    She's so humble and have great understanding of design. I have seen some egocentric design leaders at Expedia who keep marketing themselves. Great presentation , on how user centered design is important.

    It's 2023 and it's time for people to acknowledge that the design as Facebook/meta has always been very average, filled with biases. They may have not been as bad as Twitter (who refused to set up a BLOCK USER button for years, enabling stalkers to harass women without problems) but the only thing they had was to be the first and that they made a lot of money. They are the vanilla of modern product design. And as in many big tech companies, the impact of their upper design managers is actually very limited. Not everyone can be a Jony Ive.

    07:54 What people problem are we trying to solve?

    • @billyfranciscogonzalesgarc8702
      @billyfranciscogonzalesgarc8702 3 года назад +3

      11:53 First example of problem statement- "I want to talk about an interest with other people who are interested, but I don´t know where to find these people"
      13:13 Second example of problem statement - "Not everything I see in News Feed is likeable - I want more ways to easily express how I'm really feeling about something"
      14:04 Third Example of problem statement - "People has the desire to share spontaneously and authentically"

      14:40 How do we know this is a real problem?

    • @billyfranciscogonzalesgarc8702
      @billyfranciscogonzalesgarc8702 3 года назад +1

      15:51 Way to solve the first problem: Litle unit called "groups you should join"
      20:20 Way to solve the second problem: the reaction button
      23:05 way to solve the third problem: Facebool live product or function

      26:57 How will we know if we've solved this problem?
      28:54 we want to make sure we set measurable goals: engaging, interacting with others, sharing content, etc
      30:37 more people using the reations that the previous tools (emojis, coments, etc), every reaction did get a fair amount of usage across different markets.
      33:58 More people are broadcasting using the fb live product, people are broadcasting again and again, time spent watching live videos

      This slide would fit perfectly into the 101 product design class at Uni. Nothing unique in this talk, even at the time of its release.

    I wonder what FB's products would look like if we added one more question here to the core design process: "What could go wrong if we solved this problem and is it worth it?"
    With such great power that 20-something designers and engineers have at FB the earlier you can instill broader responsibility for the products you create the better. I love this framework for product design but too often, especially in the valley, is it believed that solving the problem validates the steps taken or oversights made to get there.

    Most of facebooks features are just a toolbar and a webview. And the design really sucks. Instagram looks way better than the facebook app.

      It's more about user experience I think. UX of facebook is maybe one reason why users stuck to it, it's my personnal opinion

    • @eswag153

      @@JalalBricha The UX of Facebook is frightening. There are wayyyyy too many tools/choices. Absolute mess. Facebook works because they add features for all different people. Facebook is useless to me besides Marketplace and ads. Other features might fit the needs of other people.

    let's keep in mind her design process is what led society today to disintegrate and become polarized.

    So far just Asian and White... not much diversity in personalities. Would be nice to hear of leaders that were not in wealthy families.
