- The Band doing a Ray Charles number in 1986 about a month before Richards death, with Rick doing lead and Levon and Richard joining in on the chorus. This is amazing and I never heard it before but its one of the last times all 3 of there amazing voices joined together, And they sounded great! In memory of all of them Richard/Rick/Levon the 3 voices of The Band!
most bands arent as good live as they are in the studio. The Band is the opppsite. Ever better live! RIP Levon, Rick, and Richard
oh god ... everytime i see a song of the band that i do not know, i always hesitate before clicking on it, because i know i'm gonna probably listen to it 50 time / day for a week or two .... Such an amazing piece of music " i got a dream burnin inside, no one else around, just you and i " with the 3 voice at same time put me tears .... THANKS SO MUCH
Even if this has bad sound quality you can still feel the emotions. That's how good these guys were at what they did.
I really wish they were here with me Tonite. Love and miss them so. Just makes me wanna cry. Such beautiful guys.😢😘
I saw The Band in Finland 1996 or the remaining of it. Rick and Levon was there on stage and it was a beautiful day.
There will never be three singers in one person again.
The greatest group ever...
🥀🎶so glad The Band never sold out and went disco...
😇🎶😇🎶😇🎶Rockin' Heaven
So beautiful. Rick Danko sounded so sweet. Then the rest of them together just make you wish they could have made music forever.
Ah Marleen weren't they wonderful. Rick Danko's voice and his rendition of "When you awake" has pulled me out of many a depression, God bless him and all of them...
What a song...gave me chills. Miss Rick, Richard, and Levon's voices so very much. Listening to The Band now is bittersweet...
yeah, makes me weep for the love they gave us...
RIck Danko's sweet voice rising up...
Oh how we all wish they were still here again
This is just brilliant. Only discovered just how good Richard manuals voice is.
this is rick danko on vocals
Richard is my all time favorite male vocalist. Incredible. If you’re not moved after listening to the Woodstock version of Tears Of Rage, you have no soul.

Talking about the harmonies. Rick is fantastic.

And that Irish lullaby too
Jim Sullins- So many great artists knew this song was special.
i live in Woodstock and just stopped by Rick and Levon;s graves.........RIP......
i want to be there too
im near Herkimer ny id like to visit the graves ,,,where exactly are they?
Mark Ashley just off Rock City Road before the Park.
I want to visit Richard's. It's close to where I live and I might even leave a note.
Superb
Just makes me cry like a baby....
I got into the Band about 10 years ago, but this track is new to me. Sublime.
Kenneth Hall I wish I was you!
yes, you are right !
how can we forget those 3-voices.
Fabulous. Can't believe I'm first hearing this now.
If you haven't heard Acadian Driftwood, check it out. Canadian history with them at their best.
This should've been done in the studio.
Jim Weider’s guitar playing: beautiful and sublime.
It’s nice to be nice! Richard? How sweet. Beautiful.
Wonderful! Thank you❤
I just heard this recording this morning and I wrote the song ! Thank you so much. Wow, The Band did my song and I just found out today :) :) :)
Beautiful song, they did beautifully!
Good song, dude.
Jim Sullins i have so much to say to you that i'm speechless.... thank you
how beautiful is that!
The Band did your song? I'd be on top of the world! Good song.
RIP Richard
Thats just so sweet. Ricks voice is great here. So nice to hear all 3 of them.
❤ The Best Band Ever!
Just so wonderful, rest easy fair fellows.
its such a beautiful version. you'd think they wrote it.
i wish there was a studio recording of them playing this
Thank You So Much for posting this jewel...saw them many times, but not in 86 and I never heard them do his song...
It makes me wonder, if Mr. Manuel had lived, whether The Band might have put an album out in about '88 or '89, and what might have been on it…
Thank You for putting this up Brian, To my regret I never got to see the guys live, maybe some day in the blue sky, They were GIANTS in the best way, R.I.P .
Tom - I was lucky enough to be right next to the stage at Watkins Glen in 1973 + hear what amounted to 2 full live performances by the Band - the soundcheck on Friday and then the concert Saturday - IMO they blew away the Dead and the Allman Brothers that weekend.
Thanks, never heard that before either.
I'm gonna have to look up my Ray C. collection & find his version.
Jesus did Richard sound right again. Gutted that he died on an upswing, so many do.
Former Band Manager Joe Forno’s book paints a darker picture. Incredibly sad, because he’s my all time favorite male vocalist. But the end of his life was bleak and tormented. Back on booze and drugs, with a fragile marriage and poor self esteem.
He deserved so much better.
Top, top class!
A once in a century band. Wdyt?
strong
Good stuff
