Asking statues for alms to get into the practice of being rejected. I love that. Diogenes is my personal favorite philosopher, but out of respect for him I will never laud him because, I feel, that would only insult him. Every time I see a homeless person; I can't help but wonder if they aren't a modern version of Diogenes. That's my hope anyway.

He somewhat reminds of of that "dirtiest man in the world" in Iran who had just recently passed away. I was reading an article and I could not help but see him as the modern Diogenes, though without the philosophy.

@@LetsTalkPhilosophy we need a non Christian perspective of the philosophy tho. All the ones I’ve found seem to be made by Christians and thus there’s bias and if I’m being honest, a lack of true understanding

As skeptical as many philosophers were, not many were willing to openly mock societal decorum as Diogenes did
One of a kind he is.
He truly was a dog. Dog is man's best friend. Therefore Diogenes is our best boi.
I think he's fake. He didn't exist.

@@jasondean88888 you just Diogenes-ed that person
Plato: Sócrates goes mystical
Aristotle: Socrates goes rational
Diogenes: Socrates goes mental
Marcus Aurelius: Socrates goes Giga chad.
You can be a cool philosopher but are you Diogenes cool?
Sure, when Diogenes rubs one out in public hes a considered a great philosopher but when i do it, I get arrested and banned for life from Pizza Hut.
Wtf!? This is probably the BEST Diogenes video out there in RUclips, thanks

Yes, stumbled across this channel, definitely liked and subscribed.
"the man that had everything and the man that had nothing" - very poignant and fitting. Very Nietzschean thing to say. ;-) Great video.
yes nietzsche was a fan of the cynic school of philosophy ☻
He wasnt mad! His head is just made different than yours!
Diogenes just didn't give a flyin' f@$%.
Diogenes would have a much harder time finding a man nowadays. Most people are backdrop people.
Including you ?

What in Zeus' name is that image/picture @5:36
are you speaking of the man in the picture or the group of images as a whole? If the man I intended it to be a depiction of a return to nature.

Nah.
If you want, I can give a generous interpritation of early "Christian philosophy" summed up in 4 words.
Don't be a dick.
What more do you need?
how is a man self sufficient if his existence relies on the charity and hard work of others?
A fair question, one wonders if he would survive without the aid of admirers. I am sure he would, like a dog, find something to keep him going.
