Thank you very much indeed. Without your recording, I wouldn't be able to do it alone. And I also saved some money, learned something, and didn’t have to go to a mechanic.
Good video. Did this job the other day. Nightmare to get the cable out of the caliper! Looking at your video it seemed like you replaced the old cable with a 2nd hand used cable. Rather bizarre.
You might have wanted to mention to place the thin disk-shaped rubber collar (not the grommet) such that the cable won't rub against the longitudinal suspension arm near where the arm is connected to the frame.I forgot this, and the arm almost ate through the cable in a year.
Great explanation and details! Shouldn’t you have tried to turn the wheel in the same direction forward when checking the E-Brake was engaged or does it matter? Thanks
Good question. You actually want to check to make sure you don't have wheel movement in both directions when the ebrake is pulled up/locked. For example, if I back out of my garage and stop on my driveway, my car will want to roll backwards since my driveway is rather steep. If I park on the road where it has a downgrade, the car will want to roll forward. Either way it's always best to make sure your ebrake is functioning properly so your beloved vehicle doesn't roll away!
I did this, but my new cable was really thight. I have tried adjusting it but only got it to the point where the pads are barely gripping the disc when handbrake is down. Not a huge issue, but heat builds up on longer trips. Got any tips?
That is odd. I would double check the routing at the console that goes to the ebrake lever mechanism. My used line I pulled from a base model 9-3 and put on my Aero 9-3 so there shouldn't be any length differences. I'm wondering if maybe something isn't fully seated.
@@WeakestofWeeks Will have to check it out this weekend then. Do you know the length it is supposed to be by any chance? I only know the length of the one i bought :D
@@xXFuZeSnipeZzXx Hey, did you figure it out, cause mine is way to tight and I have loosened it all the way? For reference, I bought handbreak wires from Bosh that is 1932mm
the part for both brake lines in the description is incorrect, i got the same part from rockauto and it's for a '99 saab 9-5. i tried to install it and was completely unable, unless i'm missing something that the wrong part.
Yeah not sure what happened there with the link. I know a lot of the 9-3 cables are on back order. I updated the link which includes the part number but not sure who still has availability of new ones.
@@WeakestofWeeks I think the problem is with the way websites categorize the lines themselves, not your error, cause rockauto categorized that part under 9-3 arc as well. Thanks for updating it so some poor fool doesn't do the same as I did

Thats a hell of a job it is.

Thanks for a great video, detailed and very helpfull, even down to the hidden cable tie.
Well done buddy 👍
Great explanation. Nice video. Thank you!
How do I connect end of the cable to a brake caliper?
It's too short/very tight?
With difficulty! I did mine the other day. It was tight!!

Is it the same on the other side of the car?
Yep it's the same for both sides
@@WeakestofWeeks so it is two cables?! 😨
I didn't know that was a coin holder, I know feel like I have a new car 😂
Excellent video
Any idea what part number is for the spring?
