Basically whatever you buy this house for is going to be buying the land only ..house would need to be demolished and rebuilt.IMOP. Nothing is worth saving due to contamination from the water .Whatever pipes ,sewer/septic underground would need investigating also . If you have the need to build a new house with new requirements by State/County be prepared to spend big $$$$$.This property is not on the list of quick-flips with limited budgets for sure ..I would think very carefully before investing ..but the view is awesome !!
"WAKE UP CALL:” Imagine when raining creeks fill w/water, we all witnessed the natural rise of creeks and rivers all our lives during snow melts, thunderstorms, etc. What causes 10 foot surges & increase in depth of that water every 4 hours till a maximum depth 50ft is achieved? Could the cause be opening floodgates on four different dams or more and/or including several gates at a time on extremely large reservoirs which do exist north of this destruction be the reason for those surges that everybody testified in the region? It occurred specifically in North Carolina and Tennessee. What increased that water is they opened the next gates & we get another surge and an additional 10 feet of water with the rivers already full. This is the reality of what happened. There’s no other reason for surge of that proportion in a natural rain in 60+ years on this earth I’ve never witnessed such a surge until this storm surge on top of mountains. It is also the cause for the extreme displacement of anchored buildings to be washed off their foundations. High waters have never done that, only a surge can do that and once you got 40 feet of water full of every type of board, wood, toy, canned goods, bed frames, cars, tractors, trucks, trailers, wagons, campers, propane, tanks, concrete foundation, blocks, blacktop, concrete, bicycles, motorcycles, gas cans, rocks, and trees with the roots intact. Would that not also be the cause of the gorge left in its wake in excess of 20 feet and some locations deeper? Something's not adding up and somebody’s lying and if that’s the case it would explain no government help and a media blackout in order to take the attention off of what really happened. As far as I’m concerned, all guilty parties would do everything and anything to make sure the secret didn’t get out and exposed and complete lack of empathy for human life and media attention creating another problem that the people pulling those levers in those locales not only changed the land geographically permanent, but genocide their own people in their own communities. Neighbors, kin folk, strangers, and anyone in their wake and are directly responsible. The ones who should be under the microscope seen as the guiltiest & 30 people could pull off a catastrophe this large, very very easily. North Carolina and Tennessee have some very evil traitors living among them who will kill hundreds without the blink of an eye. And now that they done it, they’ll have no problem repeating on a larger scale. They are dangerous. People must be found out and dealt with on an extreme level. There’s no safety in those communities until that is resolved." - Jeff Muzinoski
Being it a wooden building, all wood has been impregnated with water that was even not simply water. All those nasty things that went into the river. It flooded cemeteries... What did the water do to the wooden foundation or wooden walls at spots that can not bee inspected from outside by simply looking at it? 05:59 gives a first clue. ""I don't know what is under it"". 07:17 debris went into the building too, for sure. You only see what just did not. If you, just on a simple inspection, say "serious issues"... Red flag! Door is stuck, red flag 2 (opening not square anymore) 10:06 Heather 3/4 under water. So all the walls have been 3/4 under water than? And also all those remaining beams you see?? Red flag 3 All, yes all electrical wires need to replaced. Nothing is safe when water was here. Red flag 4 So, no, I would not buy it. ((would by one of the clocks at 10:36, very nice, left one reminds me of my grandma)) I think it is cheaper to take it down and build new if you like the spot. And please, build with stone, bricks or concrete all around on the outside! So much stronger and it will stay against another rising river! Against the stones or bricks, you can add wooden panels to get the 'old look'.
Anyone who buys this property is restricted to raising it at least 8 feet. If not more. I think you need an engineer inspection if you go higher than 9 feet anyway yeah a lot of work and probably not worth the trouble. Thanks for your input.
It's a beautiful site and home. I don't know the location but I can see other homes sitting very close which to me makes it not as valuable. I love my trees and space. In this case, I would have an expert come in and look the home over for everything that is wrong and can go wrong in the future. If it is an older home as discussed during the video I would try and save the older part and add on as needed for yourself. I agree on the ceilings to open them up for more air and space. Also the light is only coming in front and back of the home. The other doors would be closed to the baths leaving even less light during the day time. If this is a Real Cabin with Hand hune logs for the walls I think it is worth saving. To me, the lot is the valuable part. Do you want to live in that space as I call it or in your place. Seems to be a quiet place, it felt good to me. I would live there if it was a real cabin, real logs, etc. Everything else can be fixed. wiring, plumbing, well, septic. As for raising it the eight feet it would be a place to park a car. Writing down all the pros and cons and then ask yourself, is this a place I want to live, forget about the flood. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. I pray God leads you in your thoughts and steps to do what is right for yourself, so you and your sister will enjoy a place of comfort and quiet to the Lord. Take care and may God bless you all your days, Go in Peace.
I saw people carrying marbles/ small ball with them when looking at homes to see how level It is. 😢💔For that couple a lifetime of hard work gone. 😮 The back view is fantastic, if it's raised underneath parking space? Mr cool system is lower cost than that h vac system. I'd hate to see land developer get that lil jewel.
Unless you could do the work yourselves probably not worth it. Doubt it will sell, you could wait a year or so and tear it down and put a tiny house on the site
$50k to raise it, $50k to finish inside & $30 to $40k to landscape the place, I would walk away from this.

If you can buy the house then you dont need all the free help you have been getting since the hurricane.
This is not nearly the same and would never expect that. You truly don't know me.

We are still debating the purchase. It will be a ton of work as well as expense so we will keep everyone posted.
