I have been making my infamous Elastic (Scrunchie) Dog Bandanas for my handmade shop, Little Shop Joy since 2019! My customers have been asking for years how to create my best selling no tie elastic bandanas!
It’s soo simple to make! You will fall in love with how easy they are to use! Just slide it over your fur baby’s head and that’s it! It stays in place and requires no tying! Great for adventurous pups who tend to lose their Bandanas and perfect for those who don’t like that knot from a traditional one!

Help 💓 I purchased your patterns. I just cut out and made the XL scrunchie, however, the scrunchie piece ... the side of it where you insert into the bandana piece is quite a bit smaller... wondering where I went wrong? Thank you.
Hey! Thank you so much for your purchase! You did not do anything wrong! The scrunchie piece are not as wide on the larger bandanas mainly because this is pattern is universal! I was using it to also make over the collar bandanas along with tie on bandanas. 🤭 You can make the scrunchie piece bigger by adding a couple of inches to the width!

How much fabric do you typically purchase and how many bandanas does it make?
It depends! If I’m creating for a pop up event, I usually purchase 3-5 yards per print/design and that will yield a few in each size! When I initially started Little Shop Joy, I was creating them per order so I would only buy a yard or two at a time because I was sooo afraid that I would have lots leftover! 🥲

I absolutley love these but all of a sudden i seem to not be putting th pattern on the fabric correctly with the med, large and xl ...i have now wasted to patterns because they cut wrong...can you please help
Oh no! That has happened to me a few times!😮💨😫 What usually helps me is making sure that my fabric is lined up and I’ll check like 2-3 times to make sure all pieces are lined up and stacked on top of each other neatly before I cut! Have you tried to pin the pattern down to the fabric? I know that will prevent the pattern from wiggling when cutting! It’s crazy cos the slightest movement will throw the entire piece off that you are cutting! 😩 I’ll create a short video to show you exactly what I’m talking about!

Hpw do you cut with your rotary cutter and keep the ruler straight? When I try I can't keep the ruler in place! You make it look so easy. Thanks!
Hey! Thank you so much for watching! I have a ruler with a 'lip' edge. The lip edge allows it to 'rest' evenly on your cutting mat so you can cut in straight lines without it moving all over the place! Hey! Thank you and thank you so much for your purchase! I know I answered your question on Etsy but I will answer here too in case others want to know! The XS can fit necks up to 9 in, small is 12 inch, medium is 16 inch, large is 19 inch and xl is 24inch. ;)
So when I cut out the bandana I don't need to add 1/2 inch or so for seam allowance, it's already been added in there for me?
Hey! No, you don’t have to add for the seam allowance. It’s already included in my pattern. Just cut the bandana size you need and sew 1/4 seam allowance! 💜
So, I am cutting out a bunch of all sizes to make. The larger sizes has the back piece measure a bit smaller than the width of the front of the bandana. The xs and s sizes have the back piece that is a lot longer than the front. This works out okay I take it?

Yessss! I do make them reversible! I prefer to make them reversible because I think it’s like creating two bandanas in one and they are way cuter that way! 😭 Plus my customers prefer them to be reversible! For them, it is like buying two bandanas for the price of one 💜
Yes it is! I finished making my first one last night and it’s absolutely adorable! I’m glad I rewatched the video, because I think I would’ve made the bandanna too small but medium worked out perfectly for my pup!

Please let us know what seam allowance you are using. It appears to be 1/4" but can't be sure as others are using a 3/8" seam allowance. Please clarify which seam allowance you are using.

Thank you! They are amazing! I can’t tell you the elastic measurements because it will vary depending on the neck size, bandana flag and size used. 💜
There has to be a ballpark measurement for each size bandana. So for the medium bandana how many inches of the elastic did you cut?
@@adrianamoniz9221 The ‘ballpark’ for the elastic depends on the bandana flag size! I have tried sharing just my elastic measurements and it doesn’t work. People were more confused than ever because their finished product were too big or wayyy too small! 🥴 The only difference between theirs and mine was that I used a bandana flag that I created and they were using another from elsewhere! 😓 It’s more than just ballpark elastic measurements that you will need. You need a whole pattern with elastic measurements specially designed for the bandana flag. Otherwise, your final result will be way off and may not fit your pup without lots and lots of redoing the finished product and recutting the elastic to make it work. 💜

So you have to have a front piece and a back piece? Couldn’t you just sew the elastic to the back of the front piece?
Hey! You have 3 pieces of fabric total: front, back and other piece. The elastic is sewn inside the other piece to create 💜 - I created another video with a better angle so you can see exactly what I’m doing: ruclips.net/video/NzH42ivxrbw/видео.html
