The sound cut off around 48:00min. It's been decades since I saw this series. So glad I ran across it! Loved it back in the day! Ian Carmichael was my favorite in this roll. I didn't realize there was a series in the 80's also. Lots to check out! Thanks!
I remember watching this episode as a rerun in August 1975 with my grandfather. My grandma had gone out to see a production of My Fair Lady starring a beauty pageant winner. My grandma would not have approved of the antics of Dian De Momerie!
Now that was a good introduction and very awesome murder... Weapon: staircase...coffee/tea lady warning..."don't use that staircase"... September 24,2019...
mark prescott Actually Margery Allingham was drawing on her own experience in an advertising agency and if you read the book forgetting about the mystery aspect you will have an insight into the different aspects of advertising based on first hand experience. Very biting descriptions...
Margret Christie Yes those Latin terms...Gaudy night- Placetne Domina. Has anyone else been courted and proposed to in this manner ever in reality or in books. Nevertheless you may have noticed that Dorothy L Sayers had this habit of assuming that her reader was as intellectual as she was because if you see Clouds of witness and Busman's honeymoon they are interspersed with letters written in French. So I believe one has to have an IQ a little higher than that of a boiled rutabaga in order to appreciate her very amusing, insightful works of whimsy no pun intended:-).
Lord Peter Wimsey is described more than once as being "lean". Ian Carmichael is not lean. He is far too full in the body and the harlequin costume makes him look more so. I'm afraid I found him most unsatisfactory in the role.
I never viewed these when they first aired, now I love them! Also, the cut of Lord Peter's suits is superb!
I have watched these so many times....just love them!
One of my favourite books. A firsthand account of the advertising industry with a detective story added
Brilliant! Remember them on TV the first time round. 'The Nine Tailors' was my favourite. Ian Carmichael was born to play this part.
Thank you so much for this from Australia!
Thank you Rudolph. Great stuff!
Excellent, most excellent. My thanks.

This is my favorite Wimsey book.
Mine too.
Thank you, many many more please.
Interesting line about Wimsey resembling Bertie Wooster.

thank you.
I'm amazed by how Iain Carmichael manages not to spill his cup of tea or glass of brandy on the arm of his chair! He must have been a dancer.
1:29 😊
What years were these supposed to represent? Was it the 20's or the 30's? These have the best Bunter.
Lovely series, but does anyone in this office actually work.

His social station. He is an advertising copywriter she is a wealthy girl from a high status family
