I am so late to this party. I just ordered those pick ups from GFS. Should be here tomorrow. I don't know what to say, my friend. You would be that guy that would be rocking out testing a guitar or an amp at some music store here stateside, just doing your thing and not trying to show off and be cocky, then would look up and realize you had a crowd of people gawking! When people talk about tone in their fingers, you really exemplify that. Playing Van Halen on a Strat with single coils and getting that much beef? Congratulations! Hope you enjoyed your time in Japan. I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could. Keep rocking in the free world!
you know what they say - the tone is in the hands, and dude you definetely have quiet some hands there! great playing and great sound. i'm probably getting those as an upgrade for my squier affinity, thanks!
Thanks!!! For the upload of this Video! i just bought a set of these exact Pickups for my Squier-Strat! & i used your video here! For a sound sample reference to what the Pickups would roughly sound like! i have always loved the grey felt bottom Strat-Pickups! but could NEVER! afford an original! pair! of them! & my Squier Strat's stock pickups sounded a bit weak & shrill sounding! & i had a coupon to get a set of these GFS Grey Felt Bottom Pickups at a pretty good decent price! So i totally figured why the heck not buy em' for my Squier Strat they can't possibly be in the slightest any bit worse than the cheapy stock Squier Strat Pickups that are in the Guitar right now!... So i figured i had nothing to lose! really!....& so i truly can't! wait!! till i get them in the mail! to put in my Squier-Strat! i am really eager to hear them up close! & in person!... wish me luck!!... & again thanks for uploading this Video! i had a hard time finding a video of these particular Pickups! & the one video i found was of the Staggered version of them! But i ordered the NON-Staggered! ones! because i have had a couple guitar's with Staggered pickups! & i just really never cared for them too much! they are okay! it's just i'd prefer NON-Staggered! Pickups! because every guitar i had with Staggered! Pickups! they always had Strings-Balance! issues! Where your tone was either hit or miss depending on what strings you were picking/strumming on!... & to me it can get quite annoying! i always found myself with a small phillips head screwdriver in my pocket! or with-in arm's reach! to adjust the Pickups set screw height on both ends of each Pickup depending on what tone i was trying to dial in!....
Thank you for your service. Love the GFS pickups, I have 3 different sets in my strats. I love the Texas Grey Bottoms with the hot bridge pickup. Great sound and value for the money.
Nice tone! I love Gfs stuff. They make great electrics for the money. I’d stay away from their acoustics though, I had two of their top of the line exotic woods series and both of them were junk lol
Thats awesome, I was a crewchief for 20 years at Pope AFB in NC. Obviously using AGE equipment is a big part ofcrewing planes. Great job rocking out on the guitar. So are you happy with the GFS pickups?
I've ordered a bunch of stuff through Guitar Fetish and its really hit or miss. The pickups are fine and definitely worth the price in my opinion. I really like the kwickplug system. I dont mind soldering but the build quality on the wiring harness is good and the price in almost worth the ease of the whole thing. The big item to avoid from GFS are the necks and the finishes on the bodies look super cheap half the time. Congrats on retiring. That decision to stay gets harder every enlistment. Sounds like you were at a base you liked, or were exceptionally unlucky.
Haha, that's funny about being at a base i liked or extremely unlucky. I actually loved being at pope. Spent my first 10 years on the A-10 and then my last 10 years on C-130's. I got out of active duty to stay at pope and join the 130 reserve unit that was here. So yeah, I was lucky to be here that long but I also put things in my own hands a little bit. I am doing multiple guitar builds currently and I am trying to stay as cheap at possible so the guitar fetish parts and pickups are a good option for me. I was going to roll the dice on one of there necks but it sounds like you wouldnt suggest it. I figured for the price it might be worth it, would you disagree?
I find that picking up a pawnshop or b-stock guitar and changing out the stuff to be the best bet. Those GSF necks are a gamble and I hear returning items are a pain. I've gotten some broken pawnshop guitars that had some great parts. One had a flamed maple neck and they wanted $40 for the whole guitar because the electronics were fried. The neck on this guitar is from a $140 b-stock Squier that had the bridge too low. It is a little more legwork and a bit more that a GFS neck but I have had good results.

Aggressive Elevator Music that's awesome and great to hear!☺
Thanks for including some jazz, aroung the 2 minute mark, in your video.

They sound very good!
There's not the 60s-70s Texas version anymore in their website. Are yours non-staggered (flat poles)?
Yes they are non staggered
what do you do in the air force. I just retired in september, was never in Japan but spent a year in Korea.
I work at AGE out on the flightline
