Finally, a Welsh name for a Celtic music song. Glad to see my people are getting some rep lol. Everyone always thinks of the Scots or the Irish when they think of Celts. Rarely are the Welsh ever mentioned and rarer yet are the Cornish, Breton, or Manx ever mentioned.
Agreed, it always bugs me when people mention Celtic culture and only mention the Scots and Irish. Yet more people speak welsh than any other Celtic language.
You have to remember, Celtic culture lasted the longest in Scotland and Ireland so it's only natural for everyone to mostly think of them. If you want to get technical, the Celts were at one point or another in countries all over including eastern Europe, Germany and France, but you never see them credited with Celtic culture at all.
I've been researching Celtic culture, and while my Irish (surname: Platt) and Scottish (surname Cing/Roi) cultures are known to me, I have learned about the Welsh, Cornish, Breton and Manx people. I've also learned of the Celtic roots of Northern Spain and Portugal, and the Gaul region of France, though they lost their Celtic languages and became Romanized. Cornish and Manx languages were on the verge of extinction, but efforts made to revive them have proven successful. Scotland is facing a loss of Native speakers of Scottish Gaelic, and efforts are underway to not have it as just a Scholarly language as Latin is. Scots, which is a form of Middle English, and Scotland probably the only place where Middle English is still widely spoken, appears to be in no danger. The Welsh and Breton speaking people have retained their Celtic languages. About all most people know about Wales, is that actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is Welsh. Recently, Microsoft Rewards featured castles in Wales. I had no idea there were so many, learned something new that day. Despite English occupation, the people of Wales kept their Celtic language, and Welsh is widely spoken there, and is the official language. You have much to be proud of.
YES! I'm American, but with Welsh ancestry on my mother's side, and hate that Wales is so neglected in this way sometimes. 😢 Also, as an avid lover of all things Arthurian, all I can say is "Bravo!" Absolutely epic music and a stunning way to appreciate Arthurian legend! ❤
Antti Martikaine, Adrian Von Ziegler, and Two Steps From Hell: some of the best instrumental music you can find on RUclips (I'm sure there are others, I just don't know of them yet).
I’d like to nominate Marcus Warner/Evening Star, Hans Zimmer, and David Chappell as well.:) I also like a few tracks by Jyc Row, such as Castle of Time, and Brian Crain has some beautifully gentle pieces. I may add more to this comment if I think of any. I like lots of genres of music, but the “instrumental/epic genre is definitely my favorite.:)
Thank you for including the performers' names. As a former musician myself, it is good to see them credited for their wonderful skills. And thank you for sharing all your music -- it is stirring and stunning and very moving.
Very nice! I went to Dinas Emrys last weekend, just before the lockdown started in the UK. Fascinating place with importance in both Welsh history and legend.
You're now my new favorite. Found some of your tracks on a compilation video. I thought "all of these are great. who are the artists so I can look them up. Oh? all the same guy. Okay, going to buy a random album on google play then." I liked all of the tracks so I bought 2 more the following day. Now listening my way through "Origins" and I love everything so far. Keep up the good work, you're amazing!!
I've visited a few castles in North Wales two years ago, a pity I didn't have that wonderful piece playing in my ears, it would have made my journey even more epic ;) Great work !
I love this song. It sounds and inspires adventure. I like to hear it and let it inspire me in my everyday life. Thanks for your music, Antti, it's great

True. Then most people do not delve deeper into the lore.
