I was in the 200 level seats at the Vet the first night Dick Allen returned to the Phillies in 1975. It was so exciting as a 14 year old kid seeing this legend. He was renowned for his massive tape-measure shots at Connie Mack. It felt like, and in fact was, the beginning of great things for the Phillies. So great to see Dick Allen in the HOF.
As a kid growing up in Philly in the 60's, I feel fortunate to have seen Dick Allen play, in person, at Connie Mack Stadium and regularly on TV. A true HOFer. I only wish he had lived to see this day.
Philly fans are really rough sometimes. They booed Dick Allen out of town and now everyone is happy he’s in HOF. It’s a shame fans never appreciated him while he was here.
For better or worse, as a kid in the 60’s watching the Phillies on TV or listening on radio, I was never aware of the racism Allen was subjected to. He was just the greatest Phillies star ever.
I was at the game with the Safety Patrol when Dick Allen hit a homerun over the Cocoa Cola Sign in Left Field at Connie Mack Stadium I think it was over 600 feet
We already have the work put in. We have 5 stars in the minor leagues ready to rock. We have atleast 300 mil we can spend on Free Agents and we also have trade bait... lol so whats up?
@ they need to actually sign players and trade players. They can have all of the flexibility in the world financially and farm system wise but if they don’t utilize any of it (like they haven’t the past couple offseasons/trade deadlines) then it doesn’t mean too much
Allsn in the HOF is another reason Cooperstown is worthless.. undeserved.. 350HR is not HOF caliber by any measure but because of wokeness or other non-baseball factors, the committee was determined to get him in somehow

I remember reading the ovation for Dick’s first time up was several minutes long.

This is long overdue
Allen, Callison, Bunning... Good times.
10hrs now, why so few comments? BTW, our team, the Phills, chase.too much.
Soto or not. The Mets are still going to Met. It's what they do.
765 million is actual insanity, the Phils definitely have some work to do

Phinally dick Allen gets in. Congrats
Most teams are now non-competitive - just the minor leagues for the rich teams....not good in the long run.
Soto will bust
