  • On the 500th anniversary of the election of Gustav Vasa as king, the man who through hunger of worldly power initiated the protestant reform of Sweden, a unique catholic procession was held in the city of Växjö.
The procession begun in the city's cathedral, resulting in the very first catholic service in the sacred building since the reformation, and finished in the city's contemporary catholic church.
It was held in honor of St Sigfrid of Växjö, Apostle of Sweden (1045 †) who was commissioned by an angel to build the same cathedral. His relics was sadly thrown away during the reformation but a statue made for this special occasion was placed on the spot where his relics once were laid, and then blessed.
Saint Sigfrid of Växjö -- pray for us.
