    Hey Nick, its so important to accept the thoughts themselves, as well as changing the belief that it would be the worst if you were stuck with them forever. That fear of fear and fear of being stuck is legit!

    "Engaging" is a good word for the thing you need to stop. Another one I like is "addressing". There's this thing, this issue, this fear, that torments you and you need to stop addressing it.

    My sensorimotor is focused on swallowing and, specifically, the sound of my Eustachian tube clicking in my ears everytime I swallow (which is normal and is just equalizing pressure).
    This channel has been so helpful, especially you Nick, given your history a sensorimotor. So much OCD stuff is hard to relate to cuz I’ve really only suffered existential and somatic OCD, and most pages and people don’t focus on those slightly rarer forms. ERP is also made a bit more complicated w somatic OCD cuz I’m being exposed to the shit all day whether I want to or not lol. But the response prevention still helps a lot. Fully accepting my life as it is right now, and working on facing the fears that underlie my somatic OCD (fear of losing control on my body, my health, my mind, etc.) is helping a LOT. As well as “taking it with me” while refusing to let it stop me from living my life how I want to. If it never ever goes away, I can still live a full and fulfilling life, I can still have my deep relationships, I can still pursue my goals. You guys have helped a lot in me coming to those perspective shifts and embracing worst case scenarios wholeheartedly.

    Nick, would you say everybody can come to the point of acceptance , of true acceptance where we dont want it to be different and dont do mental reassurance if the thought or hyperawareness is still there ? I always get very scared when i remember that i cant accept ...

    Hey nick can u plz talk bout constant internal monologue/ talking in the head merely most of the time. People on the internet are describing it saying, adhd, ocd, anxiety etc. Is it something common and its so difficult to stop sometimes.

    This was a great one, Nick-:) this may sound crazy but sometimes I feel like my ocd is answering for me. So for example… “I’m feeling anxious/thoughts it will say “how terrible this is.” It’s like automatic in my brain 👎

      Thanks Jen 🙂 And absolutely! Very automatic when we are still struggling.

    How is conditional acceptance genetic?

    • @OCDrecoveryNick
      @OCDrecoveryNick 3 месяца назад

      Hey Josh - I have thought about this a lot, I think I will make a full video on this. It's just unique perspective. Take tribalism for example, if there are innate inborn protective mechanisms and tendencies to 'keep your tribe safe' by default you would naturally be more conditional for protective purposes. Also, I have yet to meet and or hear a single human who's born with natural unconditional acceptance.

    • @OCDrecoveryNick

      I have never said that lol, we say you can't get rid of the genetics which is true. Recovery is where you can't tell the difference between having OCD or not.

    • @OCDrecoveryNick
      @OCDrecoveryNick 3 месяца назад

      @@azeri10 It's not manipulating. Cure isn't possible because that would mean you remove the genetic component. Recovery where you can't tell the difference whether you have it or not. Best of luck 🙂
