    Definitely including more B roll footage of what you're talking about with each subject would be super helpful so we can actually see what you're talking about.

    Just have to say I got my daughter a juvenile ball python about a month ago and I've been doing a ton of reading and watching videos. The production quality and information you provide in this video is really perfect. You put everything into one video whereas a lot of folks split them up among multiple videos. Thank you for putting this up.

    Hey Mia! Love your videos theyre always so helpful!
    I am curious about the garden plant hangers in your enclosure (not sure what theyre technically called but the brown ones in the background lol) - what do you secure those on? i think its a brilliant idea Im just unsure what to hang them on as i move my snake into a PVC enclosure. Thanks so much!

  • @liberationpocket7950
    @liberationpocket7950 2 месяца назад +1

    I've never agreed with people saying that starting in a bigger enclosure is stressful for the baby snake. My bug-eyed super lesser is going on a month old and she LOVES exploring her 120 gallon tank. Maybe it's different from each snake, but I definitely agree that it depends on how your setup is.
    Edit: If you use a glass enclosure, you can make it conduct heat and humidity better by adding an expanding foam to cover the glass and make a nice background. Especially if you color the foam using grout

    I may not be understanding but if i want to set up a bioactive vivarium, im gonna need a halogen, uvb, deep heat, and led grow lights? Could i just get the halogen and the led grow lights since my house is kinda warmer at night?

    • @MiasMiniZoo
      @MiasMiniZoo  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes! I don’t use a DHP bc my house is also warm at night

  • @cassiegrace10
    @cassiegrace10 3 месяца назад

    Can I just use a deep heat projector as the only heat source for day and night and a uvb for lighting during the day? Or do I still need a basking light for daytime heat?

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 месяца назад +1

      You can, although a halogen bulb would be the most natural and beneficial primary daytime heat source; the levels of infrared A and B they produce more closely mimic the sun (DHPs produce barely any IRA, the most beneficial type of heat).

    I’m not sure if you can answer this but any help would be appreciated I have a three month old ball python she’s in a 40gl tank ( I had it left over from my bearded dragon) but I’ve been looking at 4x2x2 tanks and one is on sale right now, the breeder I got her from said most females get 3ft to 5ft, would it be a good idea to get the 4x2x2 tank (risking that she might get 5ft) or should I wait sorry this is long 😭

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 месяца назад

      I recommend going bigger just to be safe. Better to end up having a larger enclosure than necessary (a smaller snake would still use all the space of a larger enclosure) than get a 4x2x2’, only for the snake to get longer than 4’ and not have enough space.

    You say not to use peat moss, but peat moss is in your Amazon storefront?? Genuinely confused. I’m looking to buy substrate from homedepot but not sure exactly which one. I just don’t wanna buy the peat moss.

    • @nightinggale6470
      @nightinggale6470 2 месяца назад +2

      Peat moss works well as a humidity retaining substrate, although unfortunately it’s not environmentally sustainable. Coconut husk can be a good alternative.

    This video is for what we call “new comers”. I’m old school. Many people that are from that old school era don’t do gigantic enclosures. There’s a lot of good and helpful information on this video. But (respectfully) there’s a lot of misinformation here too. But this video is good for someone that wants a pet ball python for eye candy.
