I'm just starting to get into this kind of thing, and am planning a trip to Patagonia this summer to film the tension surrounding the construction of massive dams on two of Chile's biggest and wildest rivers. Don't forget gold (and other) mining in the list of things that have screwed up the fishing in and around the yellow dog plain. I'm all for progress, but not at the cost that it usually entails.
I totally agree. Theodore Roosevelt had the right attitude - he supported fishing, hunting, mining, logging, etc. - but not at the expense of the natural world. We must take care and we must give back to preserve what we've been given to future generations.
