Gordo what a great consolidated video that shows so much all in one go, the gear, techniques, mentality. It's good to see all the skills in context rather than just one video about knot tying or something very specific. I hope as many people who go into the bush see this as possible and apply the respect you've taught. All the best.
This is so cool, seeing everything in continuity makes clear the reasons for doing things a certain way. Also - completely demolishes the bushcraft vs leave-no-trace argument!
I know, the whole leave no trace can be taken too far. The light weight titanium pots and pans that many light weight hikers use come from a big hole in the ground somewhere (mining). The impact of properly practised bushcraft is so negligible. There is no such thing as leaving no trace...just minimal trace. It possible to practise respectful bushcraft and be a great environmental steward at the same time.
Ha ha yeah set lines are the only way I can catch fish as well. Have you looked at rolling the sleeping gear up and putting it into one compression sack instead of having 6 individual items to pack and all those empty carry bags to sort through in the morning? Another great video mate
If you have to take your poo tickets out with you, those little rolls of dog poo bags a awesome useful, second layer of "protection" from that paper in a trash bag.
well done, been interested in the courses for a while, but i am overseas, need to return to Australia, will be good to be back home, hope to see you soon.
Thanks, question.. what is the issue of burying the paper? Under 6 to 8 inches of dirt it will break down. Would be interested to knowing your reasoning.
It can take a little while for the toilet paper to break down but animals also dig it up and then you have it blowing about the place and it looks terrible. If you can't burn it then it should be taken with you and disposed of later. People are just plain lazy, particularly in Australia and don't respect the environment....not the way they should. Thanks so much for watching.
Good video but i struggle to see the content in night time video. I suppose one is limited to what sort of camera or lense can be used to enhance night time video. Yes im a beginner with aging eyesight and a desire to learn.
Mate, you are a legend but a huge issue is that military items are not the ideal option. I believe from experience every outdoorsman needs to learn from hikers. They have their gear really set.
Wishful thinking mate,u expecting the unthinkable. Unfortunately I tumble across human waste with littered shit papers on a regular basis ! Plus....the never ending broķen bottles n food litter just disgusting behaviour!
Videos like this is what RUclips and the internet was really made for
Thanks Gordo!

Enjoy these episodes. I am ex-army from the 80s. Lots of memories from what you are showing. I wonder how many other ex-army watch you.
Yes, the hutchie brings back a lot of memories 👍👍

Thanks for the two-part video. It's so good that we have a genuine expert in Australia like you making videos like this. Cheers.
I don't consider myself an expert as we are all students and never stop learning. Thanks for watching
Thanks Gordo, always enjoyed your video and it is a good small refresher from the course 🙏

Another cracking episode!
Nice! Been waiting for this
Here's one, and finale a "down to earth" contributor. Thanx 🙂
That IFAK bag looks relatively small to store the full Snake Bite Kit

your videos are awesome mate, I've learnt a lot from them
Another great video… just curious what is the bottle lifting device you’re using when you’re boiling the klean kanteen bottle?
Thanks for spending the time making this.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.

Well done Gordon.
That's a nice looking hoodie man
Salve meu amigo show de bola
If you had eaten that catfish, it would be interesting to see how you prepared it and cooked it. Catfish are a tasty fish.
Great video Gordon!
Wondering if the Drifta groundsheet will be available to order at some point?
Not sure yet. It was a custom job for me so will ask.
What back pack is that looks good
Спасибо!
Gday Gordon

i noticed that you put your fire away from your shelter, is there any reason for that
In this instance only because there was a nice flat log to sit on and it was a cooking fire, not a fire to keep warm. Good question.
Aren’t you cold wearing minimal clothing ? In the middle of winter!
It's only April so it's only Autumn so it's only beginning to cool down so the days are still warm. Thanks for watching.
Excellent excuse for making mud pies
Taut hitch...yeah nah. I prefer a truckies hitch.
