My interpentation is that the kid has been through dramatic stuff and created his fears ingame.the first part is his experience with bullies scaring him and toys.second part is playing with bunnies but having to use them for things.third part of being lost in the wild and loosing his best friend/pet. The last part could be him being stuck in the dream and worst future possible. Or could be him remembering his dream before dying but eh?

The Second Nightmare made me smile, until I saw that huge bunny. Yep, a cannibal. All that aside though, this game is amazing. Chilling soundtracks, amazing plot and an excellent job on the whole game. Way to go.
For me, some parts of the game work really well in double time (like the part where it flashes the boy getting impeded by the spike, I think the shorter flash makes it even more mysterious).
Now that I look back at it, it kind of feels like what it's like to have a sensory overload. Lights too bright, things too loud, everything scares you or is after you, and you have to put a fake smile on because if you don't, you're seen as odd or too sensitive.

look for the full gameplay because there are 2 youtubers who censored the hearts part and the time 1:04:33 (I don't know how to describe that puzzle) and well, also I wanted to see the achievements.
When I first played this game I had a bug. 1:04:25 skipped to 1:05:50, the part in between was omitted. And from this point until the end of the game, the player character was invisible. But I didn't know that and thought that he isn't there.. So everything was even weirder than it should be.
Interesting, but I was exposed to much more twisted stuff... So not really all that scary... The red smiley... Actually wants the boy to be happy. But it seems to have a different understanding of happiness...
