when I browse through the sounds in ableton the preview plays one note, I want the preview to play a midi clip without having to drag each sound to the track, that's ridiculous... in garageband I could just loop a bar of my midi track and use the arrows to go over all sounds
Good Video. I don’t like the AL Browser though, I find it very confusing and there’s way too much AL-specific things to keep in mind and remember. Why don’t they just open up the browser and let me add Folders and Files where I want to? Why not enable Folders in the colored Categories and let me move stuff into it (as shortcuts)? I‘d also line to rename the Folders and names of the plugins. Its a realy pain in the a** to have all plugins named differently, some after the manufacturer, some after the plugin name and some even after the coding company. Why not simply allow us to rename the folders and sort them the way we want to, for example as reverbs, delays, compressors and so on. Would be much easier to find. The color code is nice but I need more colors and it would be great to add Tags
Awesome man. Tell me, what about 3rd party plugins..is there a way to categorize them into different folders using "places"? I mean like a shortcut. Now everything is organized by its installation folder and it's a huge mess..cant find anything! Thanks
It'll actually scan for shortcuts under Categories->Plugins, so you can actually redirect Abletons scanning to an empty folder you make wherever you want and then fill that folder with shortcuts to plugin files all over your PC. Then drop those shortcuts into subfolders in that custom folder to organize them. This not only means you can reorganize any time you want without having to worry about breaking anything, but you can also have one vst in multiple folders by just making multiple shortcuts. ie C:\VST\VST64\By Type\Synth\FM8 and C:\VST\VST64\By Maker\Native Instruments\FM8. Also lets you have separate Reverb and Delay folders without worrying about which folder those plugins that are both go lol
