Great discussion Yara. And Taraji spoke nothing but the truth--- it is alarmingly frightening that our youth know things we as adults know.

I truly feel like the ball was dropped long ago in the black community especially with the old saying, "What happens in the home, stays in the home. We were not allowed to speak about these issues. So thankful for your courage. I am dealing with a situation now and do not how to go about getting help. Again Thank you Taraji

Thank you all sooooooo much for this. Much truth when going through different stages of age. Not knowing whats going on and begin to think something is wrong with you. But d whole time it's a process, your body going through physical AND mental changes.
Need much more knowledge/exposure of Mental Health, esp. amongst people of color. 😢This is helping me to get/have a better understanding of mental health and for me to be able/figure out how to better myself.😭😭😭Thank you all so much (yes. I am crying. This is a small video, but is muccch HELP).

Mental health is an affect all area of one life. When l lost my husband by suicide my mental health was seriously checked. What worked for me was finding my maker to fix me from the inside though being a mental health specialist practitioner for many years l was not able to help me. The only help was the word of God . His name is Jesus Christ. He healed me from inside out and brought a permanent and perfect mental health stability. I am now able to help other who are struggling with their mental health in the UK. I still go through challenges and l continue to use the word and daily meditation and communication and connection with the Holy Spirit.. Exercise, deep breathing exercises,, good sleep cutting down on alcohol, drugs and vitamin c and regular check ups will be very helpful. However the word is my best medicine try it and you will definitely have a testimony.

I love this topic. How can we blast insurance companies that don’t cover therapy? @Aetna 😑 I pay almost $300 a month and stuck in it for a year. So regret this and what a waste of money.

I Remember I went to the clinic and I filled out the paperwork to be seen and they automatically said that I am major depressed and I said where am I major depressed at they try to give me depression pills I don't need depressing pills I am totally fine I don't know why they even said that but they quick to label black people as schizophrenic the ones that are not schizophrenic or depressed I just finished College I'm going to be 38 this year I have my criminal justice bachelors degree I'm an armed security guard at a courthouse if I would have got on those pills or listen to those people I probably wouldn't even be where I'm at now I'm trying to get so far as even probably trying to work with celebrities like you as a bodyguard but they push women out of certain things labeling us as not fit to do things like that or that's a man's job don't see no women bodyguards for celebrities or so for I want to be one of those people to break that cycle

I don't have a personal check-in on me like that but you're right I'm always the one check-in on people I'm tired of doing that I'm tired of always doing stuff for other people and they don't do anything for me or see if I need anything or whether it's just to talk about something like my sister I was talking about she always used me I didn't see it at first people had to open my eyes I saw that every time she got back with her baby daddy when they couldn't help with bills or the kids she calls me I had to tell her no why are you with them if they can't help you and now I can't help her if this one start putting his hands on her I hope he does not do that this time around because I can't help her I own a gun and work with the one I don't want to be in the middle of her shit our dad will tell me don't answer because she will take them back which she does

Because it seemed like the specially where I'm from that they always label our kids as mentally challenged or something of that nature and quick to throw medication at them and throw them a SSI check my sister for instance is one of those people that they told her there's something wrong with both of my nephew's so they tried to put them on medication and made them like zombies so she took them off but they get an SSI check same thing with my youngest brother who's in his twenties his mom did the same thing they threw medication at him and put him on a SSI check they're saying that he's major schizophrenic my brothers in his right mind he's in his thirties now he's in his right mind he always been his right mind he played football he played like a normal kid I don't know where they get the schizophrenic part from the only thing wrong with my sister's oldest child if he has a speech problem but he's smart as s*** our youngest child he just hypergenetic so I don't know why they trying to put her kids on medication

2:10 it's just that sort of negativity that acts as an anchor around the necks of of us a Black people. I'm so tired of hearing of expression like that.
