Hi! Nice work. Will you show the planning of the fly? I used blender for this and it give me a nice results, especially on huge areas like castles. Will you show the possibilities of free tools to clean up the 3D IbM (image based model) model, such as cloud comapre or meshroom? I am not sure about that solutions inside of meshroom.
I use UAVs and photogrammetry tools almost every day professionally for precise measurements and generation of DEMs, DSM, Point Clouds, Orthomosaics, 3D models etc. You had pretty good results for your first try. Well done. Even though scaling and actual dimensions and position should be off, you don't need them for your scope. (just mention this for you to know that there are methods to create a precise model accurate to cm or even mm but requires more to be done in hardware and software side.) Just a tip for the shutter camera button to make your life easier so you do not manually press it and you can focus only on flying the drone. Use the camera settings on your drone and set it to take a photo every 2 sec. (or more if you like)
Hunter Brittell You really can’t, you won’t be able to get enough angles and the resolution isn’t great when you zoom in, google already tried something like this with google earth studio, it’s cool but it really doesn’t work.
@@hunterjayfilm Well I scanned a mountain with google earths 3d view for fun and it looks really nice! There are some places captured with amazing detail by google, I even was able to see small pebbles on the ground... just search for higher mountains and maybe you find a nice spot ;) Scanning scans is a fun little experiment :D
It'd be cool to see a photo-scan of an urban environment rendered in orthographic mode. An orthographic photograph - impossible in the real world, but fairly simple using photo-scan and blender.
I have used meshroom several times and it always amazes me with how good of a job it can do. But yeah, the wait is sometimes.... you know... This scene looks crazy good.
This looks amazing bro, new sub, you earned it. Also, I got to share this video with my CG friends. *And when I say CG friends, I don't mean one generated on the computer like AI or something, I mean real people who are interested in CG work* : )
Thank you for testing this out CG Geek. I saw your previous video's about Photo scanning and I was wondering of the software could handle large scale objects and now we know! :-)
I have no idea how I have missed it's release. Thank you, my future scans will be better due to your comment. :) There is also Unity delighter, but I do not have had time to check it out.
Perunapiirakka glad I helped. I think the unity plugin is nice but I think the agisoft delighter is doing a better job and it’s standalone and pretty easy to use. You don’t need photoscan (ie metashape) to use it so I prefer it over unity which is more tedious to use
I recommend that you take a look at MeshLab, its great for editing point cloud data, like removing all the sky and tree coloured points and even meshing the data using marching cube etc.
Hi, thanks for the video. I once saw a video about the Quixel guys doing scanning. They seem to put two balls in very scene, one reflective metal ball, the other is a white non-reflective ball. What is the purpose of those two balls ?
is there negativ shatow ( if you take whit shadow then the chatow is like baked ) and you use a light sourse in blender and bake that nagative removing the IRL baked shadows. ?
What resolution have you shot the pictures in and how long did it take for meshroom I did a scan with 60 2k images And it took ages and wasn't looking good at all
Hellooo I have one question, is this posible to do with huge landscapes areas? I need it for big presentation so dont need in highly detailed like you did
What PC case is that which you have? I notice the GPU is mounted 90° from the motherboard, does the case provide that, or do you use something else with it?

Can you tell me what resolution your camera mounted on the drone is? 12mp? 40mp?
I Literally saw this comment right while you said it in the video
Next video: IS IT POSSIBLE TO PHOTO SCAN THE EARTH!?!?!?!?
I think google already kinda did that with google earth/maps
Hunter Brittell
You really can’t, you won’t be able to get enough angles and the resolution isn’t great when you zoom in, google already tried something like this with google earth studio, it’s cool but it really doesn’t work.
*NASA wants to know your location*
talk to my gear dude

Photo scanning using a drone looks really effective. I'd be interested to see you photo scan the outside of a house or building to use in Blender.
Doing houses is a bit harder without circular polarized filters as reflections can mess up the scan
Low poly house photoscans are made by google in google maps already
*CG Geek* : is it possible to 3D Photoscan a mountain ?!
*My PC* : Oh shit , Here we go again .
Let’s 3D photoscan Area 51
Let's 3d photoscan area 51 and replace the 51 with 69
Love the dumping of the pictures
It'd be cool to see a photo-scan of an urban environment rendered in orthographic mode.
An orthographic photograph - impossible in the real world, but fairly simple using photo-scan and blender.
I guess you can get pretty close to ortho if you move suuuuper far away from the city and zoom in a lot.
All you need is a drone.... and IBMs data center. Easy peasy!
I have used meshroom several times and it always amazes me with how good of a job it can do. But yeah, the wait is sometimes.... you know... This scene looks crazy good.
Titan RTX - Wow - pullin out the big guns. Looks great
This makes me want to brush the dust off the drones at home. Really cool tutorial!
Live action tutorials my man! That would be cool.
As a scandinavian, i bet you were shaking your head when he was showing off the «mountain»
@@Spu7Nix In Norway that would be considered a hill. haha
hey Olav
That's very cool. Time to scan national monuments. Mount Rushmore, Statue of Liberty, etc... VR tours for those that can't travel.
I don't have a drone but I got a pretty strong throwing arm, think I can pull it off?
I am not one to give legal advice.
Yeah I'd say you can
stop holding yourself back and do it! (no, really, please don't)
I would love to see more of these photo-scan videos!
This is amazing!! I love that you experiment with stuff like this!
It’s amazing how good meshroom is, it being free makes it even better.🤯
Hey man thanks for all these vids! They truly help!
This is awesome and gave me a bunch of ideas, thanks!
That is so cool.. Seriously.. Very inspirational :)
this is so cool , thank you!
Super cool!! Thanks
Now, this solves the process of modeling!
Unbelievable! Impressive results, dude, keep it up!
We use a program at work called Pix4D. You should see what you can do with that!
This looks awesome!
That's awesome it looks soooo!!! COOL!!
Very cool!
Amazing!
Totally do more photoscans, its so dope!
WHY DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE VIEWS!!!! youtube you disappoint me
Wow!! You are the best!!!
This looks amazing bro, new sub, you earned it. Also, I got to share this video with my CG friends.

This is incredible!!!
Love it

this video deserve to get a lot of view
Wow! That was cool. I got to try that.
This is awesome!
No words. Wow!
Dude!! More videos like this! Please! Try doing a building.
tried scanning something simple with my pc, it just hung and could not do anything for hours i gave up
Good job man !!!
This really went far beyond my expectations.
"This PC only has 16GB of RAM"..... (Cool tutorial tho, seriously amazing)
Thats Awesome!!
I photo scanned the Portland headlight up in Maine with my mavic pro... worked great
Amazing! Very inovative!
Omg this is amazing
You are genius!
Awesome video!
six minutes of photoscanning, six minutes of beeing amazed how cool it looks :D
maybe honestly the coolest thing I have ever seen
IMPRESSIVE
Interesting!
Gives me a lot of hope for elderscrolls6. Nice video. Sadly I'm missing a drone to do it myself :)
amezing thanks
Wow i can belive, good work man.....
That's amazing
That is ground breaking and BIG BRAIN xD
you are amazing dude
Mind-blown
Bruh u amazing
unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏻
Use agisoft delighter it’s a free tool to remove shadows from scanned meshes and balance texture lighting. It’s doing a very good job. Try it out!
I have no idea how I have missed it's release.
Thank you, my future scans will be better due to your comment. :)

Jaw Dropping!!!
"Looks like a picture, but it's 3D" XD great job, dude!
That is really cool. I imagine Hollywood using an IMAX camera to scan the grand canyon, or some other neat stuff
i love this effect that you pour the pics to the pc 4:04
now i can say you are a madman
You're absolutely cooler than 1 years ago 3Dlizing a roots, except for the mountain.... no, it's just a ditch! lollololol
That really looks like an old quarry.
"can you photoscan a mountain?"
*photoscans a cliff*
very nice
This is just a way of creating the entire world into a game where you are there as a player, with respawns, and I'm being actually serious
MFS2020
wow is so good i love pro!
wish there was that kind of nature where I live :(
Great video tough!
Who wants to top that unexpectedly high resolution mountain with sprinkles using the legendary power of particle instances by the guru
I want to 😊

Epic
You r best keep it up
We all know you‘d be able to create an exact copy of this mountain within 15 minutes in blender.
Yeah but the texture tho !!
Ok, I guess I'm getting a drone now!
which camera you use to scan it? thanks!
I am honestly at a loss for words.
Is there a way to run blender 2.8 smoothly with intel hd graphics 3000
Love the video, you will get better temps on the gpu if you don't out it so close to the glass
could you try using agisoft delighter to remove the shadows on your model?
Really impressive, just why some quality loss points in the mensh. Hope to see more of this
omg...it looks stunning. Being an artist is hard, even have to learn how to use a drone. :D

I have done something similar for a school project in 2016, with phantom 3 pro, I had the same reaction when I saw the result :P
HOLY CRAP
Wow
Yeah, I want a drone now
Awesome Video which drone do you have used ?
nice
