This is the most confusing game I've ever witnessed. Can some of my Irish brothers hit me up and explain some rules...

Original Video - • This is Gaelic Footbal...
You can't imagine how difficult it is to score in the modern game. Blanket defences are the norm. You need to go to a game to appreciate the skill level and dogged determination these guys put on show and it's all amateur. No money despite the absolute wealth of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
Probably has been said already but when you have the ball you have to run a certain amount (4 steps) before you have to solo(kicking the ball down to your feet and back into your hands) or bounce(you can only bounce once until you take a solo but you can solo as much as you want) when the ball is in the goal it counts as 3 when it goes over the crossbar it’s only 1
I play Gaelic football
Yes you have to solo the ball and bounce it every 4 steps
3 points for a goal. One point for over the bar. You can't rugby tackle, but you can shoulder the ball carrier and try to slap the ball from his hands.
As far as the dribbling you can carry the ball for 4 steps at which point you have to either bounce it off the ground or kick it back into your hands. You can't bounce it off the ground twice in a row.
You should check out hurling the other national sport here in jreland
You Irish guys have been great with the explanations! I’d love to catch a game live!
Sky does have both football and hurling matches ,irish channels have both hurling and football as well as ladies hurling called camoige (kam o gee) and ladies football. RTE and TG 4 which is the irish language channel, TG4 shows all league men and women hurling and football,
Both are played on same pitches, scoring system, similar, goal 3, point 1,flag same, all amateurs, also if you going to react to hurling, the the stick is called a hurl or hurley, ball slightly lighter than a cricket ball is called a slitor (slitter), rules for hurling, run ball in hand for 4 steps then ball must be played to hurl, not more than twice in the same move, soloing ball can be balanced on hurl for indefinite time, can't pick up ball off ground with hand ball can only be thrown when hand is scooped open palm, shoulder to shoulder tackle only, any player can score, hawk eye system is used if score is suspect, yellow cards and red cards are used, also black cards ,this is used when a play fouls, he's sinbinned for 10 minutes but a substitute player can come on however if same player blackscarded twice he's sent off and cannot be replaced, also sorry for going on ,hurling if ball goes wide off a defensive player a 65 metre free is given,65 metre to the goal,
Gaelic football
45 metre free is given, top hurling teams Galway, Tipperary ,kilkenny wexford , Waterford,Cork, clare and Current all Ireland champions limerick
Foot ball counties
All 32 play in championship ,currently Tyrone from ulster are reigning champions ,also several counties have both hurling and football teams,
Galway in connacht play both hurling and football but are the only team in connacht to play hurling so they are allowed to play in lenister province, kilkenny are over whelming a hurling county ,so very little football is played, what little is played is under age, football and hurling are taught from under tens up ,in both men and women
This guys funny. Cool video.. I never realised how mad the game seems until I saw people from other countries watching it lol
A goal is worth 3 points
Over the bar is worth a point.
Hero! I’m slowly gathering some knowledge…
1goal into net 1 goal equals 3pints between posts over goal 1 pint so at end of match say 1 tea has 1 goal 7pints equals 10 pints
a goal is worth 3 and a point is worth 1
It’s not keepie-uppie showing off! The soloing is to prevent a rugby type running non-stop and the consequent difficulty tackling (legally) - the rule was brought in that you must kick (away) the ball within 3-4 steps. The players got clever and kicked the ball (away), as per the law, only to skilfully regather their own kick - that’s the inherent skill and to protect/maintain possession whilst doing so. Have a go yourself, then at full speed with another athlete breathing down your neck….😂
The reason the stands aren't full is because there are three different cups the mckenna cup the league and the biggest the all irelands
in the net is a 1 goal or 3 points, over the bar n between posts is a point, ie; 1.10 would be 13pts n all players have to solo the ball by kicking hand to foot n bouncing every 3 strides, also Croke Pk is 3rd biggest stadium in Europe, and has at least 20 male n 20 female games a year, football n hurling all ireland finals would have 82000 fan per game
Hey, if you thought that game is madness you must check out gaegic hurley.... 30 crazy Irish men with sticks fighting with amazing skill to get a ball in a goal
U should watch Daivid Clifford best moments
these lads aren’t getting enough credit it’s all amateur and it takes serious skill to play this sport
It’s called a solo
And a goal is three points
you have to kick the ball back into your hands or bonce the ball every 4 steps
Yer man's never heard of Google! Never mind, its all good fun. I'd say hurling would be more impactful cos its not like any other sport & the skill levels are through the roof.
Hard game to play
It's easiest game to understand and a lot more exciting than soccer and they don't earn millions in fact earn nothing at all or that..Watch hurling even more exciting
The dribbling is called soloing. You must do so every 4/5 steps. Solo as often as you want but you can only bounce once at a time. Second clip isn’t a penalty. The penalty is the same as soccer. A goal is worth 3 points and over the bar between the posts is 1 point
And half of the points come from Michel Murphy
U should watch ‘David Clifford GAA best Moments’
Your allowed to carry the ball for 4 steps and then you have to either bounce it ,but not consecutively or solo kick to yourself which you can do all match. The tackle is shoulder to shoulder ,but its hard to execute properly so players usually wait for the solo run in which they can tap the ball out of their opponents possession. That scene with the free kick was a one off used to be common in hurling but not gaelic football . Other rules are the ball can not be directly lifted off the ground it must be done with the aid of the foot and the handpass is a handstrike ,throws are not allowed ,no offside until the goalsquare .Thats it in a nutshell
Bro thank you so much for this response! I’ve never been more confused until this comment… i’ll actually rewatch a few more videos now I know the rules and see if I can make sense of it 😂
@@ryreactsyt well the other comments didn't give much information so i thought it needed more explanation
its always been 3 steps as long as ive played
🎉
A goal counts as 3points but I shows up as 1:16. And over the bar is point1:17 also that was not a pen because it was a 45,the lads were in the goal
You kick the ball over the bar and it is 1 point and into the goal is 3 points you can carry the ball for 4 steps but then you have to either bounce it or solo it whichever team has the highest score in the end wins. gaelic is a great game so is hurling I play both and I love playing it is the best sport in the eorld
The best thing about the game is these players who would be the most professional of all athletes in the country represent their Counties for pride. They don't get paid to play the sport, so you could have virtually a primary school teacher, smashing into an engineer for the love of playing for their County.
There are also many clubs in England that play Gaelic football even London, who are entered into the All Ireland (basically the champions league of gaelic football) every year.
Cheers for giving it a watch, give it a shot of watching for a few weeks and you'll love it or watch Jeff and Kammys SkySports programme where they go to commentate on the sport all the way to the All Ireland Final! 🇮🇪
3 for a goal 1 for a point
Can't take more than 3 steps without a solo or bounce
Awesome game built on pride and enjoyment. Thanks for being interested and spreading the word. This ancient game along with hurling deserves so much more attention but it’s also sacred to Ireland.
In Gaelic you need to solo it (kick it up to your hands) or bounce it but you can’t do to bounces in a row or it’s a free but you can do multiple solos in a row and you have 4 steps and you need to do at least one of those in those 4 steps
Goal is 3 points
Over the cross bar is 1 point.
When point is scored umpire raises white flag.goal umpire with green flag raises his flag, if a score is unsure hawkeye is used, if the baĺl goes over the bar and between the uprights it will put up tà whish is irish for yes, nìl means no, highest score wins, however in the all Ireland championship which all 32 counties in Ireland compete ,draws are replayed, the championship starts with provisional games ,in other words counties in the 4 provinces connacht, ulster, lenister and munster ,all counties in each province play each other until the two best teams play in their provincial final, winners go through to semi finals losers play qualifiers fro other provinces, winners progress to quarter finals, then to semifinals, all Ireland final days 82000 fans pay in , draws are replayed with extra time and penalties , all players are amateurs don't get paid ,no transfers, you play for the county and club where you were born,
Thank you man! All these explanations are turning this into a game i really want to watch 😂🇮🇪
Níl means not
He há means No
@@ryreactsyt if ya want to watch the big games like the all Ireland final and semi final they're usually of sky sports arena
Bud it's cause it's an amateur as sport you get paided in the republic of Ireland but northern Ireland doesn't get paided by the British bastard's they won't give any money you clearly aren't Irish
You score 1 point if the ball goes betweent the two big posts and if the ball enters the goal, you score 3 points. No rugby tackles allowed, but you can use your shoulder to charge and you can block shoots or passes with your hands. Well, that's what I have understand so far...
So basically the “kicky uppies” is called a solo and u have to take a solo or a bounce every 4 steps and the one on the left is a goal a goal is worth three points and a point is worth 1 point and when the tim runs out u tally all the points to just say I got 2-17 I would have in total 23 points
It is differant & there is a team in London.
You get 1 point for going over the bar & a goal is worth 3 points so if your score is 3-18 - 2-20 it’s 27-26 on points.
You can only take 4 steps with the ball in your hand so you must volley it or bounce it on the ground it can only bounce once it’s called soloing if you don’t do it you give a free away for over carrying.
The 2nd clip wasn’t a penalty it was ether a freekick or a 45 cause penalties are similar to football as it is in galic football.
A 45 is galic verson of a corner rxcept its 45 mitres away from the goal & you try to put it over the bar.
You can bring back all 15 players to defend but most players will try for the point instead of a goal.
If you can’t get tickets
you go to a pub & if it’s a pub in the county that’s playing it would be standing room only.
Galic football use to ban the police & security services & eas seen as a cathlic sport since it was ran by the cathlic churches but that is changing now.
I’m a Tyrone GAA supporter & have. Been for 37 years since I was 5 years old.
need to do a hurling video, much better sport with similar rules
Why do all foreigners have to look at gaelic games through the prism of other sports . "Can you score a try?"
FFS.
You should react to hurling. I loved watching this video because I play both gaelic football and hurling and I played a match and snapped my achillies
U have to hit the ball out of their hands
Once you’ve hoped the ball when running you have four steps before you have to solo (the thing he was calling kickky uppies) and then you can hop the ball again
Love watching this game
These guys have incredible fitness. They all play and train for both county AND local football clubs. Plus they hold down full time jobs. One of my best friends played county football and one time he cam etc. my workplace 5-aside and he absolutely dominated the entire pitch LOL
I didn't tell my workmates he was a county player until the end, after they'd asked about 100 times "Who IS this guy?" LOL
Plus gaelic football is VERY physical...and then there's hurling...there are no wimps playing that!! LOL
Na man it dribbling
Want to watch something very different, Australian rules football
Its not neymar kicky ups it called a tip for every 4 seconds or 4 steps you have to tip or bounce the ball and if ypu don't it's a free kick a goal is 3 a point us 1 the empty stadiums are the least popular county and there is no transfers it has to come from the county clubs
Stop rabbiting on and watch it you might learn something
Read the fundamental rules of Gaelic football before you post a video. It will help you feel make less stupid.😢😢
Yo u have four steps with the ball in your hand then you have to kick it in to you're hand but you can bounce once then kick and bounce again
You have to dribble by doing a solo on that's when you kick it up into your hand
Thanks for all the heads up emma! God knows I need to learn these rules 😂
Yeah it's really not that complex
You do not have Irish Brothers because I am from Ireland
To answer your question a goal is worth 3
react to international rules football gaa vs afl
You can only take 3 steps then bounce or solo .
you just disrespected all of Ireland
And you are disrespecting me
Neymar
The plays are not paid money as well all the plays have full time jobs outside of the game you play for your count
Always makes you feel better when that’s the case! Can’t deny that passion… It looks like a cracking watch when you know the rules 🙌🏻
When you get your you get FreePlay and when you get it over the bar you get one point
And goal is 3 points
After 3 steps u have to bounce and solo but u can’t bounce twice in a row
4 steps*
@@Bastingbike sorry missclick
Have to keep kicking it up u get 1 bounce
Thanks for letting me know man… it confused me to death 😂
now you have to try irish hurling
That’s on my record list sir! I’ve never heard of it so i’m excited to have a look 🙌🏻
galic is the best sport ever for a lot of people
You tackle the ball. Not the man.
called an in direct free kick
3 for a goal. 1 for a point
Tbh this is pain as a person who plays/watches
