    Will you be surprised to know that my “Luz journal” just won 1st place in mixed media category in a local contest for seniors like me? I created it this summer while watching your videos. Now I really like using heavy fabric and paper in my journals and even drop cloth!

    What a great idea. I just came back from Philly with maps and programs for a travel journal. I wasn’t sure what to do with all these different size pieces of paper. Now I know. I can create a Buku journal like your friend Meta. I love love this idea. Thank you for inspiring me.
    Also forgot to say that I love your channel.

    I think blending the map into the background of a travel page would be good. How about a dream page of what you would like to do and where you would like to go if you go to Italy. God bless

    • @luzartworks

      A dream page would be great too, thanks for the idea. Rome is still on my wish list and Florence, of course… and I thought about Italian food (I’m a pasta monster!!)… Oops there are too many ideas.

    I really like the sketchbook and what you've done in it so far. The spider layout is my favorite. :) I make similar books for myself and enjoy working on a variety of papers, packaging, and fabrics. It's a creative challenge for me which has pushed me to experiment with new-to-me techniques.

    • @luzartworks
      @luzartworks  2 месяца назад +1

      Oh thank you! The spider was already in the book, so it was one of the things I didn't want to remove. Yeah, there are so many things to choose from, it's great to develop your skills. Have a nice Sunday!

  • @zarcris9247
    @zarcris9247 Месяц назад +1

    Maybe you could spread a layer light gesso on the map pages, and then work as you usually do. The background that you get gives you an idea of what colors you can choose 😊
    By the way, it's a wonderful journal as well. Sometimes it's good "salir de la zona de confort" (I don't know how to translate this expression). It means that sometimes it's interesting to try new ways rather different from the usual ones...

    • @luzartworks
      @luzartworks  Месяц назад +1

      That’s a very nice suggestion. And yes in English it’s the same: to step out of your comfort zone. And that’s so true, indeed! Thank you for your commend.

    Great to see how you design your own book! The variation is so much more big than in the Dina Wakley books, so that's already a head start 😇 I love the big spider!
    And just a suggestion for the italian-page: just draw all kinds of boots on that page 😆
    Have fun with your new book!!

      Yes, the Maja de bij pages are just great to work on, also because they have some greyish green colours in it. The boots are an awesome idea, I'm thinking about that! Enjoy your Sunday!

      Hi Annelis, thanks for your comment! This is the notebook version, I will soon show the new creator's version which is suitable for art journaling. Paper is a good option, in my opinion, at least when it's thick enough. However, it is nice to consider other options to grow your creativity, as they seem endlessly.

    Hi Luz, I agree that it's good to be challenged to use materials outside of your comfort zone, or we run the risk of not being curious and imaginative in our creativity/art?
    More recently, due to budget and a mindset of upcycle/recycle, I've been exploring lots of options which include food packing. For example, flour bags, cereal boxes, delivery paper/cardboard, gift paper, baking sheets, junk mail.... The list goes on.
    Take care and thank you 😊

      @luzartworks  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes it's a great way to keep you going, isn't it? I use a lot of packaging material in my art journals to, but haven't created pages for a full book. But it's definitely a good idea! Thanks for your comment and enjoy your Sunday!

    What to do with a map? Well, there are some artists who use maps as the “paper” on which they draw on. Others use it to integrate portraits into them. Others use it as background for their collages. You could do a master drawing of one of your favorite Italian masterpieces.

    • @luzartworks
      @luzartworks  2 месяца назад +1

      That’s really a great idea, doing one of the Italian masters… I now covered the page partly with semi transparent paper so I can draw on it while the background is still visible. Thanks for watching and your comment.

    Wat te doen met de kaart van Italie? Wat in mij opkomt is verder werken met de laarsvorm, associeren op Italie, de natuur, het eten, Italiaanse mannen, het vaticaan. Welke kleur komt in je op, welk lied, etc etc.

    • @luzartworks

      Hi Debora, thanks for your question. It's a book created with left over materials, such as book pages, map paper, music sheet paper, etc. It's very carefully binded. It's an idea of a friend of mine, Meta. She has no website yet, but if you want more info, please let me know, by sending an email to luz@luzartworks.com
