PCR test and antigen test update and who needs to get tested before entering South Korea. I’m coming oct 11-22 with 4 other family members. It will be my first trip back to Korea since I left in 1965 as a toddler. I’m so excited and a bit nervous as well.
I am Korean American. My mother, who was Korean, passed away in 2019. I’m sad that I was not able to bring her back to Korea before her passing.

I'm so glad my videos have been helpful for you before your big journey! I'm sure you feel quite the crockpot of emotions but I hope "regret" isn't overpowering any of the other positive emotions! It's such a privilege to be able to travel but life is already hard enough... we don't need to worry about that which we can't change. Everything happens for a reason, I'm a firm believer of that. There's a reason why you didn't have the opportunity to go sooner and there's a reason why you're able to go now (even if it feels a little late).
Plus, your mother will with you as she looks down on you enjoying her home country. I hope you have a wonderful trip together~ Many blessings and much love ❤️✨
The entire country drunk the Kool aid and are walking around in ma sks. Indoor ma sk mandates still in place. All children go to school in ma sks. People ride bicycles in ma sks. People sit in cubicles in ma sks. It is absolutely ridiculous and mental torture for us westerners that live here. Korea is the only country on Earth other than Communist China still playing ma sk theater.

@@MeganOsten Sorry I meant the subway. I'll mostly be in Myeongdong and hongdae so I would be taking the subway from one of the stations either in Myeongdong or Hongdae to the banpo bridge for the light show.

Hi what if i tested positve once i get the test upon arrival at korea and you got inly 5 days stay. Do they quarantine me if i tested positive? If thats the case does it mean that i just spend my whole vacation inside the quarantine facility and waste my vacation days?

I kinda wish it was the opposite. PCR required before but not after. Otherwise you can test positive by surprise in Korea and lose your vacation (and your $) to quarantine, no?
Very good point… I guess it would be best to still get tested before flying just to be safe! However, many people get covid on the flight… so to me getting tested RIGHT after you land it kind of meaningless because you won’t be showing symptoms that quickly… so many things don’t make sense to me 🥹
@@MeganOsten I think the Covid variants are becoming increasingly less debilitating hence the test upon arrival. That said, what happens if you test positive? Quarantine- for how long? Most just get sick for a day or two.

It’s you’re coming on a short-term visa you will have to pay 80,000 in the airport upon arrival. Sadly it’s the only option for tourists…. 😞

If you’re coming on a short-term visa you will have to pay 80,000 won in the airport once you arrive

Question: been trying to get the K-ETA process going but we been having errors on the payment submitted part… we just keep getting an error message and we emailed the website, attempted messaging them, all fails. What do we do? Any suggestions? Advance Thanks 🙏
What method are you using to try to pay? Try a different one? Make sure the name on the payment matches the name on the visa itself maybe? Also, make sure your name is entered the same as your passport or the same as it is on the card. Also, try using a different browser?

Yes it’s fine. You have 24 hours to take the test and you can do it at any facility

I'm kind of nervous about the test in Korea. I'm scared of it hurting. We get it all the time here but I heard it is administered rough there. Anyone have any tips to make me less scared ;^;
It’ll be uncomfortable but you’re strong and you got this~ Lately, with so many people coming into the city, the test is very fast as well! I usually quickly hold my breath and I think it helps a bit but no science behind my feelings 😅 it’ll be okay!!

Interesting… they got denied for which visa? Tourists still need a K-ETA (which is a visa you need to apply/pay a little bit of money for)
Does this update your post from five months ago where you said the pcr tests were free to foreigners at those popup tent testing sites? (You even provided a link to a map that had live updated wait times. Is that not valid anymore?)
Im getting mixed advice from people..some say they went to the tents (as a foreigner) and no one asked them if they were staying here on a short term or long term visa, so they got the test done for free. And then some say, those tents are not even open to foreigners to get tested. Im arriving there in two days so this is my NO. 1 cause of concern. Please help!

- how much time to wait for results and what can I do until results are out
- I know they need a phone number where to send you the results, what do I do if don’t have a sim or I just bought a sim with internet only?

Yes right we came here on 5 September with RT-PCR but they didn't ask for this 😭, and being long term visa holder we take RT-PCR free within 24 hours of arrival 🤣😄

Yea! I'm going in a couple of weeks and this is great news. Can I ask an off-topic question? I know the KAL limousine bus drastically reduced their schedule during covid. Now that travel is coming back to Seoul in a big way, when I check the bus schedule online its showing only 3x for the entire day when before it was every 20 minutes to the city hall area. Thinking maybe its not been updated . Have you heard/seen anything about this? Many thanks for all the good info you provide!

How much is the PCR test at Incheon Airport? How would they check that you have it completed within 24 hours of landing?
80,000 Korean won - and yes there is a part of it that is open 24/7
They probably check by your passport number and flight number (which they ask for when you register for a q-code)
