It's a beautiful walk. Heard a lot of good things about Dubrovnik, and watched travel videos. Your video not only confirmed my good opinion of the city, but also strengthened my desire to visit it. Greetings from Prague.
Dubrovnik became part of Croatia first time in history in 1939, when Serbian king added Dubrovnik to Dalmatia administrative region, which later by Hitler was incorporated into Nazi puppet state, Independent State of Croatia.
Dubrovnik (Dubrovnik Republic, Dubrovačka Republika) and Montenegro (Crna Gora) were the ONLY independent parts of the ENTIRE region of the Balkans and southeastern Europe in the days of the Ottoman empire and Austro-Hungarian empire. Basically the only parts of the region that were ON THE MAP OF EUROPE. Everything else was either Ottoman empire (like Serbia!) or Austro Hungarian empire (like Croatia). Montenegro and Dubrovnik got more independent history than Serbia and Croatia COMBINED. Eternal vasal states, Serbia and Croatia, ever since the late medieval times till 100 years ago. Serbia is a continental country with ZERO connections with the history of the sea! Dubrovnik got connections with Montenegro, more than with anyone else.
@@Just_another_Euro_dude Nope. Only Dubrovnik Republic was independent state in Balkan during 16, and 17 century, and ruled by Latins (close to today's Italians). They spoke Latin language, and administrative languages were - "Latin" and "Serbian", because large influx of Serbs, later known as Catholic Serbs. Montenegro was non-existing at that time, it was a Turkish province called "Karadag" ("black mountain). Turks left capital city of Montenegro in 1878. Even as a term, Montenegro it was not invented yet until 15. century....but that territory was called in 12, and 13 century (ruled by Serbs - Nemanjic dynasty) Zeta, and earlier Duklja (ruled by Serbs - Vojisavljevic dynasty), as mentioned in all Byzantine and Frank's sources. Things you wrote are communist and post-fascist pamphlets active in Montenegro in last 20 years.
@@Oleg-b8d I am Montenegrin. Are you a Serb or Russian or some similar shit nation? My bet is that you are some ruzzian slave also called a serb. Serb is a name that came from a "Serv", "Serf" "Sluga", "Sluganj", the "Servant". Cause that's EXACTLY what Serbs used to be for THE MOST of their history. Montenegrins can't be Serfs as Montenegrins were always free. From paying anything to anyone. Where was "Old Montenegro" with the historical capital Cetinje in the 16th and 17th century? Where smart boy? In Ottoman empire or in Austria? Nope. Nowhere of those places. Independent on the map of Europe. First learn about the fact that Podgorica WAS NOT the capital of Montenegro in 1878. After that you might learn that in the 1878 there was a Congress of Berlin, on which Montenegro just was officially recognized as an independent country, one of ONLY 14 independent countries of Europe, but Montenegro got 1300 YEARS of statehood TODAY. Montenegro got 4 ruling dynasties in it's history, Vojislavljević, Balšić, Crnojević and Petrović. Through the 3 states, countries, Duklja, Zeta and Crna Gora (Montenegro). Montenegro is just an Italian name for Crna Gora, and it's from 14th century, not 15th. Our first country was Duklja, that got it's name based on the ancient Roman-Illyrian city called Dioclea, whose remains are located at the periphery of Podgorica today. Dioclea had 10 000 citizens even 2000 years ago. Podgorica was capital city of Montenegro in modern times, only since the 1945. When it was called Titograd till 1990. Duklja was founded in 700 something, and at those times there was absolutely NO COUNTRY called Serbia, and for MANY centuries AHEAD there was NO Serbia, there was NO Serbian language and there was NO Serbian Orthodox Church. There's absolutely NOTHING Serb about Duklja. It was proto southern Slavic state that was 10 times the size of today's Montenegro, around the year 1044 and Duklja was conquering the Serbian state of Raška. Raška was the FIRST state of Serbia. Raška is the BASIS of today's Serbia. And Duklja that is the basis of today's Montenegro was CONQUERING Raška thousand years ago. That's how "FRIENDLY" they were. Even the American RUclips makers KNOW about that history. Also Montenegro had a king in the 19th century, king Nikola Petrović and one of his his daughters was the queen of ITALY from 1900 till 1940. Montenegro simply won most of the battles vs Ottomans through the 19th century and earlier and then won the Balkan wars of 1912-14 and that was the end of the Ottomans in the region. You don't get to be on the map of Europe just for fun. You EARN it. And Montenegro earned it through the battles, wars, blood and sweat of the ancestors. In 1912-14 Montenegro had 40 000 soldiers that killed or wounded 40 000 Ottoman soldiers. For THOSE times those were BIG numbers. As all the populations of the countries were much smaller. The only way it was possible to get freedom back in those days.
