I remember her singing this song the second time I saw them : coming to the mic all nervous, still holding her drum sticks in her hand - and actually closing her eyes everytime she would sing "Close your eyes and hold your terror close". Adorable ! Such a beautiful little song.
If anyone's wondering who sang the album version of this song, it was apparently a friend of the band named Robin Pridy. She's not the one who sings it when they play live. She's also one of the singers on their song "I Never Needed It Now So Much" and also solo sings their song "Did You Feel It Too?". That's all I know.
Wow... what a wonderful live version of this song. It sounds so intimate on its own on the album, I've sung it so many times, but it's so moving to actually see her get up the nerve to do it in front of a crowd like that, good for her!
The song is written about the man who is learning to be comfortable with his role in the future as king of kings on earth and God's messenger to the whole world too. His 'terror' who he should hold close is actually God. As with many cool songs, God gives the tune and lyrics to bands, and they just happen to be bands His chosen man likes and has seen live, as is the case here.
Love this tune and her singing of it. For the longest time I had this song stuck in my head and had no idea what it was called or who sung it. Glad to find it again.
'you're right strangers are easy to like' and ' learning to be you is what hurts most'. Profound lyrics. I have met this lovely lady (and the rest of the band) at an after-show party. They were very cool.
I think she wasn't meant to be a great singer but its just the honesty of her voice along with the simple piano and nothing else. And it was cute when she said 'I wish you could see this sight' Good none the less.
It reminded me of the Velvet Underground. Maureen Tucker kind of sounded like that when she sang. This is one of my new favorite bands. "Titanic Vandalism" is awesome!
She was already breathing heavily before she started singing so yea, it would be a tiny bit off key. If you have been to any concerts you would realize that most of them sing off key a handful of times. Except for lip sync "artists". I thought she gave a wonderful performance. =]
Yeah, this *is* kind of off-key, but I like the song in spite of it, and maybe because of it. It's off-key, and she's light-years off from being a great vocalist or anything, but it doesn't need to be. It's a sweet, simple song, that makes flaws work for it.
I love the GO Team, but the Velvet Underground with Moe Tucker on vocals should be given a credit on the cd. Not really. But this song seems inspired by the song "After Hours" by VU.

This clip eats my heart alive. I love it. Its cute, quiet and simple...perfect. Everything about this makes me love life.

SHe's a Priddy good singer, eh
The fact this isn't sung perfectly makes it so damn perfect 👌

Agreed. It's actually "Yearning to be you is what hurts the most", which I think is even better.
Sorry dude, I asked the guy who wrote the lyric via Twitter as I wasn't sure (different versions online) and he confirmed it's 'learning'.
strangers are easy to hate more like.
@@inoxide5454 I like lots of strangers, hatred is best avoided altogether, except for hating evil doers.
I love this song. It’s perfect ❤
Is she holding on to her drumsticks through the whole song? ADORABLE.
Chi is my hero
Such a moving performance. This song just has something so touching about it.

Enchanting song...
Nice!
The way she hits her cymbal at the end is adorable
Love this
I think her voice is absolutely perfect for the song. It may sound shit if she tried to sing some classical song, but for this it is beautiful.
HAHAHA I LOVE IT
