And even despite all of that AMD managed to make competitive cards out of nothing. People at Nvidia must have known that if they did their usual +10% performance at +20% price they would get absolutely smashed.

I watched an interview with Lisa Sue covering the companies goals, the video was from about a year ago, she talks about how the company is looking for pure gaming performance. And looking out their model lineup it really matters what they're trying to do. They're not focusing on glittery marketing campaigns that only appeal to a few games (like Ray tracing and dlss) they are focusing on what will be the fastest card on average for all 30,000 games on steam. If you're going to be doing productivity and video editing or streaming or any type of business work I don't think AMD is advertising their that is nvidia's market. But if you have a big game library and have been gaming for years and years and years that's who AMD is targeting.
Level11Techs said that RDNA2 has been the best GPU series he's used on Linux for IOMMU / VM work. These cards are lifesavers for the open source community.

Just got this card recently for $600 and I’m loving it, runs 1440p at max settings and gets well over 100fps. Runs very quiet as well. I can definitely see myself with this card for years without replacing.
@@AlphaFrog1021 using the 5800x3d. It’s a great cpu to pair with the 6900xt they utilize each other very well. In a lot of benchmarks I’ve seen it gives a 10-15fps boost to most games when compared to different cpus.
I had an idea for some cool build videos. They wouldn’t even have to be top spec machines. The title of the series could be something like, “Ode to the Games.” The series could have different themed builds for different games. A Doom themed build with fake gore and water cooled with “Blood.” A Titanfall themed build with an eject button that does... something??? A cyberpunk themed build with some kind of hologram-type screen/image on the inside. It is a difficult pitch because it is a lot of time and effort for a single video but some of my favorite videos are unique builds that gives me ideas for my own build.

I recently decided to build a gaming pc for a first time in my life. I went ahead and bought 3070TI (660$) and i5 13600k(300$) , but then I made some research and found out that it is worth to buy rtx 3080 for 100 ~ 150 more. I went into the microcenter again, to return the item, on the way there, I was looking for 3080 performance and 3080's 'competitors' , I found out that RX 6800XT is a good competitor for 3080. As i went into the store to check my reserved 3080, I asked if they had RX 6800XT, to which , they said no... They put my RTX 3080 on the checkout desk, took my 3070TI and told me I had to spend 170$ more. At that moment I re thinked my decision, I was certain that I am not in a position to pay 170$ more for 10-12% fps gain. So I told them to give me some time to think. After few minutes, when they saw I was thinking hard about this decision, they told me they had RX 6900XT in a stock, but it was 'Open box' and costed 600 +- 30 with tax. I smelled a good deal right there I took my RX 6900XT home and purchased 2 year warranty on it. Also had 15$ cash back and bought RGB strip. So far, I think I did a good job for getting my hands on this deal(especially when It's my first time building something). I'll update this comment once I receive pc case and assemble build, I'll pair RX 6900XT with i5 13600k.

I watched an interview with Lisa Sue covering the companies goals, the video was from about a year ago, she talks about how the company is looking for pure gaming performance. And looking out their model lineup it really matters what they're trying to do. They're not focusing on glittery marketing campaigns that only appeal to a few games (like Ray tracing and dlss) they are focusing on what will be the fastest card on average for all 30,000 games on steam. If you're going to be doing productivity and video editing or streaming or any type of business work I don't think AMD is advertising their that is nvidia's market. But if you have a big game library and have been gaming for years and years and years that's who AMD is targeting.

Just got this card recently for $600 and I’m loving it, runs 1440p at max settings and gets well over 100fps. Runs very quiet as well. I can definitely see myself with this card for years without replacing.

@@AlphaFrog1021 using the 5800x3d. It’s a great cpu to pair with the 6900xt they utilize each other very well. In a lot of benchmarks I’ve seen it gives a 10-15fps boost to most games when compared to different cpus.

I had an idea for some cool build videos. They wouldn’t even have to be top spec machines. The title of the series could be something like, “Ode to the Games.” The series could have different themed builds for different games. A Doom themed build with fake gore and water cooled with “Blood.” A Titanfall themed build with an eject button that does... something??? A cyberpunk themed build with some kind of hologram-type screen/image on the inside. It is a difficult pitch because it is a lot of time and effort for a single video but some of my favorite videos are unique builds that gives me ideas for my own build.
I THINK the next gen of amd cards will be focused on software optimization for their graphics card, current being laying the hardware needed.

Don't you love it when scalpers raise prices but still maintain high demand! it's like consumers don't wanna pull out of buying the Gpu till the scalpers drop the prices, and just wanna keep the prices up 🤦♂️
I recently decided to build a gaming pc for a first time in my life.
I went ahead and bought 3070TI (660$) and i5 13600k(300$) , but then I made some research and found out that it is worth to buy rtx 3080 for 100 ~ 150 more.
I went into the microcenter again, to return the item, on the way there, I was looking for 3080 performance and 3080's 'competitors' , I found out that RX 6800XT is a good competitor for 3080.
As i went into the store to check my reserved 3080, I asked if they had RX 6800XT, to which , they said no...
They put my RTX 3080 on the checkout desk, took my 3070TI and told me I had to spend 170$ more.
At that moment I re thinked my decision, I was certain that I am not in a position to pay 170$ more for 10-12% fps gain.
So I told them to give me some time to think.
After few minutes, when they saw I was thinking hard about this decision, they told me they had RX 6900XT in a stock, but it was 'Open box' and costed 600 +- 30 with tax.
I smelled a good deal right there
I took my RX 6900XT home and purchased 2 year warranty on it. Also had 15$ cash back and bought RGB strip.
So far, I think I did a good job for getting my hands on this deal(especially when It's my first time building something).
I'll update this comment once I receive pc case and assemble build, I'll pair RX 6900XT with i5 13600k.
I get the 4k testing and results, I was hoping to see 1440p as well. AMD cards seem to do better on that and 1080p than their counterparts.

Guess it wasn't difficult to beat that "accidentally" hit every card with a hammer look.
Nice... now if they'd actually be able to get cards into stores. I had the luck to pick up a 3070 yesterday, the salesman hasn't seen even one 6800, with or without XT, until now.

Camping 1.5 hours on a continuously crashing website just to get the out of stock notification is just disappointing
thats why I waited for a day outside to get mine. If you really wanted the card, you have to do this for a near if not 100% to get one.
This is why I decided to go for more of a budget build, while still setting up for future upgrades.
