  • Taken from clips of all of Aaron Tveit's and Gavin Creel's performances for Miscast at various performances spanning over a decade. This is an entirely fanmade edit with no affiliation with the Miscast Gala nor MCC Theater. Also, obviously Gavin and Aaron are not in a real relationship, do not take this as anything more than some real person slash fiction; happy Pride Month. This is just one fangirl's way of showing appreciation towards wonderful performers like Gavin Creel (Won a Tony for Hello, Dolly!) and Aaron Tveit (Nominated for a Tony for Moulin Rouge!). Watching and rewatching your performances on RUclips is one of the ways I kept sane during these crazy times. Thank you for all that you do and I cannot wait for Broadway to reopen this fall.
This the story of two performers balancing the love of theatre and the love for each other. Mashup the names of all songs used and it becomes: Gotta Get Back to His Eyes Because I Have a Quiet Feeling He Needs Me in Buenos Aires or Leave Me, Fly Away, and Say Goodbye.
It opens with Aaron Tveit and Gavin Creel looking back on their past relationship. It has been some time after they decided to “Take Me or Leave Me” and have chosen the latter. They reminisce about their tender romance while staring out into the rain and to the sky in the hopes of one day reuniting with each other.
Fade to the first time Aaron and Gavin met in “Buenos Aires” for Miscast 2009. Aaron just got there in the hopes of becoming a star with his new show. He sets up for his first performance as Gavin enters, just coming out of makeup. Gavin is a burlesque performer and he advises the newcomer to “Get a Gimmick.” Aaron at first thinks that his star quality is enough and refuses Gavin's advice. Gavin ends up doing his Miss Mazzeppa act in front of Aaron and there is an instant connection between the two. Aaron ends up taking Gavin’s advice and dresses up like a groundhog to protest the groundbreaking. The show is a hit. Sometime later, after Aaron’s last performance, Gavin comes backstage to congratulate him and marvel at how great the show was. The two end up professing their love for one another. They look “In His Eyes,” they hold each other, and it turns out love is “A Quiet Thing.” Love takes them to a new atmosphere where they go on fairytale adventures. They talk about the happiness they share together and how they can never go “Back to Before” knowing the other.
Before they knew it, it was time for Miscast 2010. Gavin is becoming more and more focused on his act, as well as the highs and lows of the theater industry, while Aaron is pushed towards the background. Relationship problems ensue. Aaron feels alone and that Gavin prioritizes the show more than him. But Aaron wants to be supportive “As Long As He Needs Me” while watching Gavin take center stage. When he does try to become involved in Gavin’s act, he is constantly being looked over. Gavin adds two others to his performance and has a revelation that that was what he needed to propel himself into stardom. Conversely, Aaron feels rejected when Gavin invited other people to be a part of the act because he is not needed anymore.
Six years later it is Miscast 2016. Aaron is fed up with Gavin not listening to him. Gavin is upset because Aaron flirts with other people. Little does he know that Aaron is doing this in order to get his attention “What is This Feeling?”. The argument quickly escalates. Out of passionate anger, they leave each other and “Fly, Fly Away.”
Back to the present day, the two come back to Buenos Aires for Miscast 2021. During their years apart, Gavin took the Miss Mazzeppa show to London while Aaron was a part of many Broadway shows. While they were successful by themselves, they still miss each other so much. The reminiscing of happier times continues. They can't stop thinking about the other's eyes. After some introspection, the pair realize that they must be together and reunite onstage. It is “As If We Never Said Goodbye.” Love is worth forgiving for and the only thing to live for. They have come home to each other at last. The two embrace. And they both lived happily ever after.
