Hello! Congratulations for your work. Saint Seiya ("Os Cavaleiros do Zodíaco") premiered in Brazil in 1994 and was a huge success between 1995 and 1996. I wonder if this "American version" would have been shown here in Brazil along with its Japanese counterpart. This happened in Brazil at the same time when SBT TV showed "Street Fighter Victory" in October 1995 and - six months later - the American animation of Street Fighter, which I thought was really bad! Looked like Gijoe - not "Street Fighters"! 😅
Gracias Ray Mona!!!!
And to think that literally nobody knew this show even existed until you found it by chance. Google gives zero mentions of Guardians of the Cosmos before you found it. There could be Americanized cartoon versions of like, Slayers or Magic Knight Rayearth or something and we'd never know. Heck, since Inspector Gadget started out as a Lupin the Third cartoon and Galaxy High was conceived as an American Urusei Yatsura, maybe some old cartoons that actually aired were meant to be anime adaptations but turned into their own thing.
Wow!!!!
I was introduced to Saint Seiya via the Chapter Sanctuary game on the PS2, so I've had a passing interest in this series. When I saw this at the end of Part 1, I did a double take. Even if it probably wouldn't have been *that* good if it got off the ground, it makes me wish it had, just so we had this fun bit of weirdness in anime adaptation history. One thing that stands out to me are the Gold Saints. Besides how surprisingly accurate their armor designs are, the Libra and Sagittarius Saints are present, despite the former being semi-retired and the latter long dead in the source material. Could these have been new characters created for the series to complete the roster? Additionally, the Gemini Saint is depicted as a shadowed figure, making me wonder if they'd have kept the twist of (spoilers for an old 80s anime) the Pope/Emperor being the true Gemini Saint controlling his Cloth from afar, or if they had made the two unrelated characters. Can't wait for Part 2 to learn more about this!
