    Nice steady pace. I have heard this played too fast and it loses the haunting nature of the first tune in particular.

    Love your playing, and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you! Learned Tarbolton Reel by ear from this video, and fiddle along with it a lot...I also fiddle along with Toss the Feathers/Gravel Walks and the entire Old Hag You Have Killed Me Bothy Band set. So, your tune settings will be a part of the sessions around here... :-)

    Great Scottish tune played on the Irish banjo and played brilliantly, Tarbolton lodge is Robert Burns Masonic lodge and this fiddle tune commemorates Burns link with Tarbolton lodge in Ayrshire.

    • @NiiloSirola
      @NiiloSirola  8 лет назад +1

      +Katie Laverty Sorry no, it seems I don't have those ones written out. The Session has some a couple of different settings (thesession.org/tunes/563, thesession.org/tunes/570) but they are not exactly like the ones I (re)learnt by ear from a session tape.

  • @michaelmartin-pr6ie

    I really like your style of playing and wonder if you have the banjo tabs for these 3 reels as try a I do I cannot quite get them from sheet music and my hearing is not the best.

    Tarbolton is excellent. Probably the best version I've found on RUclips. The slower temp brings out the beauty of the song. BTW, what model of banjo are you playing in this video? Is that a fiber skin head?

    • @NiiloSirola
      @NiiloSirola  4 года назад

      Salvatore Rotondo Thanks! The banjo is Pilgrim Celtic Dawn Model 2. The head seems to be Remo Weatherking, don’t know what it’s made of though

    What is the tuning of the banjo? Sorry I am just about to start with the instrument so have no idea :(

    • @NiiloSirola
      @NiiloSirola  8 лет назад

      +Neeraj K It's GDAE so it's the same tuning as violin or mandolin but an octave lower.
