I'm moving from Hawaii to Colorado in a few weeks and while I don't think it will be an issue coming into March to get back at the range, I know fall/winter 2021 will be a long off season and would look into something like this and keep super budget friendly. I'm going to be putting a home gym in a 3rd car garage and after the gym is finished I'll have about 11' long x 8 wide space left in the garage and think I can make something work in there. The issue I have is that I would try to run the sims just off a laptop tablet to start so I can hopefully not need a projector but the projector would have to go next to the garage door opener motor so I would have to do some measurements. My garage ceiling height though is 11'.
This is something i have been thinking about for 3 years ,I think what you have done is you have raised the bar,you did a fantastic job, im in montreal as well can i give you a call
Super cool setup, thank you for sharing this. All of the items that you listed and where you bought them was so helpful. Awesome setup. I am getting ready to start building mine and will use alot of information from this. Thanks again
Nice set up. I had the true strike and sky trak as well. We wore a rut into the true strike since the sky trak dot requires ball position in same spot each shot. Be sure to move it if ya can.
Thanks again for a superb video. Thinking of using plywood covered with foam for the 'roof'. What thiickness do you think would suffice to prevent a wedge shot from breaking it?
I love the curtain idea to make the garage still be a garage. A quick question though, it doesn't look like there's a connection between the curtains and the screen. Has a ball ever been hit in to that crack? Does it fly through? Have you had to adjust to protect that spot at all? Thanks for the video!
If you hit a ball in a corner like that then either you are a beginner or have a beginner hitting. From 8' away your ball shouldn't be more than 2' left or right of center so thats a 4 foot hitting area with few margin error either side. If you are that bad of a hitter to miss 4-5' left or right of center then you need to secure the corners and I would be afraid to have you hit on a at home simulator

Nice Job!! great ideas for my next build, at the moment I am using heavy black tarps (From transport truck trailer) that I cut up to for the tunnel, Now looking at this you are the only one using it I'm assuming as you have no options for a lefty??? Or am I missing something in your design that lefty option might be there? Looks very clean and sleek.
Great stuff - appreciate all of the detail! Going to be doing a similar DIY screen setup. Just have a question about the bottom 1/2in conduit. Did you cut it and only glue the pieces to each bottom corner, or run the full 10ft? If cut, about how long was each piece? Anything you would do differently with that after a bit more use?
What I did is run the entire 10 feet section inside the sleeve I had made. However if I had to redo it, what I would do is have the sleeve shut at one end, cut off 2" of the pipe, insert the pipe in the sleeve and clamp shut the other end. This way the pipe wouldn't be able to move inside the sleeve.
Great instructional video! I was busy writing notes. Any suggestions with how to deal with left handers who may want to play with you? I would think it would be a pain to keep moving the Skytraker from side to side and ensure it is calibrated.
Hey there. I love the setup. The only thing I ask is that I am looking to get the Neewer roller as well. How is it holding up, AND how does the roller stay in place if you keep hitting it? Does it roll down? Will the weight of the conduit force the roller to keep coming down? that's my only concern.
I would say it's passable... The roller mechanism itself is actually fine, and it does have a lock to stop it from rolling down. The issue I have is the cheap plastic chain that comes with it. Just wish they had a metal chain I could use instead
@@hazmatsystems1 Hi, I bought the same neewer system but in my case the lock is not strong enough to prevent the heavy screen rolling down. What would you do to stop it rolling down?
@@carlospez you need to lock the chain as well. I just put a screw on the wall and hang the chain to it. Also, I changed the chain for a metal chain from manfrotto, much better

I'm going to modify my set up to use the roller now as you have. I currently have my screen bungee corded to a frame to keep the screen fairly taught. There are tons of options for projectors... any complaints with the one you have or any other suggestions? I have a 9 1/2' garage, same screen as yours. Looking for a projector now.
Things to look for in a projector: RESOLUTION: First forget about the aspect ratio, with Windows you can adjust the resolution to fit any projector to any screen. Ideally you want a projector that can do a minimum of 1920x1080p resolution. The higher the resolution, the sharper the image. LIGHT OUTPUT: Forget about the number of lux, that's all crap. What you want is to look at the number of ANSI lumens. The more lumens the projector outputs, the brighter the image, and that's important in a simulator because there will be ambient light. The brighter the room, the more lumens you need to compensate. I would recommend at least 3000 lumens for a simulator. THROW RATIO: Depending on your screen size and room size, you may need a short throw ratio, meaning you will be able to setup your projector closer. Use the projector calculator found here to make sure the projector can fill the HEIGHT of your screen (you can then adjust the width in Windows): www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator-pro.cfm 2 very popular projectors for simulators are the Optoma GT1080HDR and GT1090HDR, both are short throw. If you don't need short throw and are looking for a 4k image, check out the PX747-4K from viewsonic (that's what I have) SHADOW: If you go with a standard throw projector, you need to make sure you don't get a shadow. To make sure you don't, first figure out where the projector would be installed using the calculator. Then have someone stand on a step ladder with their cell phone flashlight where the projector would be, while you stand where you would hit the ball. @@hazmatsystems1 Good idea, thanks.
Can you choose the course you play?
There are 170,000 courses, so I would say yes
I'm from South Africa, wondering if this is an opportunity for a small business
Out in Asia where real estate is pretty expensive, there are huge chains of "screen golf" franchises. Rent out a basement of an office building, fit out 5-10 of these rooms, provide refreshments and rent them out by the hour... big business!
Hazmat Systems, you did a wonderful job on this, by the way!
Just curious if the 9k cost includes the computer to run the software?
Yep, absolutely everything, including the license for tgc 2019
Thanks. Think we are ever going to get out this curfew crap here?
@@doubleblack3329 I have a 6 year old, so curfew or not, I'm home at 8 anyways🤣🤣
What is the height of your garage and sim? I have about 9 1/2 ft and I’m not sure it’s enough
9.5 feet is tall enough, no problem. Mine is 10 feet tall, I'm 6'3" and I have an upright swing, and not a problem.
@@hazmatsystems1 Is the playable height in the sim 10ft? Honestly I'd be fine not hitting driver just in case but I'd definitely want to be able to hit woods and long irons. I'm 6'2'' with a Mathew Wolff type swing so very steep and upright back swing.
@@jaredmeyer8671 no my screen height is 8'6". Easiest way to know if you'll be ok is to swing your driver in that room...
what was total cost of your build?
Around 9k Canadian
whhat gpu are you suing for the simulator software on your pc
