I have a few points
A ) Hats off to the absolute side character genius Arthur Pym and his unquestionable loyalty to Usher's and his absolute expertise in his work, his strength to even stand upto Verna
B) The character shift between Madaline and Roderick. Though it's shown that Madaline is more of a hardline/practical one of the twins but if you see when devil made the deal even Madaline hesitated for a while ...but Rodrick excepted in less than a minute. Even later on it stays with Madaline the fear...so much so that she denied herself the pleasure of having own child but Roderick tuned out to be the true selfish one where in he keeps on having a child without thinking what if....the deal comes true.
C) Rodrick wanted Victorine to work on heart not for himself but because he knew deal was children would start dying right before the death of twins. If his death could be stopped somehow it would stop the menace
At least Lenore's death was not that painful.

I want to share an information: Camile Espanaya (kate siegel) is Mike Flanagan's wife. And she work in many masterpiece of his husband, like. The haunting of hill house, Bly Manor , Hypnotic, Midnight Mass and this one. Isn't sounds great? 😮

Love your videos, but do not agree with your conclusion about Madeline.
She was power hungry, man-hater, cold af person, but Roderick was even worse.
When they make that deal, Madeline actually hesitates and she was visibly uncomfortable knowing that the children also have to suffer. That's why she seems like a responsible one who was compassionate enough to never to have children ever so that no one would suffer because of the choices she made.
On the other hand, Roderick easily jumped the wagon despite having two children who he loved. He didn't even stop there, but goes on popping children of every ethnicity.
Madeline's overall thinking was men make mess and women have to clean it. That's why she tried to create a loophole by helping Roderick with those pills, so that Lenore and eventually ushers may get a chance to survive the deal.
