I'm so glad they cast Halle Bailey to be Ariel. It makes it more authentic because if you grew up watching the Little Mermaid and listening to the songs like I did, you'd be able to tell that The Mermaid kingdom was located in the Caribbean. Every time Sebastian sang or had others sing with him it was all Caribbean music which is a beautiful genre of music that always makes me want to dance and sing alone. Also, Halle's voice in this trailer brought happy tears to my eyes and took me back to my childhood.

When they made the decision to cast Halle in the beginning, I was worried. She received so much unwanted hate just for accepting the opportunity to make a whole new generation smile and I was nervous that maybe Hollywood set her up to fail. I think I hold onto my hope still just in case. But seeing her on that screen just made me so overwhelmed because she's gorgeous, she's ethereal. My impressions:
Generic setting that seems more like a documentary, the same song sung in the same way, a performance flatter than a wall, the same costumes worthy of a cosplayer, a teaser with a lousy edition aimed only at those who saw The Little Mermaid 89.
With a voice with a lot of energy and passion as the only salvageable point.
In short: the same but without the inspiration and innovation that the original had.
