I love this. It is not something we are aware sometimes, but it looks so much better when we can understand how it looks and fix it.
Thank you. ❤
Another way to think about these “bad habits “ - if you correct all of them, you immediately look much better as a skater even if you don’t learn any new “tricks.”
Yup! That’s me and I am the guilty one. ☹️☹️Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Great video and excellent reminders, I’m definitely guilty of looking down at the ice, and of adding extra steps (especially between those back crossovers🙈). Glad I’m not alone in driving my coach mad at least 😂
Yes, quilty to that last one 🙂 And my hands fall if I really don't remind myself🙃
Wow I didnt even know bad habit 4 was a thing. Strong words on bad habit 1 - "do you even want to be here?" . I will never put my arms down again at a skating practice 😢
Inline skating is a great way to kick the toe-pushing habit. Flicking the toe gets punished super hard when you’re working with a wheel instead of a pick!
If I'm assigned LTS Basic 3 the first thing I tell the students that if they don't get out of the toe pushing habit I will not pass them. They learn pretty quick that I'm serious.
And yet, I still see toe pushing in some of the higher level students which frustrates me to no end.
To non coaches I look like I know I'm what I'm doing. But to coaches I probably look like a giant mess. Everything I learn is from asking others and watching this channel. I work at a factory. I need to get my flexibility up. Oh and I need to get my hernia fixed soon. 😢 I've been skating while trying not to make it worse...😅
We listened and we didn’t judge 😂
I can barely skate. I don’t even know why I keep falling, and I do not look down at all.
my worst bad habit is leaning too far forward! i’ve been trying so hard to break it, does anyone have suggestions on how to correct this?
Sounds like you're callin some students out [right now], 🧐
I can hear the frustration welling up with each passing number.
Toepick pushes are the greatest form of disrespect to an ice rink, your coach, and yourself. You can't claim the term 'figure' if you do toe pushes.
