Their okonomiyaki is so tasty and fun. Otherwise, I've been meaning to visit an AYCE Mexican Brunch buffet at Los Cucos Mexican Cafe.
I’m in Vegas now, if there’s any other close to the strip that u recommend please let me know. I just don’t think think it’s reasonable for me to spend just as much or more to get to a place then what the AYCE would be off strip
We used to go to Todai in the Miracle Mile Shops every trip to Vegas until they closed. Then we tried Makino and have been going there ever since. We always suspected that there was a tie to Todai because of the giant octopus on the ceiling.
Nice Chen ... been a fan since you started ! you have a nice way to deliver the review and always respectful and even if its not that good you have a way to deliver the review thats respectful and diplomatic... great job and keep it up !
Yes, while every restaurant is a buffet if you're willing to pay, a straight up buffet is certainly more value for your money lol. Thanks for watching!
I’m not a raw fish sushi fan but there’s enough here I would eat and probably really enjoy. Thanks for another great video Shin! Have a great rest of the week!
You are so well spoken! The only other Vegas vlogger I’ve come across that’s well spoken is babealabe which I’m a huge fan of. I’m so happy to have found your channel! Keep rocking it!
Thank you, yes she is very well spoken! I like her channel quite a bit. I get a lot of restaurant opening dates info from her. Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching!
I'm so glad you reviewed this place! Ever since you tried that other buffet that was similar recently, I was looking here. The desserts look really nice. But I will need to definitely get some of that sukiyaki. Thanks again for another great video on local places!
I was in love with the sukiyaki. I haven't had it in so long and they made it very well at Makino. I kind of want some more now lol. Thanks for watching!
I must say that is one beautiful buffet. Everything was organized so nicely and uniform. The presentation was so colorful and one of the cleanest buffets I have seen. Thanks for bringing us a good local restaurant.
They definitely take good care of the buffet line here. Very clean, most items were refilled pretty quickly from what I could tell also. Good place here. Thanks for watching!
Looks very nice. Very large sushi section. I would load up on that fresh looking salad section and I love vegetable and shrimp tempura. I never saw that at buffet. Good review.
Thank you! I think Super Bowl week actually led to more people being in Las Vegas as opposed to watching Vegas content but I could be wrong. Either way, I'm happy with the growth of the channel. Thanks for watching!
I really appreciated your detailed food descriptions in this video and educational aspect. Excellent video Shin. I learned a lot about Asian foods today😊
We've been going to Makino for years. There used to be others at the Las Vegas Premium Outlet Mall and in Henderson, but they closed. I noted in this video that my favorite dessert was not there: Coffee Jello with cream or half-and-half on top. This is only minutes from the Strip and is well worth the brief detour.
Ooooh I have been craving sushi for so long, I'd destroy this buffet haha! Lovely video with awesome shots and views of all of the food. Great work Shin!!
That is one geat looking buffet. Definitely going to have to try that place next time I'm in Las Vegas. I can't stand paying nearly $30 for one roll on the strip.
Thank you for another great review! I love seeing places that are off strip where the locals might go. It's so helpful to see your reviews to help decide it if is worth the price to go somewhere. This place seems more reasonably priced than a lot of the strip buffets.
Way more reasonably priced compared to the strip absolutely! And a favorite amongst the locals here. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching Ruth!
Solid food options here at a decent price. The sushi in general was pretty good. Just a few notches below AYCE sushi that's made to order. If you're in the mood for sushi plus more, I think this is a good choice. Thanks for watching!
Great video today! I was wondering about that chocolate thing…I’d probably skip that and get some of those delicious desserts you filmed…..when you first got there..❤
I almost never get public chocolate fountain anything but I did it for the video this time around and at least I'm still alive right now lol. Definitely have some good looking desserts here. Thanks for watching!
Shin, always looking forward to your videos. I especially like that you, when pointing something out that might not be the best, always take into consideration that an item looses it's peak flavor etc from sitting out for a while. Like with the pork cutlet. I know from my own experience how quickly lean pork like that dries out. I also take that into consideration when getting carry out etc. But the buffet looked stunning, you probably could go back 3 more times and still not be able to try everything. The sushi selection alone. I can only imagine how great the buffet would be for dinner. I gladly would spend $30 for lunch. Looking forward to your next video.
Since I don’t rent a vehicle in Vegas I prefer the AYCE places that I can walk to. Yama.Sushi across from resorts world, jjangle sushi on flamingo 11/2 blocks from the strip, Gen kbbq in the miracle Mile shops at planet Hollywood and if I’m staying in the rio/palms/Gold Coast area I’ll walk to Umiya sushi by the palms casino. Also if it’s nice out walking to china town from that area isn’t too difficult and as u know there’s many places there for AYCE.
This is certainly more difficult to get to as a tourist on the strip without a car. You listed off some really great places within walking distance! Thanks for watching!
Makino is accessible by the public bus RTCSNV for $2 one way, every 20 minutes. Just go to Flamingo Rd & Las Vegas Blvd, bus stop on the Flamingo Rd side of Caesar's Palace, take the westbound Flamingo 202 bus, get off at Decatur Blvd, then walk north one block and you'll see the Makino building next to a shopping center.
I think it still has a bunch of sugar in it, I imagine the fruit they have available is the healthiest dessert but I'm rarely going to do that for my sweets lol. Thanks for watching!
VWS: I am so glad you started doing local Vegas spots that highlight the great diversity of foods at affordable prices. Downtown & the Strip are just Shady AF IMHO 😆 🤣 😂.
I also like exploring more local spots as well! I'm really getting to explore a lot of the valley (and save a little money on videos while doing it lol). Thanks for watching!
Definitely a great value. Besides all the various sushi they had a good amount of other Japanese dishes. I’m a huge fan of udon noodles. Love the texture of them. Ty for the great review.😊
You do a great job as always with a very nice detailed review. I love your honesty (viewers need that) even when it doesn't meet your expectation or up to par. What different with their menu between lunch and dinner other than the customized hand rolls?
I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between their lunch and dinner menus. I'm starting to realize I think I've only been there for lunch lol. I'll have to find out sometime later. Thanks for watching!
@@VegaswithShin Moving forward, whenever you do these reviews at buffets and there's a price gap between lunch and dinner, please ask to scope it out for your viewers. Hi Shin. Love the video. I used to love the fried rice from makino, now that Im a vegetarian it doesnt make sense to go there. Do you have any vegetarian or vegan restaurants planned for future videos? :)
I do have a handful on the lists though I don't think any of them are coming up any time soon. I'll get to the vegan/vegetarian spots on the strip here soon enough though. Thanks for watching!
I also like Imperial quite a bit. I used to go a lot prior to starting RUclips and needing to do a new place every week. I also like Sushi Neko as well! Thanks for watching!
Shin, have you done Krazy Buffet yet? Makino seems like good value. $30 for a weekend AYCE is very competitive. Sukiyaki was the first dish I had ever ordered in a Japanese restaurant. I had no idea what it was and had ordered it only because I had no clue about Japanese food and didn't want to look stupid in front of my date and the song Sukiyaki by a group called A Taste Of Honey was a top song on the Top 40 List. It became my dish when we ate there each week. Then the restaurant closed up, and I broke up with her. Oddly enough, I've never had it again because the girl broke my heart and each time I see it, it reminds of the sad lyrics of that song.
I have done Krazy Buffet and while cheaper, it's definitely better at Makino. It's funny how we end up associating smells, tastes and sounds to people in our past. I have a similar hangup with a specific scent called Lovespell. Messes me up lol. Thanks for watching!
I love japanese food. sushi, ramen, tempura, teriyaki, katsu, sukiyaki... yums! Did you see any unagi? Also, was hoping you would try the udon/ramen too. Decent value. Nice video shin.
I want to say I thought I saw unagi, but I'm too lazy to go back on the video to verify. I'd imagine if not for lunch, they would have it for dinner. Good value here for sure. Thanks for watching!
@vegaswithshin Didn’t see any unagi but there were eel rolls at least :) maybe there is straight unagi in the dinner offerings. Really enjoy your vids! I’ve been using your videos as a guide for my upcoming trip next month, for the hockey game!
The sushi all looked amazing 😋As did the rest of the buffet. I’d have to go for mango ice cream though. Sorry. Lol. How far is it from the strip? Went to local AYCE sushi/ Asian food in Chinatown that was highly recommended by food bloggers and it was just ok and very expensive. Really appreciate you reviewing all theses places for us. As an annually only visitor, time is limited and not to be squandered on mediocre food places off strip. lol . I trust your recommendations . Can I get a shoutout for my bday on the 15 th on your next video?
This is roughly 5-10 minutes west of the Rio/Palms. If you only make an annual trip to Vegas, I think you could do better than here to put together a food based trip, but for the money, I think this place offers pretty good value. I already shot my next video for this coming Saturday but I wish you a happy birthday here! Thanks for watching!
I like my food made to order as much as the next person, but I've always loved buffets being the big boy I am. Especially when they have a lot of variety at a good value price point. Thanks for watching!
It was the first stop of our journey after landing from SFO. However, although it's definitely Japanese, I give this spot a B+! I just feel our local spots in SF Bay has more fresh sushi.
I imagine the SF location would have fresher fish. We're still half a day inland from the coast here in Vegas but I think this place does the job adequately. B+ is a very fair grade. Thanks for watching!
Golden Coral's breakfast buffet is under $12, just skip the scrambled eggs- it's a frozen product made by food processors like SYSCO, US Foods. Sometimes they have hardboiled eggs which is good. They have bacon, sausage and all the carb stuff like toast/bagels, pancakes, french toast, cinnamon rolls plus fruit.
@@mreppen1 Better than BW, no expired or molded foods, there's more selection, the price of $7.99-9.99 depending on location for a breakfast buffet is reasonable.
I don’t care for the places where the sushi sits out. I prefer the regular AYCE places. Favorites being Sushi Mon, Sushi Hero, and Top Sushi and Oyster is great because the ratio of rice to fish for the nigiri.
@@VegaswithShin shrimp still frozen, prime rib tasted off, eggs Benedict hard and dry, bacon over cooked black, chiliques soggy bad taste, crabs cut in bad places meat stuck to shell 90% of the time, deserts were good liked the uba ice cream
O M G. Last time I went was literally right before the pandemic (Feb 2020). Price for weekend adult dinner was $31.95. 0:19 Price is now $44.95, a whopping 40.7% increase! Its not just the "big corporations" that are greedy. No thanks.
It's a different world post pandemic. You might have to start farming and raising your own food if you're not trying to pay inflated prices anywhere because it's everywhere. Thanks for watching!
@@VegaswithShin C'mon Shin. Palace Station combo pan roast in Nov 2019 I paid $24.99 before tax. Last month: $30.99, a 24% increase over a 4yr period. Local In-N-Out April 2020 Double Double price before tax. $4.35. Today's price: $5.25, which is a 20.6% increase. 🤷 40%+ is waaaay above the compound inflation rate for the past 4yrs.
@kenlovesMurica I used to pay $1.49 for a McDouble prior to the pandemic and its $3.39 now. Over 100%. But that's not going to stop me from getting McDoubles. Percentage increase is just one vector to look at. If $45 isn't worth it to you objectively, then that's fine. But I can easily eat $45 worth of food here at dinner regardless of how much it was 5 years ago and that's what I'd personally look at you know what I mean?
@@VegaswithShin Compounded CPI inflation rate for the past 4yrs is around 20%, and I'm aware it's a number based on an average of several sectors. However the wide spectrum of restaurants that I patronize, the majority of them I've seen had increases hovering in the the 20-25% range. Yes, I've also seen a few 40%+ increases too. When there is no change in quality for me or if the restaurant's offering isn't unique to them for me to justify the 40%+ increase (when other nearby restaurants can do without the same increase) I stop going to those restaurants, because to me it's just a cash grab. And you know what? It has nothing to do with affordability. They have the right to charge what they want. I have a right to stop going . I happened to dine at Makino several times in the past, so I was giving some historical prospective on their pricing. It appears to me nothing has changed at Makino based on what I saw in your video versus my last visit, so to me nothing justifies the additional 15%-20%+ on top of what other restaurants did to offset inflationary costs that affected everyone in the last 3 years. You defending their increase by saying you can eat your money's worth coupled with your initial reply to me on how I need to "raise [my] own food" as if every restaurant is jacking up their prices 40%+ in a few short year makes you sound like the restaurant's shill especially since I gave a couple of examples of well -known restaurants that didn't increase prices 40%+🤷. At any rate, thanks for the video. Saves me a trip to go back there.
I'm not the biggest fan of AYCE, but, Kogi is my go to place when I am in the mood, The Shit is one of the best things to eat in this valley. What I would really love is an Indonesian place, right now the closest i've found is the Banana Leaf Cafe, it's good, but I really don't want to have to do 16 hours of flying to get some Nasi Goreng and a Bintang Radler.
I have sat with the owner there talking about Todia which he owned in CA. Makino is the best in Vegas. Me and My Daughter eat there when ever we are in vegas. The creme brulee is to die for their but I think they only have it at dinner And stay away from Imperial sushi and seafood buffet that place is nasty. Bro you should have went there for dinner
I really liked it here. Great food, solid price. I do like Imperial also though, though I haven't been back since I made my video like 2 years ago. I will have to try it for dinner sometime. Thanks for watching!
Hi Shin😊 went to Makino in 2018/2019 and loved it during a Vegas visit. Moved to Vegas recently and been wanting to go back (will definitely do). What day and time did you go, because back then there was a line prior to opening. Thank you
This was the Saturday prior to Super Bowl weekend around noon. There was no line when I went but there was a hefty wait when I was leaving around 2. Thanks for watching!
That's a good question. I'm not sure when chow mein became the common name. Maybe with Panda Express? But even they have recently changed it to lo mein so maybe future generations it'll swing over to lo mein. We'll have to see lol. Thanks for watching Ashley!
@VegaswithShin I've lived in Syracuse for 40 years, and most of the Chinese places here still call it Lo Mein. Maybe it's a preference? Time for me to do my homework and investigate 😅 Love the content ! Thank you for taking the time to answer us fans 🥰

What's your go to all you can eat restaurant in Las Vegas?
So many choices. My usual go to place would be Master Kim's, Shabuya and the Palms buffet

Big sushi fan here also and it's a solid place here! Thanks for watching Jade. See you on Saturday!
Dude you did not try that shrimp tempura it is really good there. We've only ate lunch there one time we always eat dinner there
I had it in the shrimp tempura roll so I didn't think to try it on its own lol. I'm definitely interested in the dinner.
I don't like sushi but the dinner buffet there had enough non-sushi items that I thought it was worth it. Never had lunch there before.
Yes agreed, even those who don't like sushi can still get a lot of options to eat here. I think the lunch is a solid value. Thanks for watching!
Hello 👋🏽 Shin 😊
Hello Christine!
It looked so good but apparently didnt taste as good. Thanks! 😊
Some misses but for the most part, I enjoyed my lunch here. Thanks for watching!
Personally, I’m not a fan of AYCE, but this place sure looks like an amazing value.
I like my food made to order as much as the next person, but I've always loved buffets being the big boy I am. Especially when they have a lot of variety at a good value price point. Thanks for watching!
Just saw your 10k sub video, what is your last meal?
I'm hoping I won't have to think about it too much for a while lol. I'd like to be around a bit longer.
👍🤠
Thanks Vickie!
Aaaaaargh, ANOTHER restaurant to add to my list of "must try in Vegas". So far I'm up to 17😂. I guess I'll be extending my visit.
Yes! So many great places to try here in Las Vegas, the choices seem endless! Thanks for watching!
WOW a virtual SUSHI paradise!!!🍣🍣🍣
Yes it's definitely solid choices here. Thanks for watching!
Hopefully you survive the chocolate tower. I guess we will find out eventually lol
So far so good! I'm still around after filming lol! Thanks for watching!
@@VegaswithShinyay!!
I retired from buffets when I hit 40. Maybe I will do a breakfast one , once in a while. The food usually is just not fresh. But thanks for the vid.
I can understand that for sure. It just can't compare with made to order.
@@emailuser8668 sounds like most motels in California like Best Western, etc.
Yeah, given a choice between buffet sushi and AYCE places, I'd prefer to do an AYCE sushi spot as well for sushi. Thanks for watching!
Wish I went there instead of The Palms Champagne brunch I was really disappointed.
Oh? I like the Palms brunch. What went wrong?
@@VegaswithShin shrimp still frozen, prime rib tasted off, eggs Benedict hard and dry, bacon over cooked black, chiliques soggy bad taste, crabs cut in bad places meat stuck to shell 90% of the time, deserts were good liked the uba ice cream
@@JBSCHAFFNER OOF! That sounds rough! I'm surprised. They've usually done well for me.
Wow, I’m impressed for the price.
Very reasonable pricing for as much as they have on offer. Thanks for watching Lucia!
Looks really good. I could easily eat 29.95$ worth.
Absolutely a good value here. I ate way more than $30 worth of food. Thanks for watching!
Ohhh I'm not very well versed in Indonesian cuisine. I've got to get that on my list. Thanks for watching!
With so many different offerings there's gonna be some misses. Overall I think there's good value at this buffet.
Solid value here for sure and they have some good food here. I would recommend it. Thanks for watching!
I have sat with the owner there talking about Todia which he owned in CA. Makino is the best in Vegas. Me and My Daughter eat there when ever we are in vegas. The creme brulee is to die for their but I think they only have it at dinner
And stay away from Imperial sushi and seafood buffet that place is nasty.
👍
Thanks!
I hope you survive too 😂😻🤙🏻
Still here so far lol. Thanks for watching!
Sorry Shin, I always skip the desserts and sweets.
I used to be the same way prior to starting RUclips. Now I've become accustomed to having some sweets at the end of my meal lol. Thanks for watching!
Shin.... are you Japanese, Chinese, or Korean?
I am Korean American!
@@VegaswithShin You make the best content! Keep it up!
❤❤❤
Thank you!
For 30 bucks you can’t complain
Good value here for sure. Thanks for watching!
Why does everyone call every noodle dish chow mein ? Whatever happened to Lo mein ? 😂
@VegaswithShin chow mein is thin and crispy, and lo mein is thick and saucy ( I just Google it 🤣)
Konnichiwa, your Japanese American right?
Shin is Japanese, just like the character Crayon Shin-chan.
Ie ie, kankokujin desu! Demo nihongo wa chotto sha bemasu. Video wa mite kurete arigatogozaimasita!
30$ and no sashimi? Wow...😬
I think they more than make up for that with the variety and there's some good quality proteins on the line. Thanks for watching!

I'm of the mind that you should eat what you enjoy at a buffet. Just trying to focus on value only is one route to go but I personally just eat whatever tastes good to me at the time. Thanks for watching!
Hi shin love your vids, but this buffet looks horrible
I enjoyed myself for the most part and the price is right. But it's not for everyone, like all restaurants. Appreciate you! Thanks for watching!
Seafood!!! Thanks for watching!
