@@FlyFishDan I just didn’t venture out that direction much before, so much water to explore, definitely a special place. I’ve seen you and mark catch some beautiful fish out of it 😀.
Who you are makes these videos so good Steve. Thank you for the choices you make. This canyon has many memories for me. My sons are in their forties now and we've been coming to the Kittitas valley to bowhunt Table Mountain for three decades. Rarely get meat but the memories sustain us. Thanks for adding to yours to ours.
Took a couple guided trips this year and was epic both times! Those fish are persnickety, so many different hatches in so many different locations and it shuts off like a switch. When you can get into the Skwala hatch in late winter/early spring, or the march browns.. it’s phenomenal. Thanks again for another great video Steve! You put some work in and I think I can speak for everyone, we really appreciate it.
@@chriscooper6584 I agree with everything you said ! Those fish apparently are real picky, and seem very well educated. I loved the area though, can’t wait to go back and explore. Thank you for such kind words!
Nice video. Have you looked at Troutroutes? It has more river details and you can mark locations(boat launches, access points, gauging stations, etc.) It is like On X hunt maps, but dedicated to fishing
@@stacyoberg775 that’s what I have heard! Need to spend some more time down there. You can order one of those hats here syoutside.com/products/sy-logo-brown-hat
Fish below the Dam U can keep them there and there bigger and stronger and really wild ...Make SURE u LOCK your car door on your Vehicles up there ass well . The homeless break in to cars when your away from sight They will smash your windows
@ I grew up in the 90’s fishing this stretch of the Yakima from a drift boat. First with rooster tails. Then got into fly fishing. It was great then. I hate floating it now. Seeing the trash. Beer cans. Styrofoam ice chests. Popped rafts. It sucks.
Love the Yakima, especially this time of year

I just moved to Yakima this summer. haven't been able to explore much, but the canyon is beautiful! Cant wait to go fishing there myself
@@thaddaeusjohn highly recommend it ! Views alone are worth it.
Great video Steve! it would be cool to see you do a float trip on that river sometime in the future.
@@samcass4032 that’s a great idea ! I was thinking the same thing while I was fishing 🎣
I've never actually fished on the Yakima, maybe I should come back for a bit!!

This is dope, I like how you are uploading older footage from October. It's inspiring 🙌 tight lines! any steelhead planning ?

Nice technique man. Work the tactic you wanted to on the streamer, but observe enough to switch to the dries
@@OutdoorsPodcast thank you ! Sometimes you just have to adjust to what’s flying around 😃.
That river has monsters. Put a camera in the water. The problem is they havs been caught several times. That hat is awesome where do you get one?

Just don’t try to fish it on a weekend during the summer. It is packed with drunk floaters who litter the river bad!!
@@kcp7042 yeah unfortunately that’s true for our local rivers as well.

@ I agree it’s unfortunate, I try and pick up at least one piece of trash every time I float, makes me feel better.
Yeah the Yakima river is filled with filth!
You need to work on the timing on your back cast. You are lucky to have caught two fish. Tight loops dad.
