The Coral Coast is situated on the south-eastern (windward) side of Fiji's Viti Levu island, about 2 hours' drive from Nadi International Airport. The area is renowned for consistent Trade Winds throughout July-September and offers a multitude of surf breaks ideal for both surfing and kiting. Ben has been fishing, surfing and kiting along the Coral Coast for over 15 years and first went to Matanivusi a couple of years ago after becoming intrigued by the area's potential as a kite destination.
Matanivusi offers world-class kitesurfing downwinders, surf-kiting, flat-water kiting and surfing all set amid beautiful rainforest accommodation. Immerse yourself in Fijian culture and spend your days on the water. Epic downwinders and reef breaks including Frigates and Fijian Pipe surround the area and cater to a varying levels of experience. Depending on wind direction and swell, Ben runs downwinders from Bird Island (pictured) to the resort, Pipe Beach to Fijian Pipe, Bird Island to Frigates, Up Rising to Matanivusi, Matanivusi to Mango Bay and many more. There are huge areas of incredible kiting and so much to see in this part of Fiji. When there's no wind there's great surf at Frigates, Pipe, Shifties, J’s and Vunaniu which provide an excellent mix of lefts and rights.
