Finally a double neck ukulele at a reasonable price! I've kinda stopped playing ukulele for an interesting reason: they don't have 6 strings, so they are harder to play, especially for the kind of music I like. However, I'd buy this ukulele just because I LOVE double neck instruments!
For your Double Neck Electric you can restring the 8 String Neck as an 8 String Electric Ukulele by simply using the top 4 pairs of Strings from a set of Ernie ball 12 String Slinky Strings & now it's an 8/4 Electric Uke.
That is an interesting instrument. I saw another review on this same model (I can't remember who's channel it was). I really like the idea and the styling. I think they could've located the switch better and it should be a proper 3-way (top/both/bottom). That said... it is really unique and cool. I love the fact that they included a fitted case.
@@CircuitsAndStrings 2005 VW Beetle Convertible, 1.8L Turbo GLS. I've noticed that when I go buy parts for this poor, neglected fixer upper, I am not surprised to find the parts in a higher tax bracket lol My current joke is that when I go buy parts for it, I just add an extra zero at the end. It's my current daily drive, so I have to keep it up and running, so the doubleneck has to wait :(
Sounds like a fun car. Sorry about the high prices of parts. 💸 My sister in law has a Beetle around that same age. I’ve helped her change the headlights a couple times. What a pain.
It has a lot of similarities and a few differences to the Ortega. It is less expensive than the Ortega. But they are both made in China, possibly even at the same factory.
In its arrival state, this is a simply awful instrument. The action and tone are dreadful and an intermediate player will find it almost unplayable. The nut adjustment is not a problem, the main issue is with the bridge and saddle design. Take a close look at it: the 12th fret action is about 9mm. To reduce this to 4-5mm, you need to lower the saddle by at least 4mm, which will mean the saddle dissapears into the bridge, as it is just about proud of the bridge by 2mm in its original form.i.e, there will be no saddle , and your 12th fret action will still be too high. Plus, that switch needs to be a slide as it just gets in the way.
D'addario makes Nyltech Strings for Each (8 String Tenor Nyltech, & 4 String Tenor Nyltech).
Whoa, this is RAD and those double necks you built look INCREDIBLE.
Thanks! 😊

Double necks are sweet. What is your favorite guitar double neck?
@@CircuitsAndStrings probably an EDS-1275 or an SG/telecaster double neck (I've seen pictures before but I'm not sure if they're real guitars).
@@CircuitsAndStrings but I really like any double neck guitar
Good thing it came with a case. Using a Felt pick helps especially with the 8 Strings.

Nice review. Saw a clip from this on Amazon too, thanks for that!
Great overview! Thanks!
Thanks, Steve. This thing is a lot of fun. 😄
Beautiful! 🤩
Thanks for watching! 😊

It’s a pretty cool instrument. I might eventually swap the switch to a low profile true 3-way, if I can find one.
Great demo and review. I like your style ! And you play really well. Very cool instruments that you made as well. I just subscribed :)
Thanks for watching. 😊
I subscribed to you too.
@@CircuitsAndStrings thanks so much!
It has a 3 way switch
The built in tuner makes tuning easier. Big plus.
Is the middle position of the switch not both necks? That's a pretty weird design choice honestly
I assumed that too. But the middle position doesn’t select either one. I might swap it for a 3-way switch sometime.
The case has neck holders to keep it in place
This case does not have straps to keep the neck in place.
@@CircuitsAndStrings There is one that does
It's a copy of an Ortega Double Neck 8/4 Ukulele.
Hi. How can we change the strings in this ukelele please ? Thanks for this great video.
The strings are inserted through the bridge and soundboard, then the ends are tied in knots.
How do we change the strings?
You feed the strings through the top of the bridge, then tie a bead on the end to prevent it from pulling through.
Nice demo! How much do they run?
As of January 2021, they are on amazon for $160. But I do not know if that is just an introductory price.
@@CircuitsAndStrings Cool! I searched earlier and saw one as low as $110 :) Damn, if only I wasn't supporting my VW Beetle lol
Nice. Is it a vintage Beetle, or a newer one?

Isn't that a cheap Chinese rip-off of the Ortega Hydra?

@@CircuitsAndStrings I didn't know the Ortega was made in China, thanks for the info. Still, I do feel this is a rip-off nonetheless.

I didn’t have high action on mine, but the switch location can be a problem.
I wonder if they will change it a few things in the next version.
