I really love your content. I'm currently hungover in bed and this is exactly what I needed. I've been getting into foraging recently and your videos are very clear, calm and have helped me ID a few species I wasn't sure on that I had found. Thank you very much, love from England
Thank you. I was looking forward for the velvet shanks as I don't find them very often but I knew the fallen tree from last year and hoped they will appear on it again :)
This is awesome! We recently went foraging with a chef friend of ours (and posted a video about it on our channel called Wild Roots) and now we are hooked!
Hi..I love youtube like this. Especially mushroom picking. And I love the way you cover the hole every times when you pull it out. And I already follow you..( from Thailand ) 🍄🍄🌲🌳🍀☘👍🤟🍄🍄😍🤩
i am a subscriber, when I seen this video on my front page & clicked it, it shows that I am no longer subscribed?? so I subscribed again. My Daughter & I love wild enoki !! 2:31 here in Ontario, Canada I would call those yellow fungi (Crown Tipped Coral Fungus "Artomyces sp.") 8:55 we call those Late Fall Oysters (Panellus serotinus)
I'm glad you like it. Normally I put some photos just at the very end of my videos, but now during winter I have a bit more time to put them straight in the video. And of course I put most of them on my Instagram :)
Hi Luke, nice video and great pictures! Thanks!!! This year was the first time I discovered winter mushrooms for myself. My findings are mostly tree ears, and I was even able to find 2 oyster mushroom colonies. I hope to find flammulinas as well.
holy crap! I didnt expect them to grow in the winter even with snoq in some areas! I live in vermont so I might go explore this upcoming weekend, I wonder if amanita will grow? I love finding those, saw a ton this past fall, I make a tea with them that helps me sleep well on those anxious nights. Thanks for sharing man
My pleasure. Just keep in mind that many of those mushrooms don't really grow in winter. They just had good conditions up until the first snow and frost so that's why I was able to find the amanita or the red cap, for example.
There are ways how to distinguish them. But I don't want to give any advices here, as a mistake can be fatal. I recommend to find an expert who can teach you or study reliable resources like trusted websited or books.
Thank you Luke. I am blessed to learn from you. God sure has blessed your foraging for mushrooms. Does the snow change the texture or flavor of the mushrooms? I love your forest walk. Thanks so much again!
I'm lad you like it. About snow / frost, it may change both texture and flavor, or even to turn edible mushrooms to poisonous. In general it is not recommended to pick non-winter species if they were frozen already.
Would I be able to ask what camera you use? I have just been using my phone for my mushroom photography but am interested in finally purchasing a real camera. Thanks again for another video!
You are welcome :) About my camera, I don't publish details about it yet. And I don't think that's so much important anyway, there are plenty of good cameras out there with which it would be possible to take such pictures.
Thank you. In the future I may create a video about my photography setup too, but until then I don't wish to reveal much details. Also, it doesn't matter so much in my opinion.
05:40 Although I'm normally a stickler for stet, a printer's term; the timely change to 'Wood Ear' should be welcomed what with the II World war and the recent rise of racist facism. Let the Latin stay as a warning to history and of course an aid to taxonomy (two Greek words)

Great photography as always Luke! Love how you documented the velvet shanks as they grew.

Thanks in advance

Edible to poisonous...really! Wow.
Hi! High quality pictures there! Can you please tell us on which tree species the Flammulina you've found were growing?
Thank you. I was unable to identify all of the tree species but I'm pretty sure one was an aspen, other possibly a willow.
@@LukesMushrooms thank you
Super! 👍👏Já eště nenašel ani ucho😃
Tak drzim palce :)
wow,the wood ear was my childhood faverite. In Chinese is called "Mu(wood) Er (ear)" 😍
It wood be interesting if you can tell us if the mushrooms are eatable 😊
Sometimes I mention that, but not in every video.
beautiful scenery, free of pollution and lots of fungus...and definitely no snakes...i like jungle but afraid of snakes...
We have some snakes too but in this particular forest I haven't met any yet.
@@LukesMushrooms... At least they hide during the winter... 🤦🤦🤦

Do you eat all the mushrooms your harvest or do you sell some?
I don't eat them all but also I don't sell. Most of them I give away to family, friends, neighbours or to random people in the forest :)
Are the Phyllotopsis edible?
No, they are not
@@LukesMushrooms Thanks!
😎 👍🏼 🍄 🤤
I would have said those were deadly gallarina.
Didn't know mushrooms grew during winter
Some species do :)
Some of them- does... I had great day, literally over 5 kilograms in a couple of hours.
Какой около славянский акцент и прекрасное знание названий грибов на английском👍👍
why do the trees look dead?
Some of them may be dead, but most of them just lose leaves for winter.
@@LukesMushrooms oh okay nice
a like kontent you am contry indonesia
Glad you like it :)
You should tell us if they are edible or not.
enoki is edible, wood ear is edible, oyster is edible. though there is a deadly look alike to enoki called deadly galerina
i dont know much about the other ones
What region do you live in?
I live in oregon
I'm in central Europe (most of time Czechia and Slovakia)

Hmm, actually stet refers to letting an error stay.
Does anyone have a suitable substitute?
Hello there 14Enoki mushroom is delicious and i love it 😍
Yes it is tasty :)
