    I like the straight runs. To me that is what I am used to seeing when watching trains. To me it's the most realistic expression of prototype trains. A

    Great video! I would love for you to post a video on how you put the yellow FRA sill stripe as I need to also update my units to the modern era including PTC, yellow sill etc. Would really appreciate it if you did a video of updating one of these AC4400s to the modern day!

    Howdy Daryl! I about passed out when I got 2 new Scale Train locomotives in one shipment... I dunno if I would survive getting 5 at once! I need to stop buying used locos and start on my bench-top combination programing track and practice scenery/diorama. I can't start upgrading engines to DCC without somewhere to program them lol. Your layout is really coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing 🤠

    Lovely models those AC4400s. The one thing missing is the traction motor whine when they are running. The only versions I'd like to see are the U.P ones in the 58XX, 59XX and 60XX number series. Plus the ones being remanufactured to the AC44CM model.

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  Год назад

      What's special about those series?

    • @tulyar1043
      @tulyar1043 Год назад

      @@EvanstonSub The later series have all X panels on the inverter box behind the conducter's side of the cab and all have hi numberboards, solid nose crew access doors and grey safety paint on top of the nose, this is to prevent the crew being dazzled by sunlight or other bright lights and to stop shop people slippping when working on top of the nose.

    Those ST C44ACs look pretty nice! Even though I model 1969, I still keep a batch of "modern" locos around. I am tempted to upgrade my old Athearn C44ACs to Genesis or ST units as the budget allows. The C44AC fleet is fun on UP because of the differences in lettering and some of the details from different batches. Currently, I have two of the older Katos (one with UNION PACIFIC on the hood and the other with a flag), plus three Athearn units (original UP, ex-CNW fully repainted, ex-SP with "patch job"), so a full upgrade will take a while. For a while, the former CNW roundhouse at Council Bluffs was used by GE for warranty work and one could go there and photograph many IP GE units waiting for service. You did a good job on changing the stripes to yellow. I have been thankful that Microscale prints their UP stripes over a white base layer, so they show up nicely after a single application. You made a nice dent on your motive power needs!

    Hi Daryl, to help you with the jerkiness on the locomotives in the ESU décoder manual that you can download from ESU website. Look on page 73 for section 11.1.4 Automatic Calibration of the motor, I am not sure if this is done at the factory, as each motor can be a bit different. In this section you can set the decoder to self adjust to the motor by following the directions. If you need to. You will need the longest straight section of track that is level, the area right out of staging maybe good? Take UP 7098, using programing on the main, CV54 = 0, [WARNING] the locomotive with speed up for 1.5 seconds then stop! When you press F1, then the decoder will be set automatically to the motor. Hope this helps you.

      Thanks for the info. I've done this procedure in the past and it does work. In this case however, it just needed to be broken in a bit. It run smoothly now.

      @@EvanstonSub Ah, cool. I also run the engines forward for 15 minutes then backwards for 15 minutes with no load, and repeat with a loaded cars at the train club. I do this a lot when I have a ready to run or DC engine that been in use for a while with auto motor calibration if I am using an ESU sound decoder.

    Great layout sir. Wondering if you could post a video on your methods of speed matching the various locos. I have a broad selection of Genesis, ST, Athearn RTR units similar to you and your units seem to be well matched. Would love to learn how you get them to work so well together, especially with mid train or end train DPUs.

      Actually, it's been pretty easy. Tsunami2 and Loksound 5 decoders are both very easy to speed adjust and are very consistent.
