no me too, i was a subscriber for a while, i never could really pinpoint it but the tone in his voice and the things he talked about always rubbed me the wrong way. i tried to stick around to show support for his nonprofit but the more i learned about it the more i realized something was off, i had a really hard time finding information on it in general and the way he talked about it was pushy. i don’t know much about the inner workings of nonprofits but i’m positive there’s better ways than manipulating and begging your subscribers and the people around you to donate. he seems like a really bitter person that thinks highly of himself. i truly think it’s something he can work on and even come back from but he needs to really reflect on himself, his actions, and how he wants to continue. i personally think he should focus more on photography and his nonprofit and less on youtube. he keeps messing up and if he doesn’t switch up fast it’s just goin to keep going downhill.
Jake and Nick(isnotgreen) have always struck me as "people who wanted to be youtubers but didn't care about the content" types. They always talked about topics 100 other people had covered and the content seemed boring and forced. Especially Jakes 100 videos in 100 days thing. And then he turned to live streaming to try engage his audience so now his uninspired, awkward, clunky content was like 10 times longer per video :/ He always just seemed angry and just very awkward. He didnt make a lot of good or unique point. I was interested in how his channel would grow at first but quickly became disinterested

You can tell he is spiralling. I sense a lot of jealousy and resentment from him towards other more successful creators, and I know how impossible it feels sometimes to have a chronic illness. Everything IS 10x harder, and it feels awful to watch people get so far ahead while you’re stuck in a painful cycle. Despite that, you still have to recognize that you aren’t entitled to views or people’s money. I hope he has some sort of support system like family that will help him to take some time off and relieve the financial burden because he definitely needs time off the internet.
I'm also chronically ill and this is exactly my take. It's really easy, because of how isolating and exhausting it is, to lose yourself in resentment and anger. It's even a stage of grief that i think a lot of people go through as they try to come to terms with their own illness and limits. Often surgery and stuff is even traumatizing because our healthcare system sucks so much. So like, i feel a ton of empathy for him? But also......... You can't act like an entitled little baby. People aren't required to watch you or contribute. Capitalism can't be solved by GoFundMe or whatever. It's awful. I wish he would put his frustration where it belongs there. He even has a platform! He could talk about the problems in the healthcare system, the problems of doctors refusing to help chronically ill people, the problems of trying to access care in a for profit system. Okay, he has *Chronic Lyme* which is not a real diagnosis. Which is why he had to get it from quack doctor with multiple disciplines from Maine board of medicine. Maybe he has chronic pain, I wouldn't be surprised if he's faking it seeing as it's incredibly well timed, but I have chronic illness and I'd never do half the crap he has.

I do think it’s totally possible he has been misdiagnosed given what we know about that doctor, but his knee issues are very real. I don’t think it’s “well-timed” at all, he’s been talking about his chronic pain for years. Calling it "chronic lyme" is incorrect, but technically so is "long covid" since the person isn't technically still infected with covid. I've done a bit more looking into the situation and i didn't realize he was literally just whining because people didn't contribute to his non-profit charity. I thought people were saying "his charity" meaning like... His GoFundMe or something. He literally made a whole entire charity??! 💀💀💀 I don't even know what to say about that. i’m a chronically online 23 y/0 i have chronic lyme and other disabilities and i’ve never felt the desire to apply, donate, or even tell other people about his charity. If that doesn’t say something idk what does. there is soooo little disclosure on what the fund does, or how the person who gets the funds is selected. i find it really irresponsible for him to use photos of yters that ab*sed women to clickbait more views. it’s sad he would complain about lack of attention for something he doesn’t put active work into promoting (in ways that would not be blackmail).

before i was more indulged in the commentary space i had my go-to 3 channels that i would watch in order to keep up with trends (i don’t have tiktok and i only recently re-downloaded instagram, so i was feeling a bit out of the loop). in this rotation was jake, who i originally found to be someone who got a bit too intense, but had good intentions deep down. it was only when he started covering the hawk tua girl that i started to reflect on his content and realized that he’s just… mean. he very rarely actually has a reason to go after someone, and just decides someone is morally incorrect even if they’re simply just making content he isn’t interested in. i do see his frustrations with this situation, i would imagine running your own charity when you have no prior experience (and lets be honest… he doesn’t seem to be the most equipped to be running a non profit) and are chronically ill yourself would be stressful, and i agree that it would be a bit disappointing for people you consider friends who make more of an income than you won’t donate. that being said, jake is owed nothing from these people, and he very easily could have messaged these people and expressed how hurt he was that they weren’t donating. a proper discussion surrounding why they haven’t donated, what he’s doing wrong, and steps he can make moving forward could have taken place, but instead he posted a video that further damaged the reputation that was already hanging by a thread. also, never stop is sketchy. there’s definitely a reason why people are so hesitant to give him their money, and the fact he is incapable of recognizing that and putting in the work to make the necessary changes just proves that he is not someone who should be running a charity.

If you promise a donation or investment , whether be it to a charity or company, your moral obligation is to follow through, contract or not. Thats your MORAL obligation. Especially if you have presented yourself as a close friend or colleague of company or charity you have promised to invest in. Its very possible that these agreements were made by word of mouth between Jake and an individual he believed he could trust. That being said- a verbal agreement or verbal “threat” is just that. Verbal. The best outcome here for Jake is that he has some sort of written correspondence of the other parties making it clear that they fully intended on donating or contributing and then backing out for no good reason. IMO if you pull out of a promise or obligation you need to have a good reason, and you need to communicate it to the person you are letting down. This is not blackmail. Blackmail is when someone threatens to lie about you and fabricate evidence or reports to authorities that could result in legal repercussions. Ill wait for the receipts. IMO this is petty drama and not worth anyone making a video about.
That’s the thing, I wanted to know if anyone actually promised him anything. It would be different if they did but from what he’s said he hasn’t particularly said that. Okay, he has *Chronic Lyme* which is not a real diagnosis. Which is why he had to get it from quack doctor with multiple disciplines from Maine board of medicine. Maybe he has chronic pain, I wouldn't be surprised if he's faking it seeing as it's incredibly well timed, but I have chronic illness and I'd never do half the crap he has.

I do think it’s totally possible he has been misdiagnosed given what we know about that doctor, but his knee issues are very real. I don’t think it’s “well-timed” at all, he’s been talking about his chronic pain for years. Totally fair to call out his doctor-I think he may have been misled.

Calling it "chronic lyme" is incorrect, but technically so is "long covid" since the person isn't technically still infected with covid.

i’m a chronically online 23 y/0 i have chronic lyme and other disabilities and i’ve never felt the desire to apply, donate, or even tell other people about his charity. If that doesn’t say something idk what does. there is soooo little disclosure on what the fund does, or how the person who gets the funds is selected. i find it really irresponsible for him to use photos of yters that ab*sed women to clickbait more views. it’s sad he would complain about lack of attention for something he doesn’t put active work into promoting (in ways that would not be blackmail).

before i was more indulged in the commentary space i had my go-to 3 channels that i would watch in order to keep up with trends (i don’t have tiktok and i only recently re-downloaded instagram, so i was feeling a bit out of the loop). in this rotation was jake, who i originally found to be someone who got a bit too intense, but had good intentions deep down. it was only when he started covering the hawk tua girl that i started to reflect on his content and realized that he’s just… mean. he very rarely actually has a reason to go after someone, and just decides someone is morally incorrect even if they’re simply just making content he isn’t interested in.
i do see his frustrations with this situation, i would imagine running your own charity when you have no prior experience (and lets be honest… he doesn’t seem to be the most equipped to be running a non profit) and are chronically ill yourself would be stressful, and i agree that it would be a bit disappointing for people you consider friends who make more of an income than you won’t donate. that being said, jake is owed nothing from these people, and he very easily could have messaged these people and expressed how hurt he was that they weren’t donating. a proper discussion surrounding why they haven’t donated, what he’s doing wrong, and steps he can make moving forward could have taken place, but instead he posted a video that further damaged the reputation that was already hanging by a thread.
also, never stop is sketchy. there’s definitely a reason why people are so hesitant to give him their money, and the fact he is incapable of recognizing that and putting in the work to make the necessary changes just proves that he is not someone who should be running a charity.

when i used to watch Jake Doolittle, he was, for me, in the same basket as EthanIsOnline or NickIsNotGreen as problematic commentary youtubers i would sometimes watch to get the run down on a situation i barely care about while i’m cleaning my room or smth, but i didn’t have a specific reason as to why i found him problematic like Eden or Nick, he just gave me the same vibes… and now that he’s a confirmed dickhead, it all makes sense. this is why he can’t build a lasting loyal audience: he’s off and somewhat rude, his content feels forced, he just always looks like he doesn’t wanna be there… he rarely seems to be passionate or having fun in his videos, and that’s just not someone i want to get involved with as an audience member. i’d rather my watchtime go to people who make an effort and are genuine

Funny enough a few months ago he was asking subscribers to sign up to volunteer and I did (before I heard ab the shit he does with his charity) and scheduled a phone interview but after reading ab all the shit he does with never stop I ended up not going. He also tried to appeal to me bc of the fact that he and his fiancée went to school where I currently do and I was like oh ok so this is manipulation.

Yeah he probably has gone trough a lot, no one is saying he hasn't. But so have many others. There are paraplegic people who make content and help others while using their mouth to use the mouse.
But that doesn't excuse him to say anything he wants and then make an apology video expecting everything being ok as long as he explains. Explaining too much is one of his big issues. He needs to stop being so pushy, if someone says they don't want to donate to his cause or ghost him, he needs to let go and move on from it.
Also don't bite hands who have helped you before. What he did with Ethan was so bad and unnecessary and cut off his chances to ever work with him again, only because he got bitter for being told no. He just can't accept no. If he pushes someone and tries to guilt trip people, he pushes them away instead. It just seems to me like he doesn't understand it's his pushy and guilt tripping behaviour that pushes people away. If he would learn to be less pushy and less bitter if people say no, I think he could make a comeback after taking a break. He needs a nieche of his own.

Plus if he donates to a cause, he still shouldn't except the other person to do the same or blackmail them to do it. Yeah it is a bit crappy to not return the favor but at the same time, donations are supposed to be unconditional acts of good will, not pawns for favours. Thats why they are called donations. That's what Ethan did earlier. He didn't have to donate anything to Jake's cause but he did. And even then it was because someone else didn't donate his cause. He needs to learn that donations are freewillingly given. You can't just go and guilt trip or blackmail people to do something that is supposed to actually be something nice and positive.
Btw I also have chronical pains and problems that make my daily life difficult although maybe not as bad as Jake's, but they don't excuse bad behaviour.

If you promise a donation or investment , whether be it to a charity or company, your moral obligation is to follow through, contract or not. Thats your MORAL obligation. Especially if you have presented yourself as a close friend or colleague of company or charity you have promised to invest in.
Its very possible that these agreements were made by word of mouth between Jake and an individual he believed he could trust. That being said- a verbal agreement or verbal “threat” is just that. Verbal.
The best outcome here for Jake is that he has some sort of written correspondence of the other parties making it clear that they fully intended on donating or contributing and then backing out for no good reason. IMO if you pull out of a promise or obligation you need to have a good reason, and you need to communicate it to the person you are letting down.
This is not blackmail. Blackmail is when someone threatens to lie about you and fabricate evidence or reports to authorities that could result in legal repercussions.

That’s the thing, I wanted to know if anyone actually promised him anything. It would be different if they did but from what he’s said he hasn’t particularly said that.
