, Amitabh Bachchan, Amol Palekar, etc., Hrishikesh Mukherjee worked with all these actors, and they were no way less than Mithun Da in any terms. It's no loss to HM that he didn't work with Mithun Da.

@@himanshupathak1310 Dharmendra is not a great actor by any standards. The rest are however. But no one can still beat Mithun who won the National award for his debut movie. Besides, he is a Gold Medalist from FTII. Its HMs loss totally for ignoring such a talented actor. "Diya tale andhera!". Mani Ratnam was another director who suggested Mithun for the role of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in Swami Vivekananda and Mithun got another National award for this role.

Dadamuni Ashok Kumar was a trained classical singer, together with being such a great actor. Not many people know that Dadamuni sang numerous songs in his films during 1940s and 1950s. Some of which include the evergreen song 'Koi hum dum na raha koi sahara na raha', originally sung by Dadamuni and later remaked by Kishore Da. Also, the song 'Ek chatur naar' was originally sung by Dadamuni and later remade by Kishore Da and RDB. Ganguly brothers (Dadamuni and Kishore Da) are real gems, ocean of talents.

The the greatest R D Burman is not conferred the Bharat Ratna for his outstanding contribution to the Indian cine music. I don't know what was reason behind it for not considering the name. Can anyone imagine the level he thought in composing a song like Piya Babari. And Ashaji ,you are more more than what a person can imagine about the perfection of singing a song. This is just you can justify music like Piya Babari song. You are also the Bharat Ratna.
