Thanks for video taping these beautiful tanks. I was stuck getting some creative ideas for mine, but your footage allowed me to get my creative juices flowing.
Thanks, mate :) In my opinion, however, the tanks in 2013 were not so good as in 2012. Last year I liked almost every aquarium, and this year there were only few which I really enjoyed :)
The scaping itself is about 10-12 hours maximum, or so. But - there is usually a long pregrowing-phase, done at home. I mean, the best scapers set up a tank of similar dimensions at home, several months before the competition, and then disassemble the whole layout, transport it to the exhibition hall, and assemble everything again.
Wow - loving your channel btw, watched many vids during lunch :) Agree with Trena - side views great. On some tanks, side view better than front (all awesome setups though..)
No artifical plant could "mimic" the beauty of a natural aquascape. Do you there are two large us-based forums on aquarium plants, "The Planted Tank" (net) and "Aquatic Plant Central" (com)? Both are filled with useful informations on "how to do this" :)
For moving water in the aquarium so called "powerheads" are used. Check EcoTech Marine VorTech propeller pumps, JBL Oceanstream, or Hydor Corallia to see what I mean :)
Hehe, I was thinking whether I should show the sides, or not... :) Last year I was filming using the tripod, and there were only frontal views. But this year I decided to be more flexible, and that's why I was holding my camera in my hand. This makes possible to move around the tank, so I got advantage of that :)
how is that contest working exactly? its not like someone can make his/her tank home and bring it there. are they all made on the location a few weeks in advance or something?
Hemianthus callitrichoides, Hydrocotyle tripartita, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Staurogyne repens, Pogostemon helferi, Eleocharis accicularis and one small clump of Bucephalandra sp. in the crevice on the right side.
Actually you can have one at home that's just as clean....I have one that's been set-up since july/12 and it's doing great...the otocinclus keep my tank very clean(I have 5) and any green algae I get on my glass I scrape off with a plastic card....in fact I'm in the process of setting up my 120 gal at the moment as a planted tank....I think I will never do sat
My favourite is the forth one, the rest doesn't impress me much... I mean, they are very skillfully arranged, but simply they are not "nice" (IMHO, of course :) ).
DefiniteAquascapeTV I just started my first aquarium with my son, its a 15g, i added 3 kinds of plants, its excellent LEDs, and added yeast CO2 2 hours ago, plants are not losing health, but didnt grow in 2 weeks, i hope the CO2 will help. Im getting a new house built next spring, i WILL build a bigger aquarium then, hidden in a wall probably. I like beautiful small fish groups, but seeing these clips with stunning landscapes, its near more cool than the fishes. Its like honey i shrunk the kids movie. I wish it becomes a hobby and i can enjoy the calm picture frame to relax when im inside.
Sad that you can't have such aquariums at home. Try to clean and care them over months and years... good luck, it just isn't really practicable. The whole ground will become rotten in a year or a half.
I also love real plants ... but whenever I was planting my aquarium with real plants they were soon getting out of control flooding the tank and leaving no space for the fishes ... !

Ashley Valentine Great! That's exactly my goal - to inspire other aquarists :)
The final two are just spectacular.
Amazing aquariums! I bet it was a difficult to judge contest . Really like your channel. Keep up the good work!
The Pinnatifida got very popular, many of them used it this year, very nice plant
Спасибо за демонстрацию, этого великолепия!
Wow just amazing.. I have to ask, how do you pull yourself away from these aquariums. I could sit and watch them all day.
Thanks! :) More aquarium videos coming soon, I've just returned from PetFair 2013, organized in the city of Łódź, Poland :)
Mesmerizing! Really enjoyed the side views.

I'm glad you did, cuz this was somewhat new idea, and I wanted to see how it works :)
Beautiful
On the second aquarium, is there a light on the background? If there is, is it in front of or behind the background. Thanks, great video by the way.

beautiful. sad this artform is mostly overlooked in usa. i would love to know how to do this or where to buy realistic silk plants to mimic the look.

Są jakieś poradniki dotyczace kompozycji w akwariach ?
Beautiful stuff!!
True :) Some of these tanks are really great :)
No worries, mate :) Glad to help :)
PARABENS OTIMAS FILMAGENS MUITO OBRIGADO
Great work. What is the music used in this video?....love it.
It's called "Time to breathe", and is available from royalty-free.tv :)
how is that contest working exactly? its not like someone can make his/her tank home and bring it there. are they all made on the location a few weeks in advance or something?
How much time participants of the contest have to arranging and set up that tanks?
Great video
Either pregrown at home for several weeks / months, or scaped directly on site, using plants from the pet shop.
Hi there, what pump/filter would you recommend if I wanted water movement from 1 side of the tank to the next? 4ft tank
Thanks
hey what's the majority lightning for these tanks if you know
Cheers
I don't know, but you can ask at one of Australia's planted tank forums - do you know it? It's called "Aquarium Life".
btw, great video! i love it! :)
T5 fluorescent lamps, probably 35W or 39W.
i am trying to find if there is contest or showrooms like somewhere in canada or northern states ?
Thanks for sharing .
You're welcome :)
Merci, ça donne de bonnes idées.
definiteAquascapeTV can u mention the plants used in that 1st tank please?
Hemianthus callitrichoides, Hydrocotyle tripartita, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Staurogyne repens, Pogostemon helferi, Eleocharis accicularis and one small clump of Bucephalandra sp. in the crevice on the right side.
Thanks! :)
great tanks
I was wondering, How they manage to transfer a fully planted aquarium to the contest site?
Hej,jaki jest mejl do Ciebie bo na stronie niby podajesz kontakt ale mejla nie ma!!!
I like the one before last the most :) Jan Simon Knispel's layout from the last year was better (in my opinion, of course :) )
It is a very clean water tank
Can anyone tell me whats plants onnthe 1st tank? He one that look like weeping moss
Do you mean me in particular? Or the aquascapers who took part in the contest? Anyway, none of us use plastic plants, only real, living stuff :)
I think I have to agree with you that last years taks seemed a little more impressive. Adrie Baumann is still a genius though.
amazing tanks. No fish but amazing tanks!!
Fish are forbidden by the rules of the contest...
i thought #1 wasn't that great but still amazing tanks
Yeah, they are nice - but I liked tanks from the last year more... :)
Great! :) Don't forget to post a video about your new tank, here on RUclips :)
nice!
Hehe, all of them are clean :)
Yeah, well... I noticed some cones in other aquariums, too, seems like some other people "caught" the cone-virus... ;)
My favourite is the forth one, the rest doesn't impress me much... I mean, they are very skillfully arranged, but simply they are not "nice" (IMHO, of course :) ).
yes. Its better than saying the aren't "nice". They are very nice but maybe not exceptional. ;)
Of course it wont, and you can keep such tanks for a very long time. It's just the matter of proper maintenance.
it would be 2x times better with fishes :D
i am VERY impressed, i want that in my basement, NOW !
Hehe, start practising aquascaping, and one day you will be also able to make such tanks yourself :) (if you are not able to do them yet)

Mike More nice
ich habe angefangen gelt zu sparen , in 2 monaten werde ich mir auch so ein schönes akvarium einrichten aber amazon style
Aha, "they are not exceptional", you mean?
I wish I had the same problem... ;)
lol :) Well, both types, freshwater and saltwater, have their pros and cons :)
Sorry I didn't finish...lol.....these tanks make me never want to do saltwater again

Usually it's hunger... ;)

"Exceptional" would be a better word
Hehe, I'd say the are nice, but not very original ;) ;)
Thanks! :)
