A SACRIFICE PLEASING TO GOD| The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (March 3, 2024) with Sign Language
We are on the Third Sunday of Lent; in today’s gospel, we hear how Jesus drove the merchants and money changers out of the temple area. “Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace,” he told them. “What sign can you show us for doing this?” the Jews retorted. Then the Lord said: “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” They could not believe him.
Friends, this incident is one of those that they used to plot against Jesus. But he was teaching everyone about the new sacrifice pleasing to God. And the new Temple of God’s presence. In Jesus we can offer God an acceptable sacrifice. Jesus is the sign that they demanded. Are we still looking for other signs, brothers and sisters? Look to Jesus.
