This song is so powerful. I still remember when i first heard it and immediately put it on my phone, next day skipped school and went to the river, and just laid there, with this song on repeat. It's been 14 years since, and i still treasure that memory a lot.
Oh wow, how cool! It sounds like a music box, yet at the same time its definitely Hidden Palace Beta! n.n I remember when I was just a little girl and I found the Hidden Palace Beta music in the sound test. I loved it so much I actually recorded it onto an audio cassette tape. XD Back then I was too young to understand the concept of deleted/dropped zones/levels though. To me it was like a 'bonus track'.
+ESE150 It fit the stage better. Plus its never been confirmed that it even was for HPZ, it very well could have been an "unused song" for all we know! don't you find it a little suspicious that its the only song in the whole soundtrack to have an ending that doesn't loop? Kinda suggests it was to be used for a cutscene instead. On that note, yes I agree, this song is awesome, truly something unique. Really like the SbtS remix of it too! XD (sorry if you mind 1 year replies lol)
@@Alienrun Yeah, there's no confirmation that the unused song was for Hidden Palace. I think it was probably for something else as well. In the Simon Wai prototype, Hidden Palace uses (an alternate mix of) the Mystic Cave 2-player theme. (Well, here's a 3 year late reply...)
PRRRRRRROMOTION?!?! WHAT FOR?! Seriously though, it's a fantastic rendition of my favourite Lost Sonic 2 Zone. I mean, It was great that they did a song from a Zone cut from the game! = D
@TheBionicBastard When I think about it, given what 'technology' we had plus child-like creative problem solving, I'm going to assume quite a few people probably did this. lol.
It was originally intended to be in Sonic 2. It was only in the Beta, and was scrapped. It was then used for S3&K. But with the S2 remaster for mobile and Steam it was used again as an easter egg, wich you had to fall from a bottomless pit in Mystic Cave zone, that was originally a pit with spikes. They used the 2player version of Mystic Cave for the music instead of the original scrapped music.
When I had found this about a year ago it had moved me to tears! Nice pick man... Brings back fond memories of my youth puzzling over the level and song that time and Sega seemed to have forgotten. Have you found forbidden memories of a forgotten dream?
So much cool music, i lov the beat!!! but, i noticed that this is the music that comes just right before confronting mecha sonic, instead of this cave. why does i never saw this level before?
i dont think classic's coming back, but they shouldve done better for sonic's 21st.instead, on sonic's 25th, they should make something like epic mickey, where sonic meets his beta rabbit self, and has to go through all the scrapped zones to stop eggman from taking over the place.(someone should make a fan game of this and sonic cd 2)
hum. well, this one I know. But still how does this level became a playable level like the pic of the movie then? Does this have anything to do with the "Edited" versions of sonic?
not sure, but we do have S4:episode 2, which is known as a sequel to Sonic Cd, since the game and the last zone was a follow up to sonic cd. But the next game might have another monster in it, cause it mostly has a monster as the final boss
Sonic Smash Brothers 😭

lo escuchaba a los 15 años, lo escucho a mis 31 años y me sigue volviendo loco
It was a crime how the iOS Sonic 2 port excluded the amazing HPZ theme, using the 2p mode MCZ theme instead -_-

In that first minute, there's a tiny bit of off-key music, you almost can think it would turn into some kind of horror song.
the beginning would be the kind of song that would be used in a flashback scene a game that showed sonic's past.
Amazing song.
Sonic smash bros? Anyone?
SebastianGL Yep. I got here because of that game.
yep
Yeah
Zawell the Wanderer me too. I remember when I was 5 years old and how I would play the game after I got home from school

This is the beta version of Hidden Palace Zone. Just in case someone is wondering.
Jet Hammer Dedede What do you mean with beta?

It might just be me but it sounds like after 2 mins that a bit of the Sonic 3 credits kicks in. Either way, this song is great, thank you :)
Love.

hidden palace zone was never used in this game but it was later remade in sonic and knuckles as a 1 act zone.
