For years I have wanted a suitable place to BBQ in the dead of Canadian winters but I am a wimp not willing to shovel my way out to my gas grill in -20 degree weather. Living in a condo with bylaws prohibiting the types of structures that can be erected in the outdoor patio area, this left me with my attached garage as the only option for sheltered winter cooking.
The problem is gas fired and charcoal grills can produce carbon monoxide and a lot of smoke before even considering that both have open flames. Using either BBQ fuel source in an attached garage can be dangerous and besides, my condo bylaws prohibit this type of grilling.
This left me with just one option in using an outdoor electric grill with the element covered. Not quite an indoor grill but a good and safe compromise.

I love cooking on the grill mat. It seems that all the heat does the cooking. Were cooking in something steel or aluminum will deflect some heat and take longer.

I am just having my first experiences with grill mats and will be putting up a video about them soon. Thanks for watching.
