Wow. I’ve been going there for the last decade. Never seen that much ice. Ouch. Snowmaking is limited, but after some storms it’s a one of a kind mountain.
Yeah, this was December 10th so I wonder if that had anything to do with it? I’m not sure how it is right now? I would like to go back but the cost is prohibitive
Iceface lived up to its reputation when we were there. The surrounding area was phenomenal and we even did the bobsled run. From what I remember there was only 1 blue run from the top which made it difficult for our young kids.
Thanks! It hurt a little haha but overall it wasn’t too bad. That was only my first day skiing of this season - having skied about 30 times since then I would like to go back and compare times!
This was in early December on a Sunday. It was not busy at all but most of the trails were not open. I basically went just to ski top to bottoms since I have never skied anything bigger than Tremblant. It was worth it for sure! If you want more up to date videos, a guy who posts a lot of Whiteface videos is “Lincoln in the Adirondacks”.
I dunno maybe I’m just 34 lol. If I am just cruising it’s not bad really. but if I skied hard the whole way down it would be impossible for me. I will have to take up snowboarding one day when skiing my local hill starts to get boring
On the day it was like a 2… it was hovering right around 0… the worst spots were windswept black diamond stretches. Every now and then you would hit a big patch of ice
I’m only 5 seconds into your video …. Looking forward to watching the rest …. Just hoping the background music goes away ….. takes away from the real experience of feeling like I’m right there with you …. Now, back to your video (with fingers crossed) …. lol
The music is there because the wind noise is so overwhelming. Believe me it does not sound good with natural sound lol. Maybe i will mess around with mic placement one day and see if I can make it sound good
@@GoodTrails ….. all good! lol …. Nice video … enjoyed it. I live 50 min from Whiteface …. Been there countless times but it’s been a longggg time since I’ve been back. Gonna go Wed possibly …. Due for a warm day … hoping it softens the snow and lessens the ice … 😎

Yup it’s a hard in the legs and it was definitely Icey. But, no icier than the hills near Ottawa. Overall, it was great!
To make that run all at once is impressive.

first day out at whiteface? brave! Hardly any snowboarders. and now I know why the nickname is iceface......
Good observation, I did not see very many snowboarders. This was early season after a few freeze/thaw cycles. Hopefully the ice isn’t as bad now
What trail did you go down initially from the top ?
Awesome man! Was this on a weekend? Wondering how busy it gets there
It gets crazy busy, and can be SUPER icy. With the right conditions on a weekday I bet it's mint

Can you list the trails in order that were skied on this run?
Its a great mountain!
Sure is’!
Is this the longest run they have to offer? What trails did you take/connect?
I’m sure there is a longer run if you connect some of the traversing trails. I have only been to Whiteface once so I am not the person to ask
So interesting to me that people get fatigued skiing. As a 26 year old snow boarder, I never get the feeling that I would need to stop or slow down

@@GoodTrails lol, well cheers to you making a great video though, much appreciated!
agreed tbh. Unless it is a breathing related problem (like going fast in the wind), I can ski endlessly. And yes, good video!
Scale of 1-5 how icy would you say...5 being worst of course!
